It is my profound honor to welcome you to our 32nd Annual Beautillion Militaire Celebration on behalf of the Cincinnati Queen City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Founded on January 13, 1913, by twenty two collegiates at Howard University, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has always kept scholarship and public service as priorities.
One of the ways this chapter has brought these priorities to life is the development of this program that celebrates the brilliance and possibilities of young Black men as they prepare for adulthood. While the world has been thrust into the uncertainty of a pandemic for the last two years, our chapter has not lost sight of the challenges young Black men face. It is, therefore, important for programs like this to exist to provide safe spaces for exposure to mentors and life lessons for these young men to prepare them for these inevitable life challenges. Although the pandemic catapulted this program into a virtual format, the content remained meaningful and enjoyable. During this year’s program, these seven young men have had the opportunity to learn the importance of a strong resume, interviewing skills, personal finance management, and self worth from various mentors The beloved actor Sidney Poitier once said, “I always wanted to be someone better the next day than I was the day before.” It is our hope that each of these gentlemen feel he is better because of their participation in this program
To the parents and guardians of our beaux, we wholeheartedly extend our thanks to you for charging your sons to our care We pray that each of you has witnessed the positive influence this experience has been for them. We know that this program is a family affair and appreciate you all. Clearly, this program could not have been a success without our Beautillion Committee, which was chaired by Ms. Kimberly Hamilton and Mrs. Sonuel Smith. The Committee employed out-of the box thinking as they curated sessions of relevance and interest. Immense gratitude is extended to our mentors and presenters who shared their expertise and wisdom with these youth.
Beaux, you were born to fly. You have the wings and have been shown how to use them. We are proud to have provided you with just a bit of a push. Take your rightful place above the clouds and soar. Always remember that to whom much is given, much is required. We are looking to you to reach back and bring others along as you soar. Continue to make us proud and know that we are some of your biggest cheerleaders.
Sincerely,
Dara M. Kendall Chapter PresidentWelcome to our 32nd Beautillion Militaire Celebration! This year, we honor 7 African American young men that will join the ranks of 386 former Beaux who have successfully completed the Cincinnati Queen City Alumnae Beautillion Militaire Program. One of our signature programs since 1990, the Beautillion Militaire has awarded over $450,000 in scholarships.
Addressing the needs of the African American community for 109 years, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. has established several key programs. The Beautillion Militaire program was designed to recognize exceptional minority young men who have embraced the importance of education, community service, and leadership which aligns with the mission of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Due to the continued pandemic and for the safety of the Beaux, this year we embarked on our, first ever virtual program format. With dedication and perseverance these 7 young men showed up for virtual sessions and stayed the course. To the Beautillion Class of 2022, we salute you. We honor you for your commitment and resiliency. Your dedication and participation in this uncharted arena of a virtual Beautillion speaks to your qualities that make you poised to be great leaders. It is our hope that each Beau learned valuable skills, created priceless memories, and made connections that will endure them for a lifetime. Our prayer for each Beau is that you continue in your greatness. Shine your light in dark corners and use your voice for good works. Move steadfast towards your dreams.
Special thanks to all who made the Beautillion Militaire program a success this year:
∆ The exceptional Beaux for all your hard work and dedication
∆ The parents for the time, money, and commitment to these fine young men, ensuring their participation throughout the program
∆ The workshop facilitators for your hours of volunteering, guidance, and presentations
∆ The Beautillion Committee for your challenging work in organizing and planning to ensure this year’s program was a success
∆ The businesses, organizations, and patrons for your financial support. Beaux: “obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” Colin Kaepernick

Delight thyself in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalms 37:4
The Victor
If you think you are beaten, you are. If you think you dare not, you don’t If you like to win but think you can’t, It’s almost a cinch you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost. For out in the world we find Success begins with a fellow’s will It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed, you are. You’ve got to think high to rise. You’ve got to be sure of yourself before You can ever win the prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go To the stronger or faster man. But sooner or later, the man who wins Is the man who thinks he can.
