SUMMER 2021

THE MUSTANG ROUNDUP CONNECTING GRANDPARENTS AND SPECIAL FRIENDS WITH MAYFIELD JUNIOR SCHOOL

A Note from Head of School, Joe Sciuto

Head of School, Joe Sciuto

Welcome! Grandparents and special friends play a vital role in our community, as loving supporters of our students and their education. We hope you enjoy reading about what's new at Mayfield Junior School and the many ways you can stay involved!

As we close out the 2020-2021 school year, we are all so pleased to have been back together as a community on our wonderful campus for the last several months. I know that our students, faculty and staff, and parents have all enjoyed this return to “normalcy.”

because that is not moving forward. There are things that we have done during the last year and a half that are better for our children and community, and we will continue to explore best practices in delivering our Holy Child program as we move forward with optimism.

As we end this school year we are of course, already looking ahead to the 2021-2022 school year. We are planning a fully in-person, oncampus school schedule that will look more like our schedule did before COVID-19.

We expect to receive new school guidelines and protocols from the city, county, and state by mid-summer, so it is too early to anticipate what those may be, but we will keep everyone informed throughout the summer.

We will go back to three Homerooms per grade level in the Lower School, and our Middle School schedule and class sizes will also be more traditional. We are investing deeply in our Student Services programs so that our students continue to be even more surrounded by the outstanding socialemotional and academic support they are used to throughout their years at Mayfield.

My prayers are with all of you for a healthy, safe, and happy summer. Our time together with our students on campus this school year was too short, but I am proud of everything that we have accomplished, and I know that our students felt loved, supported, and challenged. They are all ready to take on the challenges and experience the joys of the next grade level. As I told our 8th graders at their graduation ceremony, there is a lot to look forward to and a lot to be optimistic about. Let us all continue to be inspired by the optimism of our Mayfield children. Thank you for all that you do for Mayfield Junior School! .

We are also reimagining our 5th grade program since it is such a crucial bridge between our lower and middle schools. We have learned a lot during the pandemic, and we never want to simply get back to “normal”
