SPEAKERS Robert C. Bell, CBET, CRES Director of Education Tri-Imaging Solutions Robert C. Bell is a 22-year Navy veteran who retired in 2016 and immediately began working with Tri-Imaging Solutions. He is a noted speaker who has presented at MD Expo, AAMI and ICE. He is passionate about the HTM community due to medical experiences with family, equipment and the decline in staffing. He has multiple degrees in biomedical electronics as well as an associate degree in education. He is also a Navy Master Training Specialist.

Jon Benedict, PMP, HCISPP, GCCC Director of Information Security and Jump Team Operations The InterMed Group Jon Benedict, PMP, HCISPP, GCCC, is the Director of Information Security and Jump Team Operations for The InterMed Group, in Alachua, Florida. He brings a breadth of experience to this role having worked 20+ years delivering IT and IT security assessment and remediation programs to clients in health care, energy management and the telecommunications industry. He is presently working toward his master’s degree in information security management from the SANS Technology Institute.

Andrew Bowden Imaging Engineer Block Imaging Andrew Bowden began working at Block Imaging about five years ago. He started working closely with engineers and began diving into CT, R/F, RAD, mammography, bone densitometry and cath lab installs and de-installs. In his time at Block Imaging, his focus has shifted specifically to C-arms. In working with C-arms, he has been trained in refurbishment, repair and service of several makes and models, but his primary focus is on OEC systems. He spends most of his time working at the Block Imaging facility in Holt, Michigan, but 4 | ATTENDICE.COM

also has two years of experience traveling to perform service on C-arms for customers in the United States and abroad.

Mike Busdicker, MBA, CHTM System Director – Clinical Engineering Services Intermountain Healthcare Mike Busdicker is the system director of clinical engineering services at Intermountain Healthcare.

This non-profit IDN consist of 23 hospitals, 185 clinics, homecare services, and is based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Busdicker oversees HTM operations for the entire health care system. This includes over 110 full-time employees, 96,000 pieces of biomedical and laboratory equipment, and over 3,500 imaging devices. Prior to his employment with Intermountain, he held leadership positions with independent service organizations and in-house HTM programs. He is an active member of AAMI, ACHE, UHE, HIMSS, NH-ISAC, MDSISC, and is a member of the AAMI Technology Management Council.

Jessica Chambers, MHA, RT(R)(CT) Director of Diagnostic Imaging SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital-St. Charles Jessica Chambers is currently the director of imaging for SSM St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles, Missouri which includes two freestanding OP imaging centers. She is also the St. Louis network CT consultant, overseeing the CT policies and protocols at all SSM St. Louis facilities and manages the 3D lab which remotely post processes all CT images for the entire St. Louis region improving the image quality and efficiency of the CT departments. Her background started with a six-year enlistment in the U.S. Air Force in which she was a radiology technologist and then the Non Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of CT. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, she began her career with SSM and has been with that organization for 10 years. She has a Master’s of Health administration from the University of Phoenix and, on a more personal level, she has been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for four years.

Dale Cover, CRES

Dale Cover joined RSTI in 1990. During his time with RSTI he has held several positions including lab instructor, technical instructor, senior instructor and training manager. He served as vice president and director of training from 2009-2013 when he was promoted to president. He received his electronics training in the U.S. Army as well as leadership, equipment maintenance management, instructor and personnel management training.

Upon graduating, he accepted a job at Select Medical where he serves two roles. Dave Francoeur has over 30 years of proven business, technical, leadership and operational management experience. He has worked at several companies within health care covering all aspects of the profession. His areas of experience in the HTM space include in-house, insurance, manufacturing and independent service organizations. His comprehensive knowledge in the HTM field is the contributing factor to his success in leadership roles. His passion is to infuse new ideas, challenge the status quo and take business system performance and productivity to the next level. His contributions to the profession include serving as president of five different local biomedical societies, chair of the United States Certification Committee, founding member and chair of the Technology Management Committee. He currently sits on the board of AAMI as well as many other industry-supporting activities.

Mario Pistilli has been in the health care field for 26 years with increasing responsibility. He originally trained as a nuclear medicine technologist having received bachelor’s degrees in nuclear medicine technology and chemistry from University of Saint Francis in 1990. He completed an MBA focused in business analytics and health care administration from University of Saint Francis and is currently director of imaging services at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

He is currently enrolled as a doctoral candidate in business administration from California Southern University with a focus on advanced mathematical data modeling and applied statistics.

He is also very active in the Association of Healthcare Radiology Administrators serving on the regional membership committee.

John Garrett Manager Clinical Engineering Catholic Health Initiatives John Garrett has 20 years of experience in imaging service including general radiation, mammography, CT and nuclear medicine. He has worked for thirdparty service companies, manufacturers, sales companies and in-house imaging teams. He holds a Bachelor of Science in health and human services management from Wilberforce University.

Jordan Hermiller, MHA, RT(R)(QM), CPHQ Senior Radiology Advisor, Select Medical Radiology Manager, Select Specialty Hospital Jordan Hermiller received his Bachelor of Science degree in radiological sciences and therapy from Ohio State University in 2010. He then worked for three years as an imaging technologist at a private, doctor-owned orthopedic center and a large, acute care hospital. From 201416, he attended a top-ten MHA program at Ohio State University.

Jim Rickner Sr. Director of Technical Services Conquest Imaging Jim Rickner has over 30 years of experience in electronics with degrees in electronics physics, and teaching. He has over 10 years of ultrasound field service and repair experience. He is a renowned instructor and sought out speaker in the ultrasound industry, having taught hundreds of biomedical engineers, BMETs and CBETs. He is a well-respected teacher who instructs from a field perspective.

Manny Roman, CRES Business Operations Manager Association of Medical Service Providers Manny Roman has over 35 years of experience in the HTM industry. His experience encompasses work with manufacturers, independent servicers and training organizations. He is co-founder of two diagnostic imaging service training and support centers. He writes the “Roman Review” for TechNation magazine and provides management and personal development presentations at regional and national conferences.

Chris Schaefer Biomed Imaging Manager New York Presbyterian Hospital Chris Schaefer joined Technicare Corp. in 1979 after six years in the U.S. Navy maintaining 3D air search radars before he advanced to technical coordinator and logistics manager for the New York service area. When Johnson and Johnson closed Technicare’s doors in 1986, Schaefer became a co-founding partner for Deccaid Services, a third-party imaging maintenance company in the New York metropolitan area. In 2005, he joined NY Presbyterian to start the in-house imaging service group at Cornell. He ultimately advanced to imaging service manager New York Presbyterian.

Wendy J. Stirnkorb, CRA, MBA, RT (R) (MR) MRSO (MRSC) TM, PSG, HSDQ Director of Imaging Services Regional West Medical Center Wendy Stirnkorb is a graduate of the University of South Alabama. Her educational background is in radiologic sciences and in finance. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in leadership and development. She is the director of imaging services and the dean of the school of radiology in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, overseeing a staff of about 150 employees in the imaging modalities of diagnostic X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, imaging administration, PET/ CT, breast health, the radiology program of the school of radiology and the imaging nursing team. Stirnkorb is a certified radiology administrator and a Mayo Clinic Quality Fellow. She is currently building her LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt portfolio. She teaches MR physics and MR safety, mentors new technologists and imaging leaders and serves on several patient advisory committees. She is a member of ARRT, ASRT, SMRT, ISMRM and AHRA. She is a past board member for the WSRT, currently serves on the American Board of MR Safety and is a marketing committee member for SMRT. She also serves on the AHRA national steering committee for advancing education, research, leadership and advocacy of imaging professionals. She speaks globally on MR safety, advocating for all MR patients and technologists to have a safer MRI environment.

Thomas Szostak Director of Healthcare Economics Toshiba America Medical Systems Tom Szostak is the director of healthcare economics for Toshiba America Medical Systems and an expert on health care policy. He serves as an advisor to purchasing organizations, health systems and medical societies in matters regarding health economics, policy, reform and reimbursement. He has authored a series of papers on the Affordable Care Act for AHRA and published white papers on the

economics and outcomes on the acute stroke population through changing clinical pathways. He was recently appointed to the patient navigation advisory board at the University of California at Irvine Medical Center where he serves as a member at-large. The board is tasked with improving the patient, family and caregiver experience with a focus on cancer care. With more than 19 years of experience in health care economics, he has held several financial and economic positions at companies including B. Braun Medical and Radiology Practice Management. He also is a member of the American Society of Health Economists and the Healthcare Finance Management Association.

Jef Williams, MBA, PMP, CIIP Managing Partner Paragon Consulting Partners LLC Jef Williams is managing partner for Paragon Consulting Partners LLC, a Sacramento, Californiabased health care consulting group. He has a master’s degree in business administration and is certified as a project management professional and is a certified imaging informatics professional.

His knowledge includes more than 25 years of management and leadership position experience in both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. His expertise lies in leading complex initiatives including large-scale health care IT strategy, business case analysis and solution implementations for public and private sector clients.

He speaks regularly and is published on industry issues including operations, management, enterprise transformation and health IT.

AAMI Credentials Institute (ACI) now offers the independent certification testing in the areas of biomedical, clinical lab, and radiology formerly offered by the International Certification Commission (ICC). The radiological endorsement is called Certification for Radiological Equipment Specialist (CRES). The test consists of a series of multiple choice questions divided into 5 sections. Up to 6 hours are allowed for completing the exam.

This 8-hour course is designed to teach the experienced service professional the requisite knowledge necessary to successfully pass the radiological portion of the CRES test. The subjects include radiation physics, radiation safety, anatomy, physiology, X-ray equipment use, CDRH compliance testing, electronics, and troubleshooting. Sample testing during this program helps to reinforce good testing techniques and confidence in the process.
