In DecoStile, we wanted to acknowledge this by filling our pages with a bright spectrum of colour welcoming the explosion of colour that has flooded the world of fabrics this season. We have the pleasure of telling you about Pascua Ortega’s great vision in interior design, considered by his peers as the best designer of Spain. Karim Rashid returns to DecoStile to present a new collection collaborating with Bo Concept. François Champsaur shows us how the combination of retro and contemporary can create a great visual impact and emanate elegance and style. JACOPO FOGGINI
Born in Turin and settled in Milan, Jacopo Foggini arrived to the world of design in a quite atypical way. Working in the family business, dedicated to the production of methacrylate pieces for the automotive industry, Jacopo discovers the brightness and colour of this material, as well as the ease and the multiple forms that can take. His ingenuity led him to create his own machinery to make monumental, glass-like, but surprisingly light designs. The great creativity of Jacopo and the spectacular nature of his work have made this artist of colour a notorious figure in design, working with great brands within the furniture sector such as EDRA 12

Impressive ceiling lights exudes light and colour. The “Chandeliers” collection is present in the Milan exhibition. Foggini is personally responsible for the relocation and evolution of its various works to ensure that the exhibition is always innovative offering an ever changing space that generates different feelings each time you visit. The works of Foggini have been exhibited in major museums and galleries, such as Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, the Royal College of Art in London and the Galerie Karsten Greve in Cologne.
With the “Bailarina” series, Jacopo Foggini turns the methacrylate into movement. The range of colours of the lamps, are in solid and monochromatic blue tones together with multi-coloured explosions in a predominately warm orange tones.
Con la serie “Bailarina” Jacopo Foggini, convierte el metacrilato en movimiento. La gama cromática de estas lámparas de pie se presenta en tonos azules sólidos y monocromáticos así como en explosiones multicolor en las que predominan la calidez de los tonos naranja.
The bright serpent “OFIGEA” is a tribute to the movement and colour. Comprised of 151 disks of methacrylate, its 55 meters length displays sinuously under different shapes, showing its joyous chromatic diversity.
La serpiente luminosa “OFIGEA” es un canto al movimiento y el color. Compuesta por 151 discos de metacrilato, sus 55 metros de luminosa longitud se presentan sinuosamente bajo diferentes formas, mostrando su alegre diversidad cromática.

like a ship suspended in time, lights up, makes sounds and images, generating a sense of movement that blows the mind, transporting you to intriguing dreamscapes. A powerful feeling, a mixture of wonder and awe, seizes the visitor to Aurora Boreale. During the celebration of its 10 years in the Milan Fair, Foggini presents this impressive work composed of 800 loops handmade acrylic creating space where lights, sound and moving images elude the mind, transporting it to dream landscapes. Perhaps this work represents the expression of Jacopo Foggini thoughts: “Light and color are a fundamental part of life and my life. Everything is generated by the energy of light, and colors are an infinite spectrum of that light.”

Una poderosa sensación, mezcla de asombro y sobrecogimiento, se apodera del visitante ante Aurora Boreale. Con motivo de la celebración de sus 10 años de presencia en la Feria de Milán, Foggini presenta esta impresionante obra compuesta de 800 bucles de metacrilato realizados a mano que configuran un espacio en el que, como en una nave suspendida en el tiempo, luces, sonido e imágenes generan sensaciones en movimiento que evaden la mente, transportándola a paisajes oníricos, intrigantes y sugerentes.

CUORE Grandiose dimensions for this heart that seems to be alive. CUORE Grandiosas dimensiones para este corazón que parece rebosar de vida.
MATRIOSKA Foggini presented in the first part of Moscow Design Week (October 2011) its particular homage to the Russian culture with a spectacular window designed on the traditional “matrioska” dolls. The designer finds its appearance, which bears a great resemblance to the typical rosettes of the Gothic cathedrals, that gives a sense of spirituality.
MATRIOSKA Foggini presenta en la 1ª edición de la Semana del Diseño de Moscú (Octubre 2.011) su particular homenaje a la cultura rusa con una espectacular vidriera, cuyo diseño está basado en las tradicionales muñecas “matrioska”. El diseñador considera que su aspecto, que guarda una gran similitud con los rosetones típicos de las catedrales góticas, le otorga un cierto sentido de espiritualidad.

Acrylic Jungle.
The monumental effect surprises us again in “Acrylic Jungle”. This time, Jacopo Foggini delves into the beauty of the vegetable kingdom to create a bright garden, an exquisite richness of color. The light of the acrylic manages to create delicate flowering stems. Far from the static nature of their condition, this garden seems to be moving, orbiting in harmony rocked by an imaginary wind. The sea is another recurring source of inspiration in the creative world of Foggini with the fixture of sculptural series “Jellyfish,” a giant translucent line emanating a haunting sense of relaxation and balance. www.jacopofoggini.com
La monumentalidad nos vuelve a sorprender en “Acrylic Jungle”. En esta ocasión, Jacopo Foggini se adentra en la belleza y colorido del reino vegetal para crear un jardín brillante, de una exquisita riqueza cromática. orn in Marseilles, François Champsaur pursued his studies in the School of Fine Arts and the National School of Decorative Arts. He started as an interior designer in 1996, contributing to the sector a very personal and creative vision combining Mediterranean touches with a current, practical design, incorporating a look in which colour and geometry create size and magnify space. On his professional journey, Champsaur has developed projects in people’s homes, although his work in hotels and restaurants have raised his profile thanks to his skill in the interpretation of space and the use of architectural elements as part of the decorative composition. As a furniture designer, his predilection for simple lines and balance in the dimensions have led him to develop collections for important names such as “First Time“, “Treca Interiors“, “Pouenat Ferronnier” and “HC28”. It is also important to acknowledge his collaboration with the prestigious brands, “D. Porthault” and “Toulemonde Bochart “ who design household linen and rugs.

This hotel located in the centre of Paris is an explosion of creativity and harmony in every room. Champsaur uses an exquisite mix of retro-style 50s and avant-garde design. The geometry is present in the floors and walls, embodied in marble, wood, glass and textiles to create and magnify space. The furniture exudes comfort and elegance from the prism of simplicity with some pieces emanating practicality. The lighting, both direct and indirect, is bright white and can be found in every room like a halo. The ingenious space allocation is in itself an amazing decorative feat which is part of Champsaur’s magic. The colours blue, black and white predominate in the rooms and communal areas accompanied by touches of yellow. A seductive and homely feel that is surprising in its originality and with works of art by well known painters such as David Lynch, Barthélémy Toguo and Raymond Pettibon and sculptures by Sebastien Kito. Este céntrico hotel parisino supone una explosión de creatividad y harmonía en cada estancia. Champsaur utiliza una exquisita mezcla de estilo retro años 50 y diseño vanguardista. Hote The interior looks cosy and relaxing. The warmth of the wood is juxtaposed with reddish hues, which take precedence in both rooms and communal areas. The palette of beige qualifies this contrast and, together with impeccable furniture consisting of suggestive soft lines and deliberately dim lighting, Champsaur manages to capture an intimate ambience with a unique personality.
The Club Med Mauritius project carried out by Champsaur is an earthly paradise situated in a prestigious area. The elements that make up this resort evoke the traditional style of the island which is cheerful and colourful, presenting architecture with large openings and monumentally high ceilings. The stone and the wood used outside perfectly integrate the hotel into the landscape. El proyecto realizado por Champsaur para Club Med Mauritius es un paraíso terrenal situado en un entorno privilegiado. El conjunto que conforma este resort, que evoca el tradicional estilo isleño alegre y colorista, presenta una arquitectura con grandes vanos y techos monumentalmente elevados. La piedra y la madera empleadas en el exterior hacen del hotel un elemento perfectamente integrado en el paisaje. 58

Again Club Med counts on Champsaur for the remodelling of this hotel in Florida. Placed between the ocean and the River Saint Lucia, the exuberant nature of the area and the proximity of Miami, turns out to be determinant in the choice of the storyline project’s: “Dolce Vita” of the 60s. The restaurant displays a true reflection of the typical North American beaches with surfboards as decorative pieces and walls with white and blue stripes. De nuevo Club Med cuenta con Champsaur para la remodelación de este hotel en Florida. Situado entre el océano y el río Santa Lucía, la exuberante naturaleza del entorno y la cercanía de Miami resultan determinantes en la elección del hilo argumental para esté proyecto: la “dolce vita” de los años 60. PATTERNED OR PLAIN The walls look for retro cut and jungle-inspired floral themes, stripes - both horizontal and vertical - remain favourite along with other geometric motifs. Fabrics bearing wild animals have become popular for a playful look as well as giving it a “vintage” look. But walls do not only go for beautiful prints. Smooth designs with a pearly sheen provide them with class and elegance which blends with everything and the natural fabrics such as linen give a very light and natural look. However, there seem to be a preference for textured and soft fabrics such as velvet seeking the threedimensionality. Among their favourite designers hereage internationally recognized names such as Osborne & Little, Casamance, JVC and Elitis who are all specialists in dressing walls. For this centrally located hotel in Zaragoza, Pascua Ortega choses for a modern and minimalist style that relies on the use of a wooden roof to provide a warm and natural touch. Strokes of red colour stand out in some of the furniture, marking a stark contrast from the white canvas floor, walls and columns. Indirect lighting combines a balance of brightness and elegance, providing size and highlighting the decorative nuances. In each of the 120 rooms of the hotel, Pascua Ortega creates a different feel with a selection of furniture designed for comfort and relaxation. Para este céntrico Hotel zaragozano, Pascua Ortega opta por un estilo moderno y minimalista que se apoya en el empleo de la madera en los techos para aportar un toque cálido y natural. Сложность заключалась в трубчатой структуре здания и в небольшой высоте потолков общего пространства. В области стойки ресепшн Ортега создаёт ощущение простора при помощи палитры теплых оттенков беж и белого цвета; в сочетании с удачно подобранным освещением, это позволило визуально сделать интерьер более просторным и светлым. Отделка потолка, построенная на контрасте различных объёмов - это очень мудрая игра, позволившая значительно увеличить его зрительную высоту. Оформление деревом придает теплоту элементам мебели с изогнутыми линиями и выполненной в стиле минимализма. Утонченная комбинация элементов интерьера и мебели обновлённого классического стиля, в золотистых и жёлтых тонах, завершает образ , основанный на репродукции роскоши греческих и римских дворцов.
