The Problem

Gathered from our research, the desire and uprising of the filming production in Vancouver have created hardship for smaller industries to search for a flexible place to stay during film production. Users alike seek deeper connections within the industry.

Therefore, how might we design to foster lively and meaningful interactions between the industry and lovers of film and provide functional amenities for visiting users to enhance their stay?

Primary Users

Our targeted users are mainly small film production workers that would be away from their hometown to film in the city and need a temporary place to stay while working. As well as having the opportunity to include other users of the film community like movie buffs and post-graduates that want to further connect with the industry

Program

Our design concept for Northwood Hotel is to emerge users of the space through a lively environment derived from the dramatic character and emotion of film to create different experiences.

The whole projects design, the materials and FF&E will be selected based on the modern adaption of Art Deco and Hollywood regency for connecting to the character of old the Hollywood and its historical significance in film

Inspiration

Our designed experience for this bar lounge was to reflect an the iconic film 'The Great Gatsby' and by enhancing the essence of Art Deco through the selection of FF&E and its sleek geometric character. Mood
