I’m Dr Vida Kolahi, the principal dentist and owner of Cathedral Dental Clinic, where we strongly believe in providing high quality dentistry in a calm, relaxing and professional environment. We offer a complete range of general and cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, dental implants and specialised prosthodontic treatments using the latest equipment, products and technology. My clinical team and I will work with you to reach the highest level of excellence in oral health and achieve your perfect smile. What makes Cathedral Dental Clinic special? My medical team, along with our professional and friendly support staff, will provide you

with a true five-star service and environment to make you feel comfortable and confident about discussing your dental needs and completing your treatments. We are also a specialist referral clinic, and welcome patients from other clinics on either a dentist or self-referral basis to benefit from our expertise. Why did you choose dentistry? Vida: Teaching the importance of good oral health is my main objective, but cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics are my passion. It gives me great pleasure to know that I have contributed towards my patients’ smiles and newfound confidence. Andrew: I experienced a trauma to my teeth as a child and was fascinated with how my dentist completely restored them. Ironically, I was treated at Cathedral Dental Clinic, where I have been practicing for many years now! Attila: At medical school in Hungary, my skills and interest quickly moved towards dentistry. I’m registered as a restorative specialist in Hungary and as a prosthodontic specialist in the UK. Barry: I became an implant surgeon because I am fascinated with how dentistry combines design, creativity, technology and surgery to enhance a person’s smile.

What are your future plans and goals? To become the go-to practice in Cardiff by providing exceptional customer service. To always be at the cutting edge of dentistry so that we can offer our clients solutions tailored to their individual needs.

Pontcanna dental CARE

Charlie Stephanakis 102 Cathedral Road, Cardiff, CF11 9LP Tel: 02920 387683 www.pontcannadental.co.uk Tell us about your practice... The practice provides client-focused general and cosmetic dentistry with a special interest in dental phobics. Our aim is that our clients want to come back and tell everyone else this is the place to go! Our goal is that clients look after their own oral health with a little help from our very gentle hygienist. At Pontcanna Dental Care, we treat people, not just teeth – and hope they feel they are coming to see friends who just happen to do their teeth. Why did you get into dentistry? I didn’t go to the dentist for 10 years. I was so frightened but after seeing a dentist who treated me the way I treat my clients now, I decided to become a dentist myself. What is the most satisfying part of your job? Seeing clients become comfortable coming to see the team. Helping them take back control of their teeth and achieve the goals they want for their teeth without sedation or being put to

How do you help nervous patients? I have empathy with them, having been there myself. I listen carefully to their story, their feelings and needs in our consultation lounge away from the surgery. I repeat it all back to them to ensure they know I have listened and understood. I do everything at their pace – sometimes I may not even look at their teeth at their first visit. I don’t do anything without their permission (they are the boss!) or without explaining what we are going to do. They are always in control. What misconceptions do people have about dentists? That it will hurt and they will not be listened to and are not in control. At Pontcanna Dental Care, the patient is king! We follow three simple rules: 1) They will not feel anything 2) We will not do anything without them understanding what is going on 3) If they want to rest/stop, we will put a dressing on and they can come back at another time. We always allow ourselves plenty of time, so there’s never a rush. We want people to want to come back and tell others this is where they should be coming for dental treatment. We listen!
