THE MESSENGER
Term 1 Week 1 Thursday 30 JANUARY 2025
Make new friends, but keep the old, One is silver and the other Gold

Dear School Community,
A warm welcome to you for the 2025 school year. I hope your families are enjoying summer and that you are refreshed and ready for the year ahead.
2025 marks the 40th Anniversary of the school’s establishment in Maindample before moving to its current location in 1996. This milestone will allow us to celebrate the work and vision of all those who have contributed to the school and consider our role in ensuring that it continues to be a nurturing and inspiring environment now and into the future. As such, Connection will be the theme for our 40th year. Connection with ourselves (thoughts, feelings, and intentions), others (family, friends, community), and place (the natural world) are central elements of Steiner Education. I ask that throughout the year you consider how we foster these connections at school and in our lives outside of school. I hope you have had a chance to enjoy some time in a river, the bush, or the beach recently. We are lucky to have such easy access to beautiful places and it is a joy to see the children develop a love for these environments.
We enjoyed welcoming new and returning students, families, and staff at our first assembly on Wednesday.
Class 1 was welcomed to ‘the Big School’ by their Class 5 buddies and parents enjoyed a morning tea put on by P&F. Huge thanks to parents who baked a treat for morning tea and helped.
Our first working bee (and desk day) for the year is on Saturday 1st February between 8.30 am and 1.00 pm. Involvement of parents from all year levels is strongly encouraged and helps build community and ownership of our school. If you can bring a plate to share for morning tea at 10.30 am at the Melliodora Hall (with ingredients written down) that would be wonderful.
Finally, it is with great pleasure that we welcome our new staff members. Isabel Kalin - Early Childhood Assistant, Natasha Kavanagh - Early Childhood Teacher, Tania Neil –Primary Music & Class 6 (Friday), Robyn Carrington – Music, Amy Jewson – Secondary Numeracy Support & Mathematics, Bella Moore – Outdoor Education, Charlotte Dayman – Secondary Art. Our thanks also go to Carol & Julie for teaching Class 4 before Micheal Brittain returns in Semester 2. We wish all our new staff a long and happy relationship with the school and welcome them wholeheartedly to our community.
Please remember that many school communications will happen through Sentral. It is important to ensure that the notifications are on or that you check the App regularly. The Sentral Calendar should also be consulted
regularly to ensure that you are aware of upcoming events.
