By surrounding students with the target language in everyday activities and lessons, they develop fluency more quickly and with a deeper understanding.
Research shows that immersion leads to faster and higher proficiency, as it promotes active language use in real-life contexts. This approach not only enhances language skills but also boosts cognitive development, critical thinking, and cultural awareness, equipping Maple Bear students with valuable tools for success in a globalized world.

The middle school years at Maple Bear are an exciting journey of academic, personal, and bilingual growth. Our Canadian-based curriculum, delivered in a nurturing and dynamic environment, helps students develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive in a globalized world. We focus on building students’ independence, promoting leadership skills, and fostering a strong sense of responsibility. The program encourages students to explore their interests, think critically, and become lifelong learners.
Maple Bear programming is designed to engage, challenge and involve students in their learning.
Relevance of the learning to the students allow students to make connections and find their learning meaningful. The Canadian curriculum is based on making connections, constructing knowledge by building on prior knowledge, and involving students in meaningful tasks that relate to real life.
At Maple Bear, literacy is a key priority of our child-centered program, with a focus on immersing children in a language-rich environment from Kindergarten through middle school. In the early years, children are surrounded by language through speaking activities, interactive storytelling, and rich children’s literature, helping them build vocabulary and comprehension. Our program not only teaches children how to read but also fosters a lifelong love of reading.
As students progress to elementary school, the literacy curriculum includes a structured home reading program, small group instruction, and deeper engagement with texts. Writing and speaking skills are developed alongside reading, with a focus on critical thinking and expression. By middle school, students refine their reading, writing, and analytical abilities, preparing them to communicate effectively and confidently across various subjects. Maple Bear’s approach to literacy nurtures strong, independent learners with a deep appreciation for language and literature.
At Maple Bear, the teaching of mathematics begins at the Kindergarten level and progresses through a structured, hands-on approach. In the early years, children are introduced to foundational math concepts through play-based activities, games, and problem-solving exercises that foster a natural curiosity for numbers and patterns. As students advance, they engage in more complex mathematical thinking, developing skills in areas such as numeracy, geometry, measurement, and basic operations.
Maple Bear's curriculum emphasizes a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, not just memorization. Through interactive lessons, real-life applications, and inquiry-based learning, students build confidence in problem-solving and critical thinking. As they move through elementary and middle school, the curriculum becomes more rigorous, ensuring students are well-prepared for advanced mathematical concepts and real-world applications. This progressive approach helps develop a solid mathematical foundation while promoting logical reasoning and creativity.
At Maple Bear, the science program is designed to ignite and nurture children's natural curiosity, helping them observe and understand the world in a more detailed and comprehensive way. Beginning as early as the Toddler level, the curriculum encourages students to explore and investigate nature, conduct experiments, and observe phenomena, fostering scientific thinking through hands-on learning.
As students progress, they engage in activities that develop their empirical knowledge—learning by doing—through experiments that demonstrate physical and chemical changes, as well as the behavior of living organisms. This hands-on approach gradually evolves into more theory-based learning, ensuring that children maintain their curiosity while building a solid foundation in scientific concepts. Maple Bear’s inspiring learning environments, from labs to classrooms, promote collaboration and discovery, with teachers actively guiding students through every step of their scientific journey.
At Maple Bear, we foster strong *Global Connections* across our network of schools, creating opportunities for students, teachers, and staff to engage and learn together across borders. These connections allow our students to collaborate globally, expanding their understanding not only of the Maple Bear curriculum but also through rich exchanges of local history, culture, and perspectives.
Our program encourages the exploration of critical global topics, including sustainability issues, while promoting cross-cultural discussions and learning experiences. By connecting students worldwide, we are nurturing a global mindset that prepares them to thrive in an interconnected world, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to address the challenges of tomorrow.
