Spreading Holiday Cheer and Winning Hearts M. Davis & Sons Gives Back

We believe in the power of community and the joy of giving back. Recently, our team members embarked on a heartfelt mission to spread holiday cheer to U.S. troops deployed around the world. Through our donation drive and volunteerism with Stockings for Soldiers Delaware, we dedicated our time and resources to fill stockings with goodies that would bring smiles to the faces of those serving our nation. Our team's commitment went beyond just contributing items; we actively participated in the "stocking store," where our volunteers worked diligently to assemble and pack these special stockings. It was a humbling experience to know that our small gestures could make a big difference in brightening the holidays for those far away from home. In recognition of our consistent efforts to give back to the community throughout the year, we are pleased to announce that we have been honored with the ABCares Cup from the Associated Builders and Contractors DE Chapter. M2X Energy's Trailblazing Flare Gas to Methanol Project Wins Excellence in Construction Award We are thrilled to announce that we have been honored with the prestigious Excellence in Construction Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors DE Chapter. This recognition celebrates the groundbreaking success of M2X Energy's innovative Flare Gas to Methanol Trailer Mounted Skid project, a testament to the company's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and revolutionizing the energy industry. M2X Energy's Vision: Turning Flare Gas into Sustainable Solutions M2X Energy envisions a greener future by tackling a significant environmental challenge: the flaring of natural gas. Flaring releases harmful methane into the atmosphere, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. M2X Energy's pioneering technology transforms flared natural gas into sustainable chemical products. The heart of this revolutionary process is a small-scale, modular, and autonomous gas-toproduct system, mounted on a trailer for convenient transportation. Project Scope: Engineering Excellence on Wheels The uniqueness of the project lies in its scope, where most equipment is strategically mounted on a trailer frame or structural skids. The challenges were as monumental as the goals, with the project team facing the task of retrofitting equipment onto a pre-purchased trailer. The Fluitron compressors, known for their weight and complexity, posed a particular challenge. 3D modeling became the linchpin in optimizing weight distribution on the trailer frame and overcoming hurdles posed by the existing equipment. Overcoming Challenges: A Symphony of Innovation The road to success had challenges, including the need for resizing and redesigning electrical panels due to space limitations caused by equipment layout modifications. The M. Davis electrical group collaborated with the system programmer to ensure no compromises were made to the system's operational integrity. A critical concern was the potential for wiring connections to loosen due to vibrations during travel and operation. The solution came in the form of vibration-dampening supports on high and low voltage panels, a testament to the team's dedication to addressing every nuance.

The challenge of excessive vibration during compressor test runs led to the installation of flexible expansion loops and inflatable airbags. These innovative solutions not only isolated compressor vibrations but also prevented the transfer of vibrations to the trailer frame. The meticulous design, review, and approval process, involving industry experts like MacIntosh Engineering, ensured the highest standards of safety and functionality. Innovative Solutions: Charting New Territory The deployment of airbags under each corner of the large compressor support frame marked a turning point, isolating vibrations and securing stability during operation in remote locations. The team's commitment to innovative problem-solving extended to modifying vertical supports and installing additional structural steel to support equipment above the compressors, showcasing their adaptability and foresight. Glycol System and 3D Modeling Precision: Going the Extra Mile The glycol system, not originally part of the 3D model, required on-the-fly design based on Fluitron compressor test data. Stainless steel braided hoses replaced piping for cooling, balancing the need for efficiency and expediency. Recognizing the challenges posed by field modifications, the project team commissioned EDiS for laser scanning to ensure accuracy before reinstallation of the roof and side curtains. The Team Behind the Triumph: M. Davis Project Team Led by Jack Hatfield, Project Manager, and Marc Brown, Project Engineer, the entire M. Davis project team demonstrated unwavering dedication. Engineering Manager Sean Boston provided invaluable assistance, ensuring a seamless collaboration that propelled the project to success. Moving Forward: A Bright Future for Sustainable Solutions The completed M2X trailer-mounted skid is now en route to North Dakota, where it will play a crucial role in turning flare gas into methanol. This first-of-a-kind prototype not only addresses environmental challenges but also sets a new standard for excellence in construction.
