DEPARTMENT OF BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

The Department of Biomedical Engineering was established in 2009-10. Department is well equipped with advanced instruments, laboratories, classes and dedicated faculties who pioneered a studio approach to education emphasizing. Hands-on experiment based learning. Biomedical engineers combine engineering approaches and principles with a rigorous knowledge of the biological and health sciences, working toward the embracive goal of improving human health. It is a highly challenging and rewarding profession. Students of Biomedical Engineering need to be skilled engineers, yet fluent in the sciences and having a savvy about modern health care practices. The Department offers high quality learning modules in different areas such as medical devices, design and service, integrated circuits and medical data analysis.

Department aims to create an ambience for the smooth pursuit of scholarly activities in research and education, to make an international impact, and to produce future leaders in the field of Biomedical Engineering. Doing Govt.of India Projects worth of 58 lakhs by from DBT, DST, SERB, TNSCST, by faculties and Students. In concern with Placement our department students got more than 90% of core company appointments. Through valued research two patents were sanctioned.

The Department offers high quality learning modules in different areas such as medical device design and service, integrated circuits, medical data analysis.

Cardiac Cath Lab: Evaluate or confirm the presence of heart disease and evaluate heart muscle function.

Hands-on-training on Critical Care equipments was organized in the department in association with Atheenapandian Pvt. Ltd., Courtallam and Chennai on November 9, 2021. Handson training on equipments like short-wave diathermy, vital parameter monitoring system, defibrillator and oxygen concentrator were given to students. About 95 students and staff members actively participated and got benefited.

National conference on “Essential Medical Devices in the Modern World” was conducted by the department as a part of BIOMED’21 organised by ABIMENIU (Association of Biomedical Engineers @ Noorul Islam University) on 10th November 2021.
