Editor As an entrepreneur myself, I’ve heard the folowing scenario more times than I can count: Someone has an idea. Not just an idea, but a BIG IDEA! It’s actually a great idea, and has huge potential to evolve into a lucrative business. They decide that it’s something they’d like to turn into reality, so they begin on the traditional road to fulfilling their dream. They are relentless in their pursuit of success... so much so that they use up their entire savings, max out all their credit cards, borrow money

it… this is the BIG ONE! I’m sure you can see where this is going – putting all your eggs into one basket is not only unsafe and irresponsible financially, but it can be emotionally disastrous if that basket of eggs fails for whatever reason. This is the number one reason that bootstrapping has become so popular over the past
20
couple of decades. Utilizing the bootstrapping business model, your own assets are not put in danger for the sole purpose of building a new business. You keep your safety net while testing your new business idea for relevance, marketability, and profitability. Welcome to this special edition of Expert Talk

When Steve and his wife were first married, their financial resources were very limited. Heartbreakingly, he went to his father and asked for money. His father said, “Son, no. If i give you this money now, you will not exhaust the resources you didn’t know you had.” It was one of the greatest gifts his father ever gave him, to not give Steve a handout. So Steve took off running. He read entrepreneur books, consumed courses and podcasts, and got around the right people. He launch company after company. Each one failed, until he started thinking differently. That’s when he found Russell Brunson and Click Funnels. At the feet of this brilliant marketing giant, he learned and crafted

Get Social What’s Social Media Marketing and Why is it Important?
So let’s discuss how you, yourself, can bank on knowledge and information, and create a reality that you love! The concept of bootstrap marketing is a great place to begin. Understanding what exactly bootstrap marketing is and why it is important are two very powerful pieces of useful information that have the ability to give you a leg up in the business world. While your competition is busy listening to informational noise, you will be tuned into a powerful signal that can lead you in the right direction on the road to success.
At its very core, bootstrap marketing is starting up a business with no (or very little) upfront cash. The philosophy behind this business model relies greatly on what the entrepreneur can put into the business that doesn’t include money... things like time, work, ingenuity, ideas, resourcefulness, and creativity. As a bootstrap marketer, you are your own boss, and your own employee. The success or failure of your venture is solely up to you (unless of course, you have partners in the venture). The ideas you come up with, and how you go about turning those ideas into a real business...it’s all up to you. So clearly, this business model isn’t for everyone. But if you have an entrepreneurial mind and spirit, a great attitude and outlook, and the resourcefulness to get things done on the cheap, bootstrap marketing may very well be a great marketing model that you’ll want to explore.
PAGE
“Owning” this knowledge and information, and dispersing it at regular intervals to your intended audience, will instantly raise your authority level to those absorbing that information, and it’s one of the ways that you can utilize social media marketing in your business.
Bootstrap marketing certainly isn’t one of the more traditional business models that rely on business plans, investors, and loans. This has great appeal to some, and seems like a joke to others. It is a much simpler, less complex business model that tens of thousands of entrepreneurs have used with great success.
07
It’s become exceedingly clear over the last couple of decades that knowledge plus information equal power. Any intelligent business owner realizes that having an endless supply of useful information will result in more engagement with their audience, help them be seen as an authority in their niche, and will end up making their business more money.

Choices... We all enjoy a good story. That’s probably because we’re verbal. We have a long history of sitting around a fire and listening while someone tells a tale we’ve heard a hundred time before. Stories are a great way to entertain. They are also an excellent way to teach. However, when a story can teach the people listening to it an important point, it becomes something more than entertainment. It becomes a lesson in how to behave, what to believe and what to avoid. There is one major problem with stories. The listener has to decide which ones are true and which ones are false. In addition, even when a story contains an element of truth, the listener still has to decide whether that information is applicable to them and their particular situation. You see, truth is very subjective. What is true at one time or place may not be true at another time of place. Also, what is true for one group of people may not be true for another group experiencing different circumstances. Nowhere is this more true than when someone is considering starting a business using bootstrapping techniques. You see, bootstrapping goes against the grain of one of the biggest stories in the business world. This story is accepted as true by many people who are in business
or are thinking of going into business. However, as we just discussed, just because a story is widely considered true, its truth might not be applicable to you, the bootstrap entrepreneur. This business story involves the path to success. In it a young maverick entrepreneur has an idea. This idea is revolutionary. It’s a game changer. It’s the biggest thing since sliced bread. Heck, it might even be sliced bread. The young maverick believes in this idea so much that he or she will make any sacrifice to see it become reality. This belief is enough to convince investors to put up the cash necessary to make the idea real. The resulting product takes the world by storm and everyone, including our maverick, lives happily ever after. The thing is there is more than one path to success. Yes, big ideas and big money are one way to get there. However, small ideas, servicing small, niche markets are another way, especially when little or no startup money is involved. The point is that when you hear this story, or another one like it, remember to ask yourself if the “truth” in that story applies to you. As a bootstrapping entrepreneur, you know that the only thing that matters is your story and your road to success.

Expe It seems that entrepreneurs everywhere share some of the same traits on a global level. Being able to identify and understand these traits, and how they work will go a long way to helping you develop those same traits within yourself.
1. Money Isn’t Everything The very definition of a bootstrapping means they are attempting to start and build their business with very little funds available. While this may at first seem detrimental, it’s really not! What one lacks in money can easily be reconciled by bringing their own enthusiasm, direction, initiative and determination to the table. Think about sweat equity when buying and remodeling a house. Many people by “fixer-uppers”, knowing that by doing renovations themselves, they can save money. It’s much the same when it comes to bootstrapping. By investing that same sweat equity in your own business, you’re able to build a business without a lot of startup cash.
2. Surviving is Thriving If you’re an entrepreneur who feels they’ve been through a lot in life, you’re certainly not alone. Because being an entrepreneur requires a certain creative, determined mindset. It comes at no surprise that the majority of the successful business owners have experienced many trials and tribulations on their journey to success. They are true survivors! And because they’re good at surviving, they also know how to get ahead – to thrive instead
of just survive. They are resourceful, assertive, and don’t give up. This mindset, and skill set, is invaluable to a bootstrapping entrepreneur.
3. Knowledge is Invaluable Being a Bootstrapper means banking on the knowledge you have in your head. That knowledge can not only make you money, but it can help you get ahead of your competitors. The more you know, the better you can perform for both yourself and your clients.
Staying focused is possibly the most important skill you can develop. By focusing on the goal at hand, and understanding cash limitations, a Bootstrapper can hone in on what will make the best business decisions for their own business, while ignoring what others in their market are focusing on. A bootstrap entrepreneur with awesome focus skills understands that business fads are just that – fads – and they’ll stick with what they know. A bootstrap entrepreneur also knows that the ability to change that laser-sharp focus at a moment’s notice enables them to take advantage of the right things that cross their path for their business. A combination of these important traits will set you on the road to bootstrapping success!

4. Bend, Don’t Break
I know what it’s like to have a career to achieve success. But at some point you get to a point where you wonder is this all? The money is great, but is there more than I’m supposed to be doing?
15
Entrepreneurs have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge that they know is as good as money in the bank. And this knowledge is what can make you far superior to your competition.

no pain - no gain B
y its very nature, bootstrapping involves sacrifice. Just what and how much you’re willing to sacrifice is something to think about at the onset of any new business idea. Having a clear set of boundaries in mind will go a long way towards keeping you focused and organized, and moving toward the goals you have in mind for the business.
Time
Clearly, time is the most valuable thing you can give to your business. A new start up can eat up a great deal of time, so know beforehand just how much time you have to offer your new idea. Some things to think about regarding the time you have available for your new venture would be: • Do you have a full-time job or other great drains on your time? • Do you have small children that require much of your time? • What responsibilities do you have that will require you to devote time to them?
It is said that we have a finite amount of mental energy at any given time. When trying to plan your new business, you will be sacrificing lots and lots of that mental energy. You’ll devote this energy into creativity, ingenuity, being resourceful, and finding ways to get your business up and running without spending a lot of money.
Physical Energy Will you need office space or storage space for your business? If so, you can hire contractors to create that space for you – or you can put in the elbow grease to work with what you have available. Sweat equity has long been a reliable way for the average person to be able to invest in a home that needs a bit of work, and it is no different for a business. If you have the knowledge and skills, you will definitely want to sacrifice some physical energy to get the job done the way you want it.
Money Finally, though bootstrapping is all about using the resources at hand instead of investing money, you will need to put money into some aspects – mostly those things you can not do yourself. An example would be advertising. You must weigh the time and energy it takes to invest in the learning curve against hiring someone with the know on how to get it done right now. The smartest money you can invest is in hiring people to do those things that you can’t, so that you can work on other incomegenerating tasks.
