SUMMARY ABOUT THE BOOK

The story starts with the ten-yearold Harry Potter, who is an orphan that lives in the fictional London suburb of Privet Drive, with the Dursleys. He lives with his uncaring Aunt Petunia, loathsome Uncle Vernon, and spoiled cousin Dudley. The Dursleys barely tolerate Harry, and Dudley bullies him. One day, Harry is astonished to receive a letter addressed to him in the cupboard under the stairs . Before he can open the letter; however, Uncle Vernon takes it. Lots of letters for Harry subsequently arrive each day, in increasing numbers, but Uncle Vernon tears them all up, and finally, in an attempt to escape the missives, the Dursleys go to a miserable shack on a small island. On Harry’s 11th birthday, a giant named Hagrid arrives and reveals that Harry is a wizard and that he has been accepted at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He also sheds light on Harry’s past, informing the boy that his parents, a wizard and a witch, were killed by the evil wizard Voldemort and that Harry acquired the lightning-bolt scar on his forehead during the fatal confrontation.

Upon arrival at the school, the students are sorted into one of four houses— Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. Harry ends up in Gryffindor, and during his first year at Hogwarts he becomes close friends with two other members of the house, Ron Weasley, who comes from an old wizarding family, and Hermione Granger, whose parents are Muggles, people that aren't magical. Harry also finds that he has an enemy in Draco Malfoy . In addition, Harry’s prowess in flying on a broomstick makes him a star of Gryffindor’s Quidditch team. Hoping to get Harry and his friends into trouble, Draco tricks them into leaving their rooms one night, a violation of school rules. While trying to avoid being caught, they discover a threeheaded dog guarding a trapdoor. Harry gradually comes to the conclusion that Professor Snape, who teaches Potions, dislikes him intensely and is trying to get hold of whatever is behind the trapdoor. Harry receives his father’s cloak of invisibility as a Christmas gift, and, while exploring under the cloak’s cover, he finds the Mirror of Erised, in which he can see his parents. Later, headmaster Albus Dumbledore explains that the mirror shows the viewer’s deepest desire.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione deduce that the treasure under the trapdoor is the Philosopher’s Stone, which can transform metal into gold and can also confer immortality. They later discover that Voldemort has been killing unicorns in the Forbidden Forest and drinking their blood, he is doing this because it is another way to achieve immortality. The trio comes to believe that Snape is still in the tropes of the evil wizard. After learning that Hagrid revealed the secret way to fool the threeheaded to a suspicious stranger, whom they believe to be either Snape or Voldemort, they are certain that the Philosopher’s Stone is in danger. The three classmates use the cloak of invisibility on a mission to get the Stone themselves to keep it from Voldemort. After getting past the dog and defeating various protective spells, Harry reaches the room in which the Stone is hidden and is surprised to find the nervous Professor Quirrell there. Quirrell fails to figure out how to retrieve the Stone from the Mirror of Erised and forces Harry to try. When standing in front of the mirror, wishing only to protect the Stone and not use it for himself, Harry feels the Stone’s rumble in his pocket but refuses to tell Quirrell that he has it. Quirrell unwraps his turban, revealing Voldemort’s face on the back of his head. Voldemort explains that he has been sharing Quirrell’s body until he can get to the Stone and become fully alive again, and Voldemort and Harry fight for possession of the Stone, until Harry blacks out. He awakens in the infirmary and learns that Dumbledore saved him, the Stone is sent to be destroyed, but unfortunately Voldemort escaped.

CONTEXT OF OF THE THE STORY STORY CONTEXT

There are things wizards and Muggles share. They have a bank and a monetary system, just as it exists in the Muggle world. As for the currency, they have a trimetallic system: Gold Galleons, Silver Sickles, and Bronze Knuts. That is when the Gringotts goblins enter, who make the coins in a personalized way, each coin has a different code that corresponds to the number of the goblin that made it. The magician's money is mercantile money, coins are valuable because they are issued in metals with their value. The problem is that this system does not meet the three basic properties that money must have to function efficiently: easy to transport, divide and accumulate. As the coins are made with precious metals they weigh a lot, so they are not easy to transport and they are not easy to accumulate, in the chamber of the Potter or Lestrange, there are thousands and thousands of coins stacked and they are so valuable. that need to be guarded by a dragon.

6

Wizards and witches spend their money on food, clothing, and educational materials. In both the muggle and wizard world, money exists, there is also a bank that issues it, Gringotts, located in Diagon Alley, and almost the first contact that Harry Potter has with the wizarding world, it is the only wizarding bank in Gran Brittany. Gringotts' banking monopoly is very strong and just as rigid. However, they do not make loans to people or those in need. The influence of the rich in decisionmaking is key in the management of politics and the magic economy, this influence and the corruption of officials means that the middle class does not benefit and, as they have nowhere to get money, they cannot either. progress by opening a business, which limits social mobility.

SOCIAL SOCIAL CONTEXT CONTEXT OF OF THE THE STORY STORY

In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone he is based on a universe that is a magical world, however, much of the story takes place within the Hogwarts School of Magic. Harry had lived in a world without magic since he was a baby. One day this boy receives a letter in which he says that he has been accepted to study in a magic school, however, there was a problem that they were his uncles since they never allowed magic. They never told Harry the truth of his inheritance, that he was also a wizard like his parents were. Harry, after receiving this news, understood that it is not only to feel different towards the necessary strength that he needed to gain confidence, but that he should not feel unequal to the rest of his peers, it is also to know himself different and to claim it with acceptance. This difference is the case with magic.

7

In that "other world" Harry is legendary, which when he was a baby he survived death in front of a dark sorcerer. As well, we may have to remember as a social context how Malfoy and his friends in almost the whole saga bullied the Golden Trio for different situations such as economical position, blood status and as well for Harry's parents.
