As we move into the heart of summer, our Maplewood communities are alive with activity, connection, and celebration. This season brings more than just warmer days—it brings opportunities to honor milestones, recognize excellence, and deepen the bonds that make our communities so special. In this edition, we highlight our engaging spring and early summer events, including heartfelt Mother’s Day tributes, centennial celebrations, festive holiday gatherings, and the meaningful impact of volunteers during National Volunteer Month. We also share exciting news of two of our talented chefs being nominated for national recognition and reflect on the continued commitment to excellence in memory care. From gardening in the sunshine to savoring chef-crafted meals, this season reminds us of the joy found in shared experiences and the strength of our community spirit.
This week, we celebrated what makes Maplewood so special— our exceptional associates who create communities where residents are inspired, wellcared for, and truly belong.
Our remarkable associates don't just deliver care—they create connections. They transform daily routines into meaningful moments, ensuring every resident feels valued and at home. Their commitment to excellence reflects our core values of integrity, trustworthiness, and personal responsibility.
To our amazing team: you are the heart of The Maplewood Experience.
To celebrate both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, our Maplewood communities came together to honor the extraordinary parents, grandparents, and caregivers who enrich our lives in countless ways. From teas and flower bars to musical performances and family gatherings, each community marked the occasions with warmth and gratitude. A special video tribute featured photos and messages reflecting the love and legacy of those at the heart of our communities.
This September, we look forward to continuing the tradition with a celebration for Grandparents Day—another opportunity to honor the generations who guide and inspire us.
Throughout the past few months, our communities embraced the spirit of celebration with festive gatherings that brought residents, families, and associates together.
From vibrant Cinco de Mayo festivities featuring lively music and colorful décor, to heartfelt Easter celebrations filled with seasonal treats and joyful traditions, and spirited St. Patrick's Day events complete with green attire and Irishinspired fare—each occasion reflected the warmth and camaraderie that define life at Maplewood.
As summer arrives, the celebrations continue! Get ready for patriotic 4th of July festivities, scenic outings to local attractions, weekly summer BBQs with delicious grilled favorites, and relaxing outdoor concerts under the stars.
As summer unfolds, our communities are embracing the beauty of the outdoors through a variety of seasonal activities that promote wellness, connection, and joy. Residents are tending to garden beds in full bloom, enjoying the therapeutic benefits of planting and nurturing flowers and herbs. Daily walks and time spent outside offer moments of fresh air, sunshine, and conversation— whether in a peaceful courtyard, along a garden path, or during a scheduled fitness session. These experiences not only support physical health but also enhance emotional well-being, making summer a meaningful time to engage with nature and one another.
Longevity is about more than just years—it’s about living each day with purpose, joy, and connection. At Maplewood, our approach to care emphasizes personalized support, meaningful engagement, and holistic wellness to help residents thrive.
Recently, Maplewood at Newtown celebrated a remarkable milestone: Dorothy’s 100th birthday. Surrounded by family, friends, and fellow residents, her day was filled with music, laughter, and heartfelt tributes. Her vibrant spirit continues to inspire all who know her.
Dorothy is one of several centenarians in our community—a reflection of the strength found in connection and compassionate care. At Maplewood, we celebrate not just birthdays, but the rich lives and stories behind them.
Here’s to Dorothy—and to all the remarkable individuals who make Maplewood home.
This Spring we proudly celebrated the impact of volunteerism through a variety of meaningful events and partnerships.
Residents gave back by donating handmade knitted items to local hospitals. Student volunteers shared their talents through musical performances and intergenerational activities. A local Girl Scout Troop also brought joy by leading springthemed crafts and spending time with residents at one community.
These contributions reflect the spirit of connection that enriches life across our communities. Whether it’s residents giving back or outside volunteers lending their time and talents, these moments of service bring joy, foster intergenerational bonds, and add meaning to each day. The impact is lasting—and always appreciated. If you're inspired to make a difference, we welcome you to get involved.
