Summer School will begin on Thursday, June 12, 2025, and will end on Friday, July 18, 2025. There will be no school on Thursday, June 19 (Juneteenth), and Friday, July 4 (Independence Day) due to the observed holidays. All summer classes for grades K – 12 will be held on the Grade School Campus this year due to campus improvements on the high school campus.

DROP-OFF & PICK-UP
Driveway supervision for K-8 students will be at the Halekula Way driveway only. There will be no supervision at the Dole Street driveway. All drop-off and pick-ups outside of designated hours will be done inside the Extended Learning Offices, please use the Dole Street driveway.

Regular and punctual attendance is mandatory. A parent or guardian must report all student absences and to the Office of Extended Learning before 7:30 a.m. on the day of the absence. To do so, please contact the Extended Learning Office at (808) 952-7340 or summer@maryknollschool.org.
When the student returns to school, please submit a written explanation signed by a parent and/or a doctor to the Extended Learning Office. Failure to provide documentation will result in the absence being classified as unexcused, and teachers will not be obligated to provide make-up work or tests.
No supervision will be available for students before 7:30 a.m. Children dropped off before that time, will be asked to wait in front of their first class. All students are expected to be picked up immediately after their last scheduled class.
Summer School has an informal dress code that is designed to create a respectful learning environment. Students should present themselves neatly and cleanly. Slippers and Crocs in good condition are allowed, but students enrolled in sports and recreation classes must wear athletic shoes. The following attire is prohibited:
• Clothing with vulgar language or images
• Torn, faded, or excessively short shorts
• Midriff-baring tops
• Spaghetti straps and strapless shirts
• Shirts with holes or cuts
Students wearing clothes deemed inappropriate by administration will be sent home immediately and/or their parents notified.
Students are expected to follow the established standards of conduct that emphasize respect for teachers, fellow students, and school property. Those who do not demonstrate appropriate behavior should be prepared for disciplinary actions, which may include suspension or expulsion.
Final grades (academic classes only) for all students will be distributed to students on the last day of summer session, July 18, 2025. Non-Maryknoll students are responsible to forward summer school grade reports to their home schools. Students absent for report distribution will need to pick them up at the Extended Learning Office, no later than Friday, July 25, 2025. There will be NO MAILING of grade reports.
Please be aware that some classes may require additional school supplies. Supply lists will be sent home during the first week of classes. For students registering for academic classes, please ensure your child brings basic supplies to class, including pencils, pens, paper, and a pocket folder.
Summer school registration is available online only. We recommend reviewing the catalog before registering to note your class selections, meal options, Summer Fun activities, Summer Camps, and Summer Huaka‘i.
To register, please follow the provided link. There, you will need to enter your name, email, phone number, address, student name, select their incoming grade for the 2025–2026 school year, and choose a shirt size if registering for the Spartan Basketball Camp and/or Summer Huaka‘i. If your child is not participating in either program, please select “NONE” for the shirt size option.
Summer school is a 4-hour program, and you must fill all 4 hours with classes. Please complete the registration process for each student separately. You have three options for course selection:
1. Choose two classes that are each 1 hour and 55 minutes long.
2. Choose one class that is 1 hour and 55 minutes long and two classes that are each 55 minutes long.
3. Choose four classes that are each 55 minutes long.
Out-of-state and country students must provide a current TB clearance (signed by a U.S. doctor), prior to the first day of Summer School. Digital copies can be sent to summer@maryknollschool.org. Students will NOT be admitted to summer school without proper medical clearance.
The deadline to register for the Maryknoll Summer Program is Monday, April 21, 2025. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend registering early, as classes have limited availability and fill up quickly. Maryknoll School reserves the right to cancel a course if enrollment is low.
Confirmation of your child’s class schedule will be emailed by Monday, May 19, 2025. Registration submitted after April 21, 2025, will incur a late fee of $75.00 per student and will be accepted on a space-available basis only. Students who register after the deadline, as well as those who request changes to their schedule, will receive their class schedule as soon as class rosters are confirmed.
Any changes to a student’s registration after April 21, 2025, will result in a $50.00 administration fee. This fee will be waived only if the change is initiated by Maryknoll School or its faculty and staff, with final approval from the Director of Extended Learning.
For students who withdraw on or before Monday, April 21, 2025, 50% of the program fees for each course will not be refunded. No refunds will be provided for withdrawals requested after Monday, April 21, 2025. Additionally, there are no refunds for any missed classes.
Prospective international students must possess an independent user level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English to register for Summer School. Effective communication is essential, and any student found to be unable to communicate proficiently will be removed from the program without a refund.

The program will incorporate experiences in individual and group activities to develop skills in listening, speaking, reading, and math readiness, and independent work. These activities will help the children improve their social skills, creativity, and physical development. The students will begin handwriting of single phonograms and numbers (1–10), using proper grip. By incorporating a variety of activities and subjects, the program will help the children build a solid foundation for future learning.

Through individual, small group, and whole-class activities, the skills of reading and writing will be practiced and developed. Additionally, grammar and vocabulary will be integrated into the curriculum to strengthen language skills. Students will also have opportunities to participate in discussions and activities that promote communication and collaboration. English proficiency commensurate with grade level is expected of all students.
