LETTER TO MEMBERSHIP Dear Members, Happy New Year to you and all your families! We look forward to another great year together and want you to know our team is here for you. Our goal each day is to provide you with an experience you deserve as members of such a great club. The club should be your getaway, a daily vacation where you can enjoy great service, great food, and a fun experience at whatever activity you choose to use at the Club. As always please let us know if we can provide anything for you.

2021 was a record year for Holston Hills Country Club! We saw membership growth that is unprecedented in recent decades. As Membership Director, Dara Jenkins, has helped us reach new heights. When we were purchased by McConnell Golf in December of 2015 we had a total of 399 members. As of December 31, 2020 we had 471 total members. As of the time of this writing we are up to 557 total members. This is truly remarkable growth and is very exciting for the future of the club.

2021 saw the Korn Ferry Tour VisitKnoxville Open played at Holston Hills Country Club for the first time. The event was a huge success! The players were all very complimentary of the golf course and the hospitality. Our staff worked tirelessly without complaint and performed at a very high level. Thank you to our members that volunteered to help make this first year seamless and we look forward to an even better event May 9-15, 2022. Our goal is to become the most well respected tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour and 2021 was a great first step.

Congratulations to our Club Champions in 2021: ·Tanner Davis, Men’s Club Champion ~ 3 years in a row! ·Melissa Walsh, Ladies Club Champion ~ 8 years in a row! ·Todd Burgan, Men’s Senior Club Champion ~ 2 years in a row! ·Tessa Tarr, Ladies Senior Club Champion ~ On her 1st try!

We also continue to make a strong showing on the State level as Todd Burgan won the TN Mid-Amateur Championship for the 4th time and Jeff Golliher won the TN Men’s Senior Match-Play Championship.

We are so proud of our staff that we must stop for a minute and thank them for the effort they put in on a daily basis. So many of them show up each day ready to get the job done and they work together as a true team. McConnell Golf recognizes our team as very unified and in sync together and this unity makes it so much fun to come to work each day.

Please take a moment to thank any of our team members you come across for all the great work they do and the effort they put forth on a daily basis.

2022 looks to be another record year as we continue to grow. We are very excited about all the programs and events we have planned. Please be sure to visit the website to review the 2022 event calendar and mark your calendars for the events you hope to participate in.

Lastly, as a team we just want to thank you for supporting the club and our team. Your kindness and genuine care for the club and us as a staff is heartfelt. We are so blessed to have such a great club and be surrounded by so many fun and caring members. We cannot thank you enough for all you do to make Holston Hills Country Club one of the best clubs in the Southeast!

MEMBERSHIP Membership for 2021, will definitely be one for the record books. Welcoming a total of 118 new families to the Holston Hills family!

Within those families: 36 were Resident Golf, 4 Corporate Golf and 25 Young Executive Golf, which was our fastest growing membership this year. We started offering a new membership in June, our Sports Membership. Which offers new members limited golf access. We welcomed a total of 18 new sports members.

Because of our loyal members like yourself, the excitement of the Holston Hills Country Club growth has created a BUZZ around the club.

58% of our new members came from member referrals! WOW!!

We are so grateful for the pleasure of serving you (& your family) and hope we met your expectations. Please don’t hesitate to call, text or email us if you have any questions and/or feedback on past or upcoming events. We have already been working on plans for 2022, revamping so past events, adding in some new, and continuing to make this club the best in Knoxville and the surrounding areas.

DINING EVENTS A LETTER FROM CHEF PATRICK My staff and I, would first like to say Thank You to every Holston Hills member! It means the world to us that you continue day in and day out, to come and dine with us. Working here has been special for all of us.

Over the years we have heard members and guests tell us that we are “the highlight of their day” and that they “feel very safe” in regards to dining with us during the Pandemic and those with Dietary restrictions.

We are very proud of those statements and complements. We view our members as feeding our extended families.

(Continue) METHOD OF PREPARATION Cook until the sausage is ‘crumbled’, browned and fully cooked Drain the sausage and set aside Return the pot to the stove and add the chicken stock, potatoes, salt and red pepper flakes.

Bring to simmer and cook until potatoes are fork tender.

Using a slotted spoon remove 1 cup of potatoes from the pot and place them in bowl and set aside.

Mash the potatoes and pour back into the bowl to help thicken. And kale and cream, stir to combine and cook for 5-10 min Serve hot and garnish with shredded parmesan cheese. ENJOY!

In January we will be hosting a Tailgate watch party for UT Basketball as they take on the LSU Tigers on Saturday, January 8th. More details to come in the HHCC Weekly Happenings. Mark your calendars now, our Sweetheart Wine Pairing Dinner, will be on Saturday, February 12th. The three course wine pairing dinner is a perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your significant other or even a group of friends.

We will release a menu in mid-January.

This issues recipe is from one of my staff members, Frankie. Many of you know Frankie, he just hit his 5 year anniversary with us in early December.Frankie makes most of our soups here at Holston Hills Country Club. This is one of my favorites that he has made. ~Patrick Budniewski, Executive Chef

COOKIES OF THE MONTH

TUSCAN SAUSAGE WITH KALE SOUP INGREDIENTS 1 LB Hot Italian sausage 1 cup Heavy Cream 6 cups Chicken Stock/Broth 6 Russet Potatoes, cut into ½ in cubes ½ tsp kosher salt 1 tsp minced garlic ¼ tsp ground black pepper ½ tsp crushed red pepper (optional) 4 cups chopped kale (or spinach) METHOD OF PREPARATION eat a sauce pot over medium high heat Add in Italian Sausage and cook stirring occasionally to break it up, add in garlic.

We will be making Valentine’s Day mailboxes, Valentine’s treats, and other cute activities. So, whether it’s for their friend, favorite teacher, or whoever. At Kids’ KNIGHT Out, we will be learning how to be a proper knight, play games fit for royalty, and keeping the kingdom safe from threats. *Dinner and snack included!

KNO: Star Wars FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 25th I 6:00-9:00pm Ages: 4-10 (bathroom independent) $20 Are you on the light side or the dark side? Send your young jedis to KNO to find out! We will decorate our very own lightsabers, enter pod races, and head to the cantina all while mastering the art of becoming a jedi. WEAR RED DAY WEAR RED DAY IN SUPPORT OF HEART HEALTH FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 4 I LOOK FOR THE RED HEARTS!

POLAR BEAR PLUNGE SUNDAY, JANUARY 30 I $15 PER PERSON Take the plunge! Come out and take part in McConnell Golf's Save the Polar Bear Plunge benefitting the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), whose mission is to conserve nature and reduce the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth. For us, this jump will be a direct link to protecting the Arctic and the polar bear population by restoring the loss of sea ice habitat.

Join us on Friday, February 4 for Wear Red Day as we raise awareness about cardiovascular disease. Post a photo wearing red on social media and tag us @McConnellGolf using #WearRedandGive. We encourage you to make time to incorporate better nutrients in your meals, eat more fruits and vegetables and limit the amount of artificial trans-fat you intake.

On this day, all members will be jumping into the icy waters at their home club pool at the same time across three states. Make your club the leaders in giving back by having the most participants and raising the most money. After the jump, warm up with a bowl of chili and hot chocolate! Order a pint of chili to bring home with proceeds supporting WWF and the Polar Bear mission as well!

HEART HEALTHY MONTH IN FEBRUARY Eat healthy, be heart healthy and improve your overall health! As part of McConnell Golf's company-wide initiative during the month of February, your club's culinary team will be offering a Heart Healthy Meal Package set to Feed 2, 4, 6 or 8 people. With the purchase of each meal kit, a portion of proceeds will go directly to the American Heart Association.

The meal kit will include two (2) 6-ounce filets of True North Salmon, 6 ounces of Blanched Haricot Verts, 6-ounce Blanched Red Bliss Potatoes and 1 ounce Lemon Herb Compound Butter. $38 (Serves 2) - cooking instructions and seasonings will be provided.

SATURDAY TEE TIMES SATURDAY, JANUARY 8th thru SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 26th I 10:00am (shotgun start) Saturday tee times will be set as a10:00am shotgun starts. We will allow for 20 groups and we will keep a waiting list as well. Slots in the shotgun start, can be held by normal online booking and will be available the Wednesday in advance at 7:30 am.

If the shotgun is full and you wish to be placed on the waiting list please contact the golf shop at 865-525-0626. The Golf Shop will take away any unfilled slots 24 hours in advance to free spots for others.

Certainly we anticipate frost delays. If we know days in advance we will move the shotgun to a later time and notify the members. Always keep an eye on the tee sheet for day of notifications in case it is unclear the day before and the staff has to make a last minute decision to delay.

As many of you know, our pre-holiday challenge was extended, making it somewhat of a holiday challenge. All of our participants showed great determination throughout the duration of this event. We would like to congratulate our winners, ___ & _____ (insert names & add pictures) on a job well done during this challenge. These individuals exhibited great amounts of effort and consistency over the eight-week training period which not only allowed them to achieve their goals but also set them apart from the competition.

TUESDAY - FRIDAY I 6:30-7:30am $30 Group classes are back and better! Start your day with an energetic, hour-long training session held Tuesday through Friday from 6:30 am to 7:30 am (excluded from all promotional offers**)!

It has been a fantastic year and I am still so glad to be here. The Winter season is here. Just a reminder, Holston Hills Country Club's tennis program is year round. I'm available for individual and small group lessons. I'm also currently working on the event schedule for 2022, and I couldn’t be more excited.
