Introduction
The Urrego family, born and raised in Columbia, are looking for a new start to raise their family here in Vancouver, BC. A keynote that we took away from the aspects of their old home is needing help finding other solutions to produce their food since 60% of their family income goes towards purchasing food.

The Jardin Home will blend the gardening tasks and connect them with family to create an affordable solution to producing their food and increase the amount of gardening space throughout the home.

Due to the high percentage of income that goes towards buying food…how can we design to increase the amount of gardening space and biophilia throughout the interior and exterior of the household, as well as managing natural light for the growth of organic foods?




Design Solution
From this takeaway, we wanted to create opportunities for gardening for not just the exterior of the home but within it, blending the gardening aspect and regular home tasks together. We are also utilizing light wells to bring in more natural light and room for planting produce within the atmosphere of the home
