WEEKLY BULLETIN Dear Parents and Carers,

Book Fair Reminder!

It was great to see such a fantastic turnout at our Christmas Fair on Sunday! It was busy throughout the whole afternoon and the atmosphere around school was very festive! Thank you to everyone who came along to support, to the choir for their lovely carol singing and, of course, to Friends of Lower Heath and their helpers who made it all possible. A lot of work went into the preparation for the day, as well as into the setting up, running, and clearing up on the day. Thanks also to Holly Farm for the loan of the Christmas trees, which were used to decorate the grotto. A grand total of £1125 was raised by the Christmas Fair and the Festival of Lights stall the previous weekend. These profits will go towards the forest school fundraising project as well as funding the Christmas trips to Holly Farm and the panto. We also had an enjoyable morning on Monday, when children’s author Sarah Griffiths visited school. She worked with all of the children for 45 minutes in an assembly, where she talked to pupils about her book, “Jack and the Genie”, read them the story and discussed the process of writing books. All of Sarah’s stories raise awareness of the importance of good mental health and teach children about the importance of self-esteem and self-belief. This fits in brilliantly with our Rest Easy ethos, which is all about children recognising their emotions, learning how to deal with them positively and learning how to help themselves to feel happy and positive. Lots of children purchased a copy of Sarah’s latest book, and we hope that they all enjoy it!

Mrs Deborah Sadler, Headteacher

Thank You for Your Patience… If you have visited the school during the day throughout this week, thank you for your patience, as the work to our new exit gate has caused a little disruption for daytime visitors. The new gate does not change our car park system in any way. It has been installed to provide a safer system for opening and locking the premises, especially during darker months, with an off-road space to park whilst doing so. In order to improve site security, other gates and fencing will be upgraded in due course.

The Book People book fair is still in school, and will be until Tuesday 3rd December! The book fair will be open on Monday and Tuesday mornings from 8:45 until 9:15am, and on Monday afternoon from 3:15 until 3:45pm each afternoon, for parents to choose some books with or for their children, with TUESDAY MORNING being the last opportunity to make purchases. Come along and visit the book fair if you can!

Christmas Events 2019 Letters will be sent home with more details very soon, but we thought it would be helpful to provide advance notice of the Christmas events taking place at the end of term. Firstly, each year our Year 5 and 6 children organise a Christmas tea party for any grandparents and local senior citizens. Our choir perform Christmas songs for our guests. This year, the party will take place on Monday 16th December and start at 1:45pm – please do invite any relatives who might like to attend. On the evening of Monday 16th December, from 6-8pm at Fauls Church Hall, Years 1-6 will be performing two short Christmas musicals. On the afternoon of Wednesday 18th December, at 2pm at Fauls Church, we will be holding our Christmas service where our reception and nursery children will perform the Nativity. The rest of the school will sing songs to accompany the performance. On this afternoon, there will be no clubs after school, including Activity Zone, and children will need to be collected from church at 3:15pm. The performances at both the church and church hall will be ticket-only events (free of charge) due to the limit on the number of people we can fit in each venue. Letters will be sent home to order these tickets in early December.

Worship Our theme for this half term continues to be the Christian value of hope. We will be looking at this value in the context of advent and Christmas. Next week, we will be exploring advent. If your child(ren) would like to prepare a prayer or something to share during worship linked to this theme, they would be very welcome.
