EFFECTIVE SECURITY MANAGEMENT

To address the issue of better management with regard to the human element, we must first acknowledge the fundamental truth about management. Improving your management skills requires the time and development of traits which will best suit your and personality and management style. In the long term, companies that delve in and actually concentrate on creating systems to help with guard management are far more successful, resulting in achieving development and profitability.

THE TRIANNUAL | PAGE 2

Recently, we began exploring how technology can be utilized to improve operations and without a doubt, specific elements of management have been simplified to make even more room for continued growth. Simultaneously, other aspects of overall management must be closely looked at such as defusing conflict rather than igniting it.

Understanding your security force will benefit you as a manager. Objective measurement in terms of continuous training, and key performance indicators are extremely useful in managing the performance of your security force; and to maintain client satisfaction.

TRAVEL

CONTINUES Do your research Before traveling, it is of utmost importance that you have in-depth knowledge about your destination. Ensure to read traveler reviews and consult with locals for information about the safest neighborhoods, places to stay, and incidence of crime. An additional travel security precaution is to know whom to call should an emergency arise. Ensure to get the contact information for the nearest embassy or consulate, police station, and other local emergency departments.

Make copies of important documents We live in a world of unpredictability, you never know when you might need a copy of documents such as your passport, driver’s license, or other forms of identification. It is advisable that you scan and save these documents online or on a flash drive as well as print out several hard copies. This will assist you in locating proper documentation with ease. Public internet can be quite convenient; however, you should not allow this convenience to cloud your judgment. Using public WIFI makes it easier for hackers to gain access to your personal data including credit card information. Setting up a virtual private network (VPN) while traveling is a safer practice that allows you to access the public internet. THE TRIANNUAL | PAGE 5

Do not draw attention Sometimes, it is easy to distinguish a traveler from a local or a citizen. Often times, individuals that look like they are from out of town are especially susceptible to crime. To avoid this, you should try to blend in as much as possible. Your choice of clothing should be inconspicuous, which helps you avoid attention. Investing in protective clothing and gear that will make it difficult for pickpockets to steal money and other personal items is also a great security practice. Use reputable transportation companies It is important to research reputable taxi companies of the country that you plan to visit, once this is done, use only the services of these companies. If you’re travelling abroad and plan on using services such as Uber or Lyft, ensure to double check the driver’s vehicle information and verify their name before getting into the car with them. Create a safe, supportive school climate (e.g., school-wide behavioral expectations, caring school climate programs, positive interventions and supports, and psychological and counselling services). Encourage students to take responsibility for their part in maintaining safe school environments, including student participation in safety planning. Reiterate the school rules and request that students report potential problems to school officials. Remind students of the importance of resisting peer pressure to act irresponsibly. Create anonymous reporting systems (e.g., student hotlines, suggestion boxes, and “tell an adult "Systems). Control access to the school building (e.g., designated entrance with all other access points locked from the exterior). Monitor school guests. Monitor school parking lots and common areas, such as hallways, cafeterias, and playing fields. Include the presence of school resource officers, security guards, or local police partnerships. Use security systems.

The Role Women Can Play In the Security Industry The security industry is undergoing a paradigm shift, whereby more women are entering what has traditionally been a male-dominated field. Specific to the conventional physical Security Officer profession, where their career pathways traditionally began in the field of law enforcement, the convergence of physical and cyber security has provided additional opportunities. Organizations recognize the value of not only diversity, but also the keen eye for detail, multi-tasking, compassionate nature, and fresh outlook that a female workforce brings to the industry. As a result, there are more leadership development and mentoring programs aimed at the success of women in security. More innovative ideas and better adaptability to the fast changing world are all benefits of a diverse team. In a workplace where women are valued, they thrive, and alongside a goal oriented organization, they can motivate others to collaborate, work more efficiently and increase overall productivity. Employees My Philosophy of Work by Peter Duntin © all rights reserved

Hard work is the greatest teacher, We learn through our life experiences, and our greatest failures, The work we do should always be educational, The epiphanies we experience should often feel personal. Through hard work, we discover our strengths and weaknesses, Like a teacher, we realize how important this is, Hard work is often the path to success, Through countless efforts, we gain uninterrupted access. There is nothing in life we cannot achieve, If we stay focus, be persistent, and continue to believe, Work is our bread and butter, for some, it is their life, Some allow themselves to play, while others allow themselves to have sleepless nights. Work is a reward in itself; it gives us intrinsic happiness, Let us think to ourselves, how blessed are we to be doing this? Work aid in bringing us closer to our goals, We must continue to climb mountains, swim oceans and trample all forms of hurdles.
