Author’s Biography: Full name: Charles John Huffam Dickens

Date and place of birth: february 7, 1812 Landport (United Kingdom) or Portsmouth (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland)

How was your education? What is your background? And your professional experience?

Charles did not receive any education until he was 9 years old. At age 12, the novelist was considered old enough to start working, and thus began his working life. Was a British writer. He created some of the best-known fictional characters in the world and is considered by many to be the greatest novelist of the Victorian. He began working as an intern at the Ellis & Blackmore law firm and after a time as a court reporter. In 1828 he began to collaborate as a reporter at the Doctor's Commons and later joined the True Sun as a parliamentary chronicler.

How was his career? He was self-taught, if you exclude the 2 and a half years that he spent in a private school, he got a job as a lawyer's intern in 1827, but he already aspired to be a playwright and journalist.

His most famous works: Among his most famous works are Great Expectations.

To be read at dusk summary

To be read at dusk is a story where a first-person narrator starts to eavesdrop on a nearby group of couriers. The sun is setting, while the couriers talk about strange thoughts and memories. The group is made of five couriers from different nationalities, a German, a Swiss, a Genoese, and a Neapolitan. The German courier it's the first who talks about the beautiful, yet spooky, scene of the setting sun and the blood-crimson horizon to start a conversation on weird happenings and apparitions. They talk about histories of déjà vu, omens, and visions that mysteriously come true.

STORY CONTEXT: The story happens on a bench, outside a convent, there was a mountain that had red wine snow because of the setting sun, after a while the snow of the mountain became white, the sky had a very dark blue color, the wind was piercing cold. Five couriers were sitting on the bench, on another bench that was nearby the narrator of the story was sitting, there were German, Swiss, Genoese, and Neapolitan couriers.
