California dreaming Drawing inspiration from sunny California and their multi-cultural family, Sampson and Lorrie Black’s designs are bright, whimsical and cheerful. The duo form Black Studio and are exhibiting for the first time in the Design District at Surtex. They create fun and usable patterns for every aspect of living – from wallpapers and carpet to bedding, clothing and tableware. They will have 127 patterns from nine collections on show at Surtex. Classic watercolour Nicole Tamarin returns to Surtex for her fifth consecutive show with her classic watercolour art. This year she will be a panellist for the 2016 Conference Programme, as well as conducting one of the three pre-show webinars for new and returning exhibitors. From her soft feminine florals to traditional holiday imagery there is a subtle sophistication which comes through every collection. Nicole's work can be found on quilting fabric, gift wrap and bags, garden flags, paperware, home décor, wall art, stationery, rubber stamps, invitations and greeting cards.
Living in the heart of a creative community in Kansas City continually inspires Sarah Beise to create happy, light-hearted imagery. Now in her ninth year at Surtex, Sarah’s designs have found their way onto all kinds of fun products, including fabric, yard flags, window clings, stickers and scrapbooking materials, greeting cards, gift bags, party table top decorations, lighted 3D characters, games, puzzles and even DQ ice cream cakes. She will be introducing multiple new designs to both her every day and holiday collections at Surtex this year. Booth 443
A splash of Dot Dash With beautiful patterns and quirky characters ideal for a wide range of products, Dot Dash Design will be returning to the show with a plethora of new exciting artwork. Influenced by seven years of professional design experience working with some of the UK’s top brands, the Dot Dash 2016 Collection combines humour with a variety of art styles; all infused with a splash of colour. New ranges include the expansion of the popular Fruitytoots gang, and a new collection of ‘Sushi Cats’ inspired by a recent trip to Japan. Seaside inspiration A fresh new face at Surtex this year, Danielle Murray creates hand-painted illustrations that are arranged digitally into elegant designs and patterns. Her artwork has been featured on a range of products including fabric, wall art and paper goods and her collection offers plenty of holiday, floral, kitchen and nautical artwork. She is inspired by past times, past places and the seaside Victorian town she resides in. Booth 255

Channelling the 1950s UK-based designers, Jessica Hogarth and Jules Mckeown make up The Pattern Social and are exhibiting at Surtex for the first time this year. Their designs have been used across a broad range of product areas. These include outdoor furniture, apparel, stationery, yardage fabrics and kitchenware. They are both fans of 1950s design work and this influence is apparent in their portfolio. Their design portfolio covers a broad range of subject matter, Jessica has a large collection of coastal and travel inspired artwork, whilst Jules focuses more on striking geometrics and fun florals.
