A WORD FROM JAY Mapleview Community Church - It’s time for the big movers to make some big moves! “But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.” Numbers 14:24 When Moses sent out the twelve spies to bring back an up to date report regarding the Promised Land that God had given Israel to possess, it came as no surprise to him to hear the unbelievable report of a land flowing with milk and honey! The spies returned speaking of the amazing fruit they had found in the valley of Eshcol; grapes so large that it took two spies carrying them on a pole between them. Others brought delicious pomegranates and figs with them. What an exciting change from the slavery of Egypt they had experienced. God’s provision of a land flowing with milk and honey was beyond the imagination of the Israelites. The only thing left was for Israel to trust God in taking possession of the promise. Both Caleb and Joshua were ready for the fulfilment of God’s promise. But wait…. ten of the remaining spies sent out said, ”… but the people who live there are strong, and the cities have walls and are very large… there are giants in the land. “We can’t attack those people! They’re too strong for us!” Numbers 13:31

Soon the bad report spread to the millions of other Israelites and that single bad report caused significant delay in God’s promises coming to pass. Bold moves require bold movers. Joshua and Caleb could see what the others could not. How is it that 80% of those reporting to Moses saw the impossibilities and only 20% saw the possibilities? The answer lies in a portion of the first scripture referenced, “my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly…” How much difference is there between a positive attitude and a positive spirit that trusts God and a negative attitude and negative spirit that sees only obstacles? For the Israelites, about 40 years of wandering in the desert eating manna every day. With over 30 years of being in ministry and more than 25 years as a pastor, I have discovered that many good, hard-working, Jesus loving people walk around with secret fears and doubts regarding God’s ability to meet their needs. These are men and women of Christian belief and biblical morals, but who really do not have a passionate deep undergirding belief that God will do the impossible for them.

That’s what each one of us, that call Mapleview Community Church their home, need. We all need a “Caleb spirit” that is different from the 80% out there giving in to fear and doubt like the ten other spies. We need to become possibility thinkers if we are to experience the harvest and enjoy the provision and promises that God has stored up for each of us. I’m not trying to be falsely optimistic or dramatically spiritual but only to draw your attention to the fact that God said Caleb had a different spirit than the others. If I have a choice, I want what Caleb had. And like Caleb, I want to walk in the abundance of God’s promises in this life, leaving a wonderful eternal inheritance for those who follow! Let’s all be big movers and make some big moves to ensure we are living in the highest and best purposes of God this last season of 2017. 2017 Great Awakening!

Pastor Jay Davis

Big moves take big movers with overcoming conquering spirits!

WARD PASTORS

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” - Helen Keller

INTRODUCING MAPLEVIEW “WARD PASTOR” MINISTRIES! Earlier this year we began LAUNCHING a brand new initiative within the ministries of Mapleview Community Church. It is our desire to minister to ALL the needs, of ALL the people….but we must work as a TEAM, with a “Family” mentality, many hands contributing to the “work of the Kingdom.” We believe that this growing ministry

will be a foundational key in building relationships as we continue to grow. The idea is that we would have “Volunteer Pastors” in every one of the Barrie & area Wards/Sections. These individuals would “Pastor” that geographical area. We already have approximately 15 Ward Pastors in place, ready to go!    We recognize that as Barrie’s population grows, so too, will Mapleview grow. But we also believe

that Mapleview will grow as a result of the Spirit of God doing a work in the hearts and lives of people that are already living around us now - your neighbours, living on your street. In the weeks and months ahead, you will be hearing more about the “Ward Pastor” initiative. Please show your support and even offer to help.   For more information, please call or email Pastor Craig at chead@mapleview. church
