All runner and spectator bags, backpacks, purses, etc., will be screened by U.S. Marines and subject to search by law enforcement. Participants will be provided a clear plastic bag during Packet Pick-up at the Healthy Lifestyle Expo. Only these clear plastic bags will be allowed at the Baggage tent located near the Historic Half start area.

ABOUT THE

MARINE CORPS MARATHON ORGANIZATION

Marine Corps Historic Half Weekend, comprised of the Healthy Lifestyle Expo and the Marine Corps Historic Half (MCHH), is hosted by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization (MCMO).

Celebrating its 17th year, the MCHH welcomes runners from throughout the country and world to run the scenic and landmark-filled streets of Historic Fredericksburg, Virginia. The “Greatest Half in History” has gained a reputation for its Hospital Hill, a 0.53 mile segment in which elevation doubles from 100 feet to 200 feet. This challenging section comes at the 10.5 mile mark and is in the middle of a two mile uphill climb that eventually peaks at Cowan Boulevard. After conquering Hospital Hill, runners make their way to the finish line.

The MCMO hosts multiple events throughout the year, all with the spirit of the Marine Corps.

The 2024 MCMO Event Schedule is as follows:

• March 23: Marine Corps 17.75K

• May 19: Marine Corps Historic Half

• August 24: Quantico 12K

• October 26: MCM Kids Run

• October 27: Marine Corps Marathon, MCM50K & MCM10K

• November 23: Turkey Trot 10K & Mile

IRON MILE COMPANY

Named after the Iron Mines Company, a mining and smelting operation founded in nearby Spotsylvania in 1725, the 82 runners comprising the Iron Mile Company have completed every Marine Corps Historic Half since its inception in 2008.

Membership in this exclusive group must be maintained by continuing to run and finish the Historic Half every year. Since 2017, a finish in the Devil Dog Double also qualified. The current company is comprised of 27 women and 49 men. The youngest runner is 32; the oldest is 77. Iron Mile members hail from 9 states with 23 runners from right here in Fredericksburg!

Each runner in the Iron Mile Company has displayed their dedication and resiliency by conquering the distance virtually in 2020 and 2021 before returning to once again run live in 2022 and 2023. Who will continue to be Iron Made in 2024?
