Michael A. Gilmartin Assumes the Role of President and CFO

Michael Gilmartin brings 25 years of extensive experience in the construction industry to his new role as President and CFO In addition to maintaining his current responsibilities as CFO, Gilmartin will now oversee strategic presidential duties, contributing to the continued success and growth of M. Davis & Sons, Inc.

John C Gooden, the former President, will continue to play a pivotal role as Chief Operating Officer, ensuring a seamless transition and providing continued leadership

Gilmartin holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and has augmented his qualifications through strategic courses at The Wharton School, The University of Pennsylvania He has also completed project management and leadership training through Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA)

M. Davis Weld Training Program named Finalist!

For nearly 25 years, M. Davis has been providing a unique opportunity for our employees to elevate their expertise and advance their career in welding Our in-house welding training program is a testament to our dedication to employee development This program stands out as an opportunity for any team member with experience in welding to practice with certified welding instructors and further their welding capabilities.

As a company, we firmly believe that investing in our workforce pays dividends in terms of job satisfaction, skill retention and productivity.

Our certified weld instructors who completed their training through American Weld Society bring their knowledge and ensures that our workforce meets the highest quality standards.

We offer private training rooms at our Kennett Square, PA and Havre De Grace, MD facilities

Over the last year the program witnessed an impressive participation rate of 84 employees attending weld classes. Among the participating, 48 welders obtained welding certification and 9 employees obtained a difficult brazing certification.

The program helps to build a competent and skilled workforce and is a testament to our commitment to shaping a workforce that is not only proficient but instrumental in driving economic prosperity

Spotlight: Fabrication of Column

Why were we selected

Scope of Work

A large chemical manufacturer needed us to build a replacement column.

Design was completed and approved for fabrication in mid-November 2023

Difficulties

The M. Davis ASME Code Shop verified the structure measurements on site throughout the 100 ft elevation and established location connections on the column to avoid interferences while still accommodating the internal distillation components.

Resources: M Davis has the resources to analyze external loads and devise practical fabrication details to accommodate those loads

Skills: We have the skill set to verify conditions on the customer site to assure the column would be installed seamlessly into their process system

Commitment: Our commitment to maintain the schedule ensured the column was fabricated and ready for installation before the customer’s scheduled outage.

Quality: Our quality workmanship and best-in-class welding supplied the customer with a vessel that will withstand years of continued use.
