Field School Study

From April 26 - May 11 of 2022, my fourth year class and I went on a Design Field School trip across Canada to study further in the realm of design and the built environment. We visited three cities; Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec for the three week duration. Gaining experience and insight from people who were well knowledged about design and how it is incorporated for tying in cultural and historical aspects of Canada.

Students were in charge of keeping a sketchbook with them along with a schematic lens that would help them sketch what they want to learn and takeaway from the trip. I chose a lens of comparing old architectural system to new ones and how they are joined or different from one another, how it makes a difference in design positively or negatively.
