Most still aspire for something deeper and more meaningful. So we’re all pelted with problems. Honestly it shouldn’t even bother or even hinder us to becoming all we ought to be. Aspirations as kids should continue to live within us, even though it would be shortlived or as long as we could hold on to the dream. They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks… or can they?
Find answers to the following questions and you will be well on you way to you best self.
1What do I really want?
The main question that drives us today. So many things you want to do with your life and so little time in the day.
Find something that you are good at and take small step towards improvement. Diligence is the key to know that it is worth doing it.
Should I really change?
Editor Allen Estrada Allen@branditandgrow.comWe have been asked this question a 1000 times, so let’s dig into it.
10 questions you should ask to yourself:
Most of you have heard that commercial on TV or radio. “Be all you can be, in the Army” but it’s not just in the Army. It’s “Be all you can be in your business and personal life” I often see myself as somewhat contented with my life the way things are, but of course it’s hard to think of anything else when it comes to your own perceived deficiencies.
Today’s generation has taken another level of redefining ‘self’, or at least that’s what we see on Social Media. Having a group of teenagers around has taught me that there are far worse things that they could have had than acne or not having that dream car at 16. So how does that fit into your world?
The “every day is a party” life that we have all gone through a time or two. Although this would be the most fun and alluring kind of life, we have all woken up from a night or weekend of fun. With some great memories and some solid regrets. Facing a pile of business and life decisions is much easier with a clear head and rest than a full weekend of regrets. I believe moderation is key. Have fun and party like its 1999 but know your limits and live your life by it. Keep the end goal in mind.
3Is there a bright side in all of this?
With so much is happening and changing around us there seem to be no room for even considering that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We can still see it as something positive without undergoing so much scrutiny. If you get to the end of a perceived tunnel, and it takes you on another direction, take in the
positive that you have completed one journey and are now on to the next.
4Am I comfortable with what I’m doing?
There’s always the easy way and the right way when it comes to deciding what happens in business and life. It doesn’t take a genius to see yourself as someone unique, or else we’ll all be equally the same in everything we do. Variety is what makes us interesting and exciting. Experiment and consider all options.
5Have I done enough for myself?
Have you? Or is there something more you want to do? Discontentment can be dangerous in large doses, but in small amounts you’ll be able to see and do stuff you could never imagine doing.
Am I happy at where I am today?
It’s an unfair question to be honest, so my answer is Love! For example: Love being a good and caring Parent to your kids, then take it up a notch! Your kids will love you forever. Use that Love in every aspect with everyday life! Make sure you Love what you doing then take it and level up.
7Am I appealing to the opposite sex?
So I don’t have an answer to that, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try. Whether you get in shape, change the way you wear your clothes or hair, or even your attitude towards people, you should always remember it will always be for your own benefit.
How much wealth could I have?
There is no such thing on having too much or too little, but it’s more on how badly you really need it. I’d like to have lots of money, no denying that, but the question is that how much are you willing to work for it?
What motivates me?
It’s an answer you have to find out for yourself. There are so many things that can make everyone happy, but to choose one may be the hardest part. Success, Family, Wealth? Take small steps to improve one or all.
So? What really makes you tick? You can be just about anything you always wanted to be, but to realize that attaining something that may seem very difficult is already giving up before you even start that journey. Always remember, that self-improvement is not just about the physical or philosophical change you have to undergo, but it’s something that you really want.
The last couple of years have been challenging for humanity, to say the least. We’ve all navigated as best we knew how. As we came into 2020 and felt the rift in our foundation, we were invited to bring our focus and attention to the body and our health.
We didn’t know why at the time, but this has become very clear in the past while. Shifting into the year of 2021 brought with it fundamental change in how we see the world and it was a very emotional year for some.
We’ve seen much change in the past couple of years, in all areas. Many of us have chosen to come home to ourselves and focus inward, and those who did so likely felt less challenged. Those who continue to maintain the focus on the material world are watching our systems and foundations come into entropy. 2022 is set to be a completely different experience. As we transition from one year to the next, we find ourselves in completely different energetic weather, and how we choose to experience that is up to us. 2022 is a year that will help us to deepen our purpose on this planet, and will have us inspired to create. We will be seeing some of the results of the past couple of years and how we’ve been navigating the shifting tides.
The results we see may be welcomed, or not. As we begin to notice evidence of the shift we’ve moved through, it is crucial that we remember our power,
and who we really are as humans. We are creating our own reality through our thoughts, and what we maintain our focus on. If we continue to focus on what we perceive is wrong with the world, it will continue to show evidence of this to us. If we can shift our focus to who we are, what we want, and why we want it, we can create a world filled with love, peace, and acceptance.
This is a time of transition for humanity, and one that comes with a unique set of challenges. It isn’t always easy to redirect your focus when the outside world is inundating us with information that may or may not be true. It isn’t easy to focus inward when the world around us is so full of noise.
We are creators. We were designed to direct our attention to what we want to experience. You get to choose your focus. Humanity is evolving. We are becoming more aware of who we are. We are becoming more aware of what’s possible. It is time for us to settle into that idea and let it land. Let it deepen. Will you focus on who you are, and allow yourself to deepen your purpose here as a human this year? Will you feel into what you want on a daily basis? Are you willing to lean into the possibility that you are more powerful than any dream you could possibly have for your life? Now is the time for you to settle into your purpose and love the world more deeply than ever before.
2022 is a completely diffe rent experience and how we choose to ex perience it is up to us .
Proper protection is one area of finance that is overlooked and undervalued. It’s amazing how people think they cannot afford proper protec tion for their health, life, legacy, and death. The reality is that you can’t afford not to make proper protection a financial priority. One illness, injury, or death can ruin a family financially, without the proper protection. What is proper protection? It starts with health insur ance. There’s a cost to having health insurance and a cost to using it. You MUST know the difference!! Your premium might be inexpensive, which is the cost to having coverage. If you have a high deductible, let’s say $5,000, that’s the cost to using it. You must pay the first $5,000 before your insurance kicks in to begin paying your medical expenses. So basically, you are self-insured for the first $5,000.
The maximum out of pocket (MOOP) is another cost to using your health insurance. Once you meet your de ductible amount, you will continue to pay copays and coinsurance until you meet the MOOP, which could be $5,000 or more depending on the plan you choose. That is being penny wise and pound foolish. It makes more sense to pay a few dollars more for your premium to get a low deductible and MOOP.
The next area of proper protection is coverage for your life. Life goes on for a family after the death of a loved one. Don’t be a liability to your family by leaving them with the burden of paying for your funeral, medical
bills and other debts when you die. Be an asset by pro tecting your life with insurance that not only pays upon your death but also has living benefits. Living benefits allow you to draw up to 90% of your death benefit in case of heart attack, stroke, cancer, and other chronic illnesses or injuries while you’re still living. Here’s an example. If you have a $500,000 life insur ance policy with living benefits and you are diagnosed with a heart attack, stroke, or cancer, you can draw up to $450,000 while you’re still living. The amount you get is based on the severity of the diagnosis. The funds can be used however you choose, and the money is tax-free. That’s being an asset to your family. The wealthy use life insurance to create and build gen erational wealth. One vehicle used is indexed universal life insurance. This type of policy allows you to invest money that is indexed to the market to get market gains and eliminate the risk of market losses. Indexed to the market means that you have a cap and a floor. For example, If the market return is 15% and your cap is 12%, you will only receive 12%. If the market shows a loss of -9%, you will not lose any money because your floor is zero. We say zero is your hero. You did not make any money but more importantly you did not lose any money. As the mar ket begins to show gains, your gains begin from your floor, not the -9% basement position.
Let’s talk about a subject that nobody wants to talk about, but everybody is going to have to face at some point, DEATH. The death of a loved one is not only emotionally devastating but can also be fi nancially devastating if you do not have the proper protection. People think that having life insurance is being properly protected. That is true if you have the right amount of coverage. The average cost of a fu neral in the United States is currently between $7500 to $15,000, depending on where you live.
peace of mind, protection, and all the benefits es tablished in the membership. These benefits include transfer of the deceased to the local funeral provid er; preparation of the deceased; basic viewing time; casket for the viewing; funeral director expenses; funeral guest book, prayer cards, and a death certif icate.
I know from personal experience that having proper protection is the financial cure that everyone needs

Everyone has a story that needs to be told. There is value in seeking out these stories. These stories carry the weight of our history.
Mrs. Janie Price is a spry 96 year old who has lived in our nation’s oldest city of St. Augustine. She has seen and experienced more than most people can imagine. She was part of the “ACCORD Freedom Trail” during the Civil Rights Movement but also had a personal connection to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Mrs. Price engages you in with her southern charm, quick-wit and is full of life. She relives her story and you become mesmerized by the depth in which she recalls in comprehensive detail.
Don’t be mistaken by her sweet demeanor though, She is no pushover. She divulges stories of standing her ground against the the Klu Klux Klan. Or the time she quit her nursing job in protest after finding out an less educated unskilled colleague was making more money on the ba sis of their skin color.
In the 1940s, Janie was a nursing student in Atlanta, Georgia, when she first met Martin Luther King Jr. He was a student at Morehouse College and was dating one of her classmates. “I just knew him as Marty”, she recalls.
Although she remembers him as an extremely intelligent and kind person, she could not have foreseen that he would become the most influential figure in the move ment for equal rights. Decades later, their paths would cross once again.
In 1964, there were many rallies, demonstrations and protests in St. Augustine. Some of them took place right on Janie Price’s street. She would let college students from all over, who were a part of the protests, sleep in
her home wherever they could find space. She would receive threatening phone calls almost daily. But Janie Price would not be deterred from doing the right thing or in standing up for what she believed in. At this time, Dr. King was traveling across the US, speak ing at rallies. He ended up in St. Augustine and by hap penstance came across his old friend Janie Price. She invited MLK, Jr. and Reverend Ralph Abernathy to stay in her home. Which they accepted. The following day they were arrested for an attempted “Eat in” at a Whites-only establishment. That moment became a major turning point in the civil rights movement and subsequently, put St. Augustine at the forefront of international headlines.
The arrest brought internation al attention to the city and the movement and became a pivotal role for change. Dr. King would go on to win the Noble Peace Prize but more importantly, it led to the passage of the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964 by Pres ident Lyndon B. Johnson.
Janie Price’s home became a site of historical significance. In 1985, her street’s name was changed from Central Avenue to MLK Avenue. It is the only such named street that can actually boast of having MLK stay there. A historical marker that sits in the front yard commem orating the “ACCORD Freedom Trail” and her part in it.
Janie Price is truly a living historical figure of St. Augustine. Not far from her home in the Lincolnville Museum & Cultural Center amongst artifacts by Martin Luther King Jr. and many other prominent figures of black history in St. Augustine, Janie Price’s picture, nurse’s cape and summation is proudly memorialized.
The building in which the museum is currently housed, was once the only school for African Americans growing up in St. Augustine. Janie was a student there as well as former NFL star Willie Gallimore and civil rights leaders Henry and Kat Twine. It was retired as a school in 1968 and now since been renamed to the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center. Museum Director, Gayle Phillips, the LMCC seeks to preserve and showcase African-American history of St. Augustine. Vis itors get a chance to really learn about history of this neighborhood, that began as a cluster of plantation squatter shacks after the Civil War.
Come visit St. Augustine and stop into the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center and Mrs. Price’s house... she may just be sitting on her front porch with a smile and a wave.
