We are thankful for the generosity and spirit of our Mayfield community, especially our alumni and alumni parents and their heartfelt investment in our school’s future.
Blue and White Day of Giving • May 31, 2024
We held our 3rd annual Blue and White Day of Giving on May 31 to correspond with the student Blue and White Field Day. Alumni of all ages were challenged to join the Blue Team (odd grad years) or White Team (even grad years) to see which team could make the most contributions to the Mayfield Fund. Online donors ranged from the class of 1972 through the most recent class of 2024, and ultimately the White Team won for the second year.
New this year was the parent-of-alumni “stack the pancakes” challenge. For decades, parent volunteers have provided a pancake breakfast for Mayfield students before the field games begin. Our digital giving campaign revisited this tradition, encouraging alumni parents to give to the Mayfield Fund and each gift would add one pancake to the stack. It was a fun way to incorporate the parent experience of this memorable day.
With the support of new and returning donors, contributions increased 40% during our 2024 Blue and White Day of Giving versus the previous year. Thank you to all who participated to benefit Mayfield Junior School!

Benefit 2024: Monaco Nights
April 20, 2024 was a great day for Mayfield Junior School! Nearly 400 guests including current parents, alumni, faculty and staff, and friends gathered at Noor in the Pasadena Paseo for a glittering night to celebrate MJS with music, games, dancing, and fun. The lively “Casino de Mayfield” featured poker, craps, blackjack, and roulette tables while the ballroom hosted live jazz, dancing, Formula 1 race footage and an impressive sushi bar.
Monaco Nights took place under the direction of co-chairs Marcel Lopez P’28 and Yennis Wong P’24, ’27 and their event committee. Their vision was to create an evening as fun as it was fruitful, with more time to mix and mingle and enjoy the company of the Mayfield community. Guests agreed it was a fantastic party.
Each year, the Benefit raises funds for Mayfield’s Endowment while a fund-a-need opportunity supports a special, designated cause. This year, through sponsor and patron support, raffle ticket sales, casino play, and a record-breaking online auction, the event raised $170,000 for the Endowment and another $50,000 for new instruments for Mayfield’s symphonic music program. These funds helped Mayfield achieve a 1-to-1 student-instrument ratio for the 2024-2025 school year.
The annual Benefit continues to be a beloved Mayfield tradition that unites our community in support of Mayfield’s students and Holy Child mission.

Each year, donors provide the additional resources needed to maintain Mayfield’s excellent programs. These generous contributions from our community also allow the school to plan and execute upgrades to our facilities and curriculum to “meet the wants of the age” through the years. We are grateful!
Mayfield Junior School accepts many kinds of gifts, including:
• Cash
Current cash gifts are deductible for income tax purposes to the full extent allowed by law and may be made with cash, check, or credit card.
• Appreciated Securities
A gift of appreciated stock or other capital assets can result in significant tax savings. You may be able to obtain a tax deduction for the full market value of the gift and avoid paying tax on the gain.
• Matching Gifts
Many employers will match employees’ donations, increasing the impact of a single gift and providing an additional source of income for Mayfield Junior School. Inquire with your Human Resources Department if your employer matches charitable gifts.
• Qualified Charitable Distributions
Donors who are 70 ½ or older can direct an IRA distribution directly to Mayfield. For those 72 or older who must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), an IRA gift is a simple way to give while reducing one’s taxable income.

Mayfield is honored to accept grants from private foundations, corporate foundations, donor-advised funds, and other grant-making organizations for unrestricted or designated purposes.
• Memorial or Honorary Gifts
A contribution in honor or memory of a loved one can be a cherished gift to an individual or family. Our Holy Child sisters, faculty and staff, and students remember these special intentions in prayer at School Masses.
• Planned Gifts
Mayfield accepts planned or estate gifts of life insurance, charitable trusts, bequests, or real estate. A donor may wish to consider these gift vehicles as a way to reduce or avoid estate and inheritance taxes while making a larger impact for Mayfield. Those who choose to direct a planned gift are welcomed into the Euclid Society of donors.
