mason editions are a Italian company, from the Veneto region, specialized in the lighting sector. The idea to give life to a new brand of furnIshing elements, designed for a sophisticated, demanding public, and sensitive to the theme of sustainability, was born from the meeting between the entrepreneur Fabio Mason and three independent designers with internatinal experience. Composed of furnishing accessories, objects and lights, the first collection of Mason Edtions is linear, eclectic, timeless. Aiko nasce dalla volontà di esplorare il linguaggio essenziale dei prodotti minimal scandinavi e giapponesi. L’uso di volumi rigorosi e geometrici ma al tempo stesso morbidi, delinea le due sculture domestiche, adatte ad ogni spazio della casa, dalla cucina alla camera da letto. Due forme essenziali, un rettangolo ed un cerchio, che si combinano e permettono di creare piccole composizioni. L’essenza naturale del legno è valorizzata dalla scelta di due verniciature opache che ne esaltano la bellezza intrinseca. L’utilizzo del legno massello inoltre, garantisce al prodotto longevità e calore.
Aiko was born from the desire to explore the essential language of minimal Scandinavian and Japanese products. The use of rigorous and geometric volumes but at the same time soft, outlines the two domestic sculptures, suitable for every space of the house, from the kitchen to the bedroom. Two essential shapes, a rectangle and a circle, that combine and allow you to create small compositions. The natural essence of the wood is enhanced by the choice of two matt varnishes that enhance its intrinsic beauty. The use of solid wood also ensures the product longevity and warmth.

Il nome giapponese scelto per la collezione non traduce una parola bensì una labile immagine, un’atmosfera indefnita, esattamente “il riflesso della luce sull’acqua”. Un foglio di vetro colato di 1 cm di spessore, la cui foggia ricorda una foglia o una barca leggermente mossa dal vento, appare come sospeso su una base sottile, costituita da unaserie di bacchette metalliche che si incrociano sul lato corto, fino a formare un esile trespolo. Il sole sembra attraversarlo gentilmente.
The Japanese name chosen for the collection does not translate into one particular word but, rather, a fleeting image, an impalpable atmosphere created by “the reflection of light on water”. A sheet of glass crafed in a thickness of one centimetre, whose shape recalls that of a leaf or a boat slightly tilted by the wind, appears to be suspended over a dainty base consisting of a series of metal rods, intersected on the shorter side to form a slender trestle. The sunlight seems to traverse it gracefully.

Un leggero tondino in metallo che si appoggia sul piano per poi risollevarsi, sembra sfiorare la superficie con un rapido tocco, definendo i manici dei vassoi Touché. La forma morbida della base, tonda o ovale, dialoga con il sottile tubolare dando l’impressione di un moto ondulatorio perpetuo, che sembra svanire quando si osservano i vassoi in pianta.
A light metal rod that rests on the surface and then lifts up seems to touch the surface with a quick tap, defining the handles of Touché trays. The organic shape of the base, round or oval, combines with the thin tubular giving the impression of a perpetual undulating motion, which seems to vanish when the trays are looked at from above.

La collezione comprende tre oggetti con differenti forme e funzionalità.
La decisa impronta estetica di Mia è data dal contrasto che si crea tra le morbide linee della parte inferiore in metallo, e l’utilizzo, per la parte superiore, di un materiale fortemente architettonico come la lamiera forata. Una divergenza che è ulteriormente evidenziata dalla marcata quadrettatura del decoro scelto per la lamiera, resa particolarmente elegante dal trattamento nelle due finiture in oro e nichel, mentre la parte inferiore viene verniciata con colori opachi ma dalla forte matericità.
The collection includes three objects with different shapes and functions. Mia’s decisive impression is given by the contrast that is created between the soft lines of the lower metallic part, and the use, for the upper part, of a strongly architectural material such as perforated metal sheet.
A divergence that is further highlighted by the marked squaring of the decoration chosen for the sheet, made particularly elegant by the treatment in the two finishes in gold and nickel, while the lower part is painted with opaque colours but with a strong materiality.

Lixula è un progetto particolare quanto sorprendente che trae ispirazione dall’esoscheletro dei ricci di mare, l’arbacia lixula appunto, una forma semisferica suddivisa da meridiane ben visibili.
Lixula vase design is a particular and surprising project inspired by the exoskeleton of sea urchins, the arbacia lixula, a semi-spherical shape divided by clearly visible sundials.

Dall’ideazione alla realizzazione il processo è stato lungo e ricco di incognite. Materiali naturali, componenti di origine meccanica e sapienti mani hanno dovuto adattarsi e coesistere al fine di creare un oggetto unico. La raffinata arte dell’intreccio in midollino si fonde con l’antica tecnica della tornitura in lastra, due mondi lontani ma accomunati da valori autentici e dalla volontà di salvaguardare il capitale umano italiano.
From conception to realization the process has been long and full of unknowns. Natural materials, components of mechanical origin and skilled hands had to adapt and coexist in order to create a unique object. The refined art of wicker weaving blends with the ancient technique of slab turning, two distant worlds but united by authentic values and the desire to safeguard Italian human capital.

Fugit è un vaso costituito da un foglio metallico che sembra rincorrersi e chiudersi su di sé, generando un’alternanza di pieni e di vuoti. La sottigliezza della lamiera regala all’oggetto una evidente leggerezza, mentre le forme rigide e gli angoli acuti o retti disegnano un vaso scultoreo e dalla forte anima architettonica. L’estetica spigolosa e asimmetrica di Fugit dialoga con l’elemento organico e la morbida materia del fiore in un gioco di contrasti che trova ogni volta un equilibrio diverso, variabile anche a seconda del mutevole punto di vista dell’osservatore.
Fugit vase consists of a metal sheet that seems to chase and close on itself, generating an alternation of fullness and emptiness. The thinnes of the sheet gives the object an obvious lightness, while the rigid shapes and the acute or 90 ° angles design a sculptural vase with a strong architectural soul. The edgy and asymmetric aesthetics of Fugit dialogues with the organic and soft matter of the flower, in a sequence of contrasts that finds a different balance every time, and that also changes according to the observer’s point of view.

Costituito da una barra longitudinale in metallo che accoglie su due lati elementi 0cilindrici, Petit è un oggetto caratterizzato da un design rigoroso e minimale, che gioca sulla proporzione e sulla distanza tra gli elementi, per conferire al progetto una dinamicità e una insolita asimmetria, che lo distingue dall’equidistanza compositiva dei più classici candelabri.
Consisting of a longitudinal metal bar supporting cylindrical elements on both sides, Petit is an object defined by an austere and minimal design, played out on the proportions and distance between the elements to give this project a dynamic look and an unusual asymmetry, which sets it apart from the compositional simmetry of more traditional candelabras.

Meet the Desig ners
Martina Bartoli was born in 1986 in Sansepolcro.
During her studies in Interior Design at Politecnico di Milano she seized the opportnity to spend two years abroad; at the Glasgow School of Art first, and at ENSCI Les Ateliers of Paris after, focussing her interest in product design.
From 2011 to 2015 she worked as a product designer at Palomba Serafini Associati studio, developing furniture pieces and lights for several international and Italiancompanies. She’s been working on interior desIgn projects for Zanotta since 2015, while carying on with her independent design studio.
Serena Confalonieri (1980) is an indipendent designer and art director based in Milano. She works on product, graphic and textile design projects and collaborates with many italian and international companies. After a Master Degree in Interior Design, she started her career working in many architecture and design practices in Milano, Barcelona and Berlin, and collaborating with the Interior Design Faculty of Politecnico di Milano.In 2013 she makes her debut at Milano Design Week with her Flamingo rug, produced by Nodus. uring the years she’s been selected for design residencies and workshops in Italy and abroad (New York, Mexico,Portugal), her works have been published by important newspapers and magazines (The New York Times, Corriere della Sera, Il sole 24 ore, Wallpaper, Interni, Ottagono, L’Officiel, Elle Décor…) and won prizes such as a Special Mention at the Young&Design Awards 2014 and at the German Design Awards 2016.

Matteo Fiorini is an art director and designer based in Milan. His studio is involved in art direction, interior design, product design projects and video/photo productions in various fields: from yachting, to jewelry, from furniture and exhibition design. For some important brands, he is doing strategies for corporate identity, exhibit/shop concepts and communication.
Quaglio Simonelli is the creation of two designers Andrea Quaglio and Manuela Simonelli. They were born in Italy, they live in Paris, they work in Europe, Asia, America. The result of the meeting between two complementary sensibilities, their products has been nourished by their history, by the creative gaze they direct on the world that surrounds them and by the mutation they love to induce on it. Thinking that diversifcation is a source of creative richness, they design technology products, create furniture and decorative objects, conceive the visual identity and product design for beauty brands, alternating industrial logic and artisanal approach. They design objects that look familiar, yet contaminated with unexpected and poetic elements. Their philosophy: never see things as they are.

Luca Barengo was born in Biella in 1986, he moved to Torino for university studies, in 2010 he attended the IAAD (Istituto d’Arte Applicata e Design), where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design. During the collaboration with famous designer such as Luca Nichetto at Nichetto&Partners in Venice, and Lorenzo Palmeri in Milan, he has edited different projects of various nature and purpose, also following the design of exhibition stands and showrooms. He has designed and still designs today with institutions as the municipality of Parma and Turin and international companies like Baccarat la Maison, Bentley Home, Fendi casa, Giorgetti, Giugiaro, Luxury Living Group, Pininfarina extra. From 2014 to 2017 he was a designer and product engineering at Minotti S.p.a in Meda. In 2018 he has open his design studio in his hometown, Biella. In 2012 he already held his first conference at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lissone alongside a master like Andrea Branzi for the Matrioska Design Conference.
ferriani.sbolgi is a creative studio with a focus on product, furniture design and art direction, founded by Marco Ferriani and Sara Sbolgi. Through the products we try to communicate an emotion. Clean shapes, calm and silent lines capable of harmonizing with the surrounding environment. The new projects are, for us, an opportunity for experimentation, fundamental importance is given to the search for materials and processes capable of giving added value to the product. Ideas and inspirations are collected in various ields: art, architecture, design, craftsmanship, nature and more, always with the desire to design timeless products capable of binding to any environment. The studio attaches great importance to the richness given by different personalities, but also to a shared design idea. Through dialogue and teamwork, when there is an agreement on a line, a detail, a special material, the idea is transformed into a concrete project.
