Shepreth Spitfires Football Club www.sheprethspitfires.co.uk It is great for all of the Shepreth Spitfires to be back in training and enjoying the last of the scheduled tournaments before the season starts. At the Cambourne Tournament, Shepreth had great success across the four age groups that entered. While some Spitfires were too young to play competitively for trophies, the under -13s and under10s did play and both teams brought home some silverware. The under-10s came runners up in the final, narrowly losing to Saffron Walden 2-1 and the under-13s won their age group, beating Cambourne 3-0 on penalties in the final after the match finished 0-0. At this tournament, one of our newest teams also played together, some of them for the first time, and we would like to say how well they did and what great support those boys and girls had from their parents. A further thank you to their coaches, Jamie and Mo, for all of their hard work in preparation for their team's 2021/22 season. Good Luck! A little update on the Spitfires’ goal keepers who train with their teams but also give up another evening to train just in goal. These boys and girls are super members of the teams and are very good at being very loud, as all keepers are! The goalies, as they get older, have dedicated lots of time to their technique by kicking off the floor, while our younger keepers have been reinforcing those 40
