The Bahrain Grand Prix, being a night race, is always one of the most anticipated races of the season. The latest edition, which took place between April 1 and 3 this year, was no different. Thousands of Formula One (F1) fans were in for a spectacular treat as Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg claimed his first-ever victory in the 2016 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at a brilliantly floodlit Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir on April 3 evening. With this, Rosberg joined an exclusive club of drivers who have won five consecutive Grands Prix – the Bahrain Grand Prix win was his fifth in a row dating back to
the final three races of the last season and including Australia a fortnight before Bahrain. The German driver led much of the race by a comfortable margin and at the end of the 57-lap challenge was classified 10.2 seconds in front of Kimi Raikkonen. “It’s been an awesome weekend,” he said at the podium after winning the race. “The key was the start; I had a quick getaway and from then on I was trying to control the pace. It’s absolutely awesome to get the win,” he added. This was Sakhir's third night race and upheld its status as the only desert F1 track amongst the 21 races worldwide.

A characteristic of the course at BIC is the giant run-off areas, which have been criticised for not punishing drivers who stray off the track. However, they tend to prevent sand getting onto the track and make Bahrain one of the safest tracks in the world. The next time you're in Trivandrum, travel 35 kilometres north to pay a visit to the Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary, which is worth all the effort. Spread over 128 kilometres the sanctuary envelops the scenic Neyyar lake created by the Neyyar dam. The entire patch wears a green-blue look due to the abundant natural vegetation surrounding it and the water body has led to a variety of wild animals and birds making the sanctuary their home. Apart from an occasional tiger, leopard or an elephant, unique species of animals like the sloth bear, nilgiri langur, nilgiri tahr, lion-tailed macaque, bonnet macaques and exotic birds like whitebreasted water hen, woodpeckers, brahminy kites, little green heron can be spotted here. There's more. The area is also covered with almost 1,000 species of medicinal plants.

What attracts most visitors in the park is the Lion Safari Park, crocodile farm and deer park The Agasthyamalai -- Kerala's second highest peak (1,868 m) -- is a popular tourist destination located inside the sanctuary but what attracts most visitors is the Lion Safari Park, crocodile farm and deer park. The Kappukadu Elephant Rehabilitation Centre located outside the dam premises allows visitors to even scrub and bathe elephants apart from indulging in some exciting elephant rides!
Lion Safari Park Adventurists looking forward to chance upon a meeting with the king of the jungle can opt for a lion safari at the Lion Safari Park. The entry charges for the safari include a tour of the park in a canter (bus/truck) or an open jeep, a boat ride across the picturesque Neyyar lake, a visit to the deer park and the crocodile production centre.
Rehabilitation Centre What started as a crocodile farm in 1977 was established as a Crocodile Rehabilitation and Research Centre in the year 2007. The main activity of the centre is breeding and rearing mugger crocodiles. These crocodiles are later released in the Neyyar lake near the dam.
How to get there Travel by air or rail from Trivandrum. Also there are KSRTC buses that ply daily from Trivandrum. The KTDC office in the city also runs tours to Neyyar Dam. Options are plenty when it comes to accommodation, ranging from rest houses, dormitories and lodges, which are available at very affordable prices.

في المرة القادمة عندما ت��زور تريفاندروم ،سافر إلى منطقة ناير للحياة البرية التي تقع على بعد 35 كيلومترا إلى الشمال من تريفاندروم وتستحق الزيارة. وتمتد هذه المنطقة للحياة البرية على مساحة 128 كيلومترا وتحتضن المناظر الخالبة لبحيرة ناير والتي هي نابعة بفضل سد ناير .وهناك المنظر األخضر واألزرق في جميع أماكن منطقة الحياة البرية بسبب الغطاء النباتي الطبيعي الذي يحيط المنطقة ،وقد أدى وجود المياه بوفرة إلى أن اتخذت مجموعة متنوعة من الحيوانات والطيور البرية هذه المنطقة المأوى.

The uniqueness of Multan in Pakistan is that it comes with a Sufi touch. Located at the 'bend' where the five mighty rivers of the country meet, Multan has more tombs of saints and Sufis gathered at one place than anywhere else on Earth. No wonder then that it has come to be known as the 'City of Saints'. Then there are the old forts and tombs, the historical gates and, not to forget, the bazars.
Day 1 Re-visiting history You can easily spend about half a day or more at the Multan Fort, which is in the middle of the city. There are now only remnants of this old fort placed atop a high mound of earth, which was once considered one of the best forts in the subcontinent. Don't forget to visit Shah Rukn-eAlam's mausoleum inside the fort, over 100,000 pilgrims visit this place every year from South Asia.
Within the fort complex, the other mausoleum you can visit is the one belonging to Baha-ud-din Zakariya. The mausoleum was almost ruined during the 'Siege of Multan' in 1848 by the British, but was soon restored. There is also a park inside the fort, which has some memorials from the Raj era.

Sufi sojourn Major attractions of Multan are its mausoleums. The domes of some of them are visible from miles away and dominate the skyline. Apart from the mausoleums of Shah Rukn-e-Alam and Bahauddin Zakariya (located inside the Multan Fort), some that are worth a visit are Hazrat Shamsuddin Sabzwari Multani and Shah Gardez.

You are now the captain of the ship. How different is it than being an employee?
Women are naturals when it comes to making the right choices of food
Tell us something about the transition. I started my career with Gulf Air in 1993, in the Sales Department. At that time, I was also pursuing my higher education in Banking and Finance at Bahrain University. I gave up my job at Gulf Air in 1998, though I was enjoying my life travelling places and exploring cultures, to join the banking industry. But when the banking sector started seeing a decline, the idea of having my own restaurant struck me. I’ve been cooking at home and for friends for the past 17 years. A push from family and friends gave me the strength to follow my passion. I travelled to Paris to join the Alain Ducasse School of Cooking to study cooking and enhance my skills. I also visited Spain and Singapore later for the same.
What motivated you take to cooking in life?
Being a boss hasn't changed me at all. We work as a team. I believe it leads to better productivity and helps develop new ideas in a healthy environment.
Cooking is considered a women's forte, but 90% of chefs are men. Your thoughts. Women are naturals when it comes to making the right choices of food. As far as men being good chefs is concerned, I feel one reason for it can be that they are more open to taking risks.
A lot of people hesitate to follow their passion fearing financial instability. Your word of advice for them. It certainly requires guts to take such a step. But keep believing in yourself. My advice to everyone is, take a good look inside your self, identify what you'r good at and follow your heart. Rest will follow.
Do you plan to open more outlets in future? Frankly, right now I'm not thinking of it. I have to make sure that I fully stand on my feet with no mistake, which is very hard as every person makes mistakes. But you have to keep learning from it. But I do wish to have a branch at Oman (Muscat) someday.
I have grown up in a large family consisting of parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts, and everyone is passionate about food and cooking. So it was natural for me to have an affinity towards the art.
When did you open your first restaurant in Bahrain? How is it different from others? I opened my restaurant in November 2015. I’m as involved in the kitchen as my assistant cook or the rest of the staff. I believe a relaxed mind can create wonders and hence I've strived to create a homely atmosphere at my restaurant. The ambiance (a cottage-style house with pleasing French design and décor) too has been designed keeping the same in mind. All this ensures that we deliver our best.
What's your signature dish? It's Spanish Paella. I had loved it the first time I had it. My version has a twist and I mostly focus on seafood since we live on an island. I usually combine European, Far East and Middle Eastern flavours.

بدأت مسيرتي مع شركة طيران الخليج في عام 1993م باالنضمام إلى قسم المبيعات .وفي ذلك الوقت ،كنت أتابع أيضا دراستي العليا في العلوم المالية والمصرفية في جامعة البحرين .وعلى الرغم من أنني كنت أتمتع بحياتي بالسفر من مكان إلى مكان آخر وأستكشف الثقافات تركت وظيفتي في شركة طيران الخليج في عام 1998م من أجل االنضمام إلى القطاع المصرفي .ولكن عندما بدأ القطاع المصرفي يشهد االنخفاض نشأت في مخي فكرة فتح مطعم خاص لي .وكنت أطبخ الطعام في المنزل ولألصدقاء على مدى السنوات الـ 17الماضية .فكانت هناك دفعة من العائلة واألصدقاء مما أعطاني القوة لمتابعة شغفي ،فسافرت إلى باريس لالنضمام إلى مدرسة آالن دوكاس للطهي لدراسة الطبخ وتعزيز مهاراتي كما زرت أيضا أسبانيا وسنغافورة في وقت الحق لنفس الغرض.
كيف نشأت الرغبة في الطهو في حياتك؟
ترعرعت في عائلة كبيرة مكونة من األبوين واألج���داد واألعمام والعمات ،وكان كل من أفراد العائلة متحمسين إزاء الطعام والطبخ ،لذا كان من الطبيعي بالنسبة لي أن يكون عندي رغبة في فن الطهو.
متى فتحت أول مطعم لك في البحرين؟ وكيف تختلف مطاعمك عن المطاعم األخرى؟
فتحت مطعمي في شهر نوفمبر 2015م .ورغم انشغالي في المطبخ مع مساعدي في الطهو وكذلك بقية أعضاء فريق الطهو ،اعتقد أنه يمكن خلق المعجزات من خالل اإلسترخاء واعطاء الذهن الراحة ولذلك اسعى لخلق جو عائلي في المطعم .وقد تم تصميم المطعم على نمط الكوخ الفرنسي إلعطاء المطعم جوا عائليا هادئا ،ونحن نبذل قصار جهدنا لتوفير ما هو األفضل.
ما هو أفضل طبقك؟
إنه البايال اإلسباني ،وأحب هذا الطبق منذ أن ذقته للمرة األولى ،وأركز كثيرا على المأكوالت البحرية نظرا ألننا نعيش في جزيرة .وعادة ما أجمع بين نكهات أطباق أوروبا والشرق األقصى والشرق األوسط.

كثير من الناس يترددون في متابعة شغفهم خ��وف��ا م��ن ع��دم االس��ت��ق��رار ال��م��ال��ي ،بماذا تنصحهم ؟ في الواقع ،إن اتخاذ مثل هذه الخطوة يتطلب الشجاعة ،ويجب عليك أن تثق على نفسك .وأنصح الجميع بالرجوع إلى أنفسهم وتحديد المجال الذي يرغب فيه ،واتبع قلبك ،ومن ثم سوف يتبعك الباقون .

بكل صراحة ،ال أخطط ذلك اآلن ،ومن الالزم أن أكون متأكدا من أنني أصبحت أعتمد على نفسي دون خطأ ،وهو أمر صعب حيث كل شخص يرتكب األخطاء ،ولكن يجب علينا أن نتواصل التعلم من األخطاء ،أتمنى أن يكون لي مطعم فرعي في عمان (مسقط) في يوم ما.

Ragheb Subhi Alama راغب عالمة Ragheb Subhi Alama (Born June 7, 1962) is a Lebanese singer, dancer, composer, television personality, and philanthropist. Alama began his career in the 1980s when he appeared as a contestant on the talent show broadcast Studio El Fan, on which he received the Platinum Award.
