Vaccination Site Security Tips WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER RECEIVING A COVID-19 VACCINE Millions of people around the world have now been safely vaccinated against COVID-19, bringing us all one step closer to getting back to doing more of the things we enjoy with the people we love. For many the COVID-19 vaccines couldn’ t come fast enough, but others understandably have questions about the vaccination process and what to expect when it comes to their turn. Take care of yourself. Get a good night’ s rest and hydrate well before your vaccination so you can feel your best on the day. Refrain from allowing strangers to follow you into a building or restricted areas after you have opened the door. Stay safe. Make sure to follow safety precautions at the vaccination facility such as physical distancing while waiting and wearing a mask. Communicate. Let the health care professional know if you have any medical conditions that could be considered precautions, such as pregnancy or a compromised immune system. Keep your records. You should receive a vaccination card that tells you which COVID-19 vaccine you received, when you received it and where you received it. Make sure to hold on to this card in the event that you need it in the future. Walk with groups of people whenever possible. Stick to well‐populated busy areas. A random act of opportunistic theft only takes seconds to occur, Never leave your valuables unattended or left in plain sight. Keep your purse, wallet, keys, and other valuables with you at all times. Stay for monitoring. The health care provider should observe you for about 15 minutes after the vaccine is administered to make sure you don’ t have any immediate reactions. However, it is extremely rare for severe health reactions. Be prepared for some side effects.

Tips for Women on Staying...

SAFE & SECURE

Gender violence is in our news daily… Which is something that we cannot look away from! Instead, it needs to be highlighted if we want to prevent similar criminal acts from happening in the foreseeable future. Here are a few practical tips to help you stay safe: As you approach your vehicle observe around, and inside your car. Don’t be a target by turning your back while loading packages into the car. Make it your habit as soon as you enter the vehicle, lock your doors, start your car and drive away immediately if possible. From a young age try to instill in your children to practice entering the car quickly. Go with groups of people or with a buddy to your vehicle. If you absolutely must be alone, avoid going when it’s very late and inform someone of your whereabouts before you leave your location and when you’re safe. Store unattended valuables out of sight when parking your car. Don’t park in visually obstructed areas near walls or heavy foliage. Watch out for people loitering in the area or handing out items. If someone tries to approach, change direction, or run to a busy store. Change your routine from time to time Don’t resist: “If you are ever confronted by an armed carjacker don’t resist. Look to escape, and give them the car.”

"If you think something isn’t right, it probably isn’t. Trust your Gut...” Derek Smith FOUNDER - S.E.S.L LTD.

Obviously, these problems aren’t strictly “women’s problems,” and overall solutions require conversations and preventative measures from all genders.
