invited to come and see, but I would guess most never woke up one Saturday morning and said, “Hey, let’s go visit the synagogue today!”

n October of 2015 I had an interesting encounter with a young, 23 year old man from our community; he had not ever been to a church and he had no understanding of who Jesus was or is. After a brief time of sharing back and forth, regarding Jesus and His Bride, the church, he made a startling statement to me. He said, “I would like to come to church, but don’t you have to be invited?”

Jesus said in the gospel of John 4:35 “Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest?’ I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.”

“No he didn’t just say that!” I thought to myself.

At that point I immediately responded by extending him an invitation to attend one of our Sunday services – which he promptly took me up on by coming out the next week.

His statement however of “Don’t you have to be invited?” really rattled me.

Could it really be that easy? I was astounded that he felt as if he could not come into the church without being invited. Yet, the more I thought about it, the more I understood. If you have never been through the door of a church building, or have had no connection with anybody within the church family and have no understanding of the Lord, then how would you ever know that you would be welcome? Have any of us just stopped into a synagogue or a mosque to discover what the people inside are doing? You may have if you were

I believe that there is a ripe harvest in Barrie and that 2016 is about empowering our assembly (each and every one of us) to reach out and simply begin to invite those that we come in contact with to come to a Sunday service. To extend a “Great Invitation” to our city, to our neighbors, to our employees and employers, to attend the banquet that the Lord Jesus is preparing for all of them.

Let’s just simply attempt to do the very words of Jesus in 2016 and go out to the roads and country lanes of Barrie and surrounding regions and invite people to come in, so that our Father’s house will be full.

Hoping that you will accept “The Great Invitation” and be part of an incredible year of fruitfulness and harvest right in our own community,

A STUDY IN PROPHECY & ENDTIMES Sundays, 6:00pm The Ark Waiting Area Starts January 24 This semester, along with addressing weekly questions about current events around the world, as they relates to End Times, we will also be looking at how SCIENCE verifies and confirms Biblical truths!
