Merging the worlds of fashion, art, real estate and philanthropy, Mann About Town delivers cutting-edge lifestyle content to New York and beyond.
I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of spring. My schedule for this past month has involved so many events that I could not have possibly attended all of them. It was very difficult to choose the ones that would be featured in this issue but we try to showcase the most exclusive, exciting and different events out there. Planet Hollywood, the Quadrille Ball, Chocolatier Maribel Lieberman, Sunset pilates and Maison Barnes were all noteworthy highlights. You’ll also be seeing the events in the Hamptons as I go there and Mann Publications will be on top of presenting them to our readers.
Our content keeps getting better and we seem to always outdo ourselves. All of our sections have gained a lot of traction, including the art, and specifically Avalon Bellos, with more and more people sending us material in regard to the art world. Michele Gerber Klein’s book “Surreal, The Extraordinary Life of Gala Dali,” has been terrific. She’s been on TV and getting amazing reviews and publicity for it. Our Beauty and Skincare feature with Peter Thomas Roth shows the revolution of skin care as he is a leading force in the industry and we’re honored to have him in our magazine. The Health and Wellness feature from Margaret Luce is certainly one that sheds light on the struggle of standardized testing for both kids and their parents. Pressure increases for kids getting into these colleges; it is a very stressful situation and the students have a tough time dealing with it. The best advice I can give, and from reading the article myself, is that taking the pressure off of testing leads to better results. Now, with our fashion and restaurant features, they are as popular as ever. We have, and will continue to look for great fashion and restaurants to go to, as we try to pick what is unique and different from the standard.
I think you’ll enjoy what we continually strive to do for our reader to make Mann About Town a must-read and collectible item. We welcome articles that people send us and what you the readers want to read about. We’re happy to discuss and are easily accessible to reach.
Excellence is the unlimited ability to improve the quality of what you have to offer

Hello everyone!
I want to say we have something special for you all, and I feel that way with every issue we put out. The content is unique, relatable, refreshing and for all ages. In this issue, you will see how true this is. Starting with our photo events, the well-known Planet Hollywood is back and the celebrities showed out in celebration for it, with Alec and Hilaria Baldwin hosting with a special and intimate Boy George DJ performance. There was also the 64th Annual Quadrille Ball, a white-tie gala that celebrates German American friendship and Transatlantic cultural and academic exchange. You’ll see wonderful places of travel, from The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London to Palma, Mallorca. As for the arts, you’ll be amazed at historic viewings and presentations of it all. For the first time in history, the Anne Frank House is taken outside of Amsterdam and is currently in New York with several never-before-exhibited artifacts.
“The World of Tim Burton” as of Feb. 24, 2025 has the highest attendance of any show since the Design Museum was established over 35 years ago. It’s closing here on May 26, so don’t miss it! What goes well with a show? Food of course and we always highlight great places to eat. The ambiance and food at Ficuzza and Blu on the Hudson are just right. I don’t even want to elaborate, I want you to go, see and try for yourself these top-tier places. You’ll also read about pop-star Audrixx on the rise, spectacular fashion collections and if you’re in need of a new bathroom layout, let’s just say I know a company. Also, surfing, yoga, beer and different views all in one? Yes, altogether, all one activity—it’s a thing, it’s real. Now, lastly, but certainly not least—well
the SurfBeerYoga actually is the last feature funny enough—we have our cover star Leesa Rowland, a celebrated actress, philanthropist and author who is now in her filmmaking era. We love that for her and for you to read on as she’s a woman of many talents with a story to tell.

The Quadrille Ball, one of New York City’s most elegant and enduring philanthropic traditions, returned to the historic Plaza Hotel for its 64th annual event.
The ball is a white-tie gala that celebrates GermanAmerican friendship and trans-Atlantic cultural and academic exchange.
This timeless event featured young men and women who performed the traditional Quadrille, a historic ballroom dance symbolizing unity and harmony. Each year, this cherished tradition is accompanied by live orchestral music, fine dining, dancing and an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause.
Proceeds from the Quadrille Ball benefit the GermanAmerican Scholarship Association’s scholarship fund. The fund provides grants to exceptional students pursuing studies or research in the United States or Germany, fostering academic excellence and mutual understanding between the two nations. The ball’s philanthropic focus on education ensures a lasting impact, empowering young minds to achieve their goals while building global connections.
This year’s ball welcomed its guest of honor, Lya Friedrich Pfeifer, president of the Max Kade Foundation, in addition to friends like Till Knorn, the German consul general in New York, and other guests.
The evening commenced with a cocktail reception in the Terrace Room of the Plaza Hotel. This was followed by dinner and dancing in the Grand Ballroom. Music during dinner was provided by New York Orchestras Entertainment, with the highlight of the evening being the Quadrille presentation, directed by Gordon A. Cooper and Brian D. Hutchinson. Following this dazzling evening, guests continued the party at the “Küka Club,” with supper in the Terrace Room and music provided by the Central Park Orchestra.
The Quadrille stipend fund could not succeed without the continued and generous support of corporate sponsors, individual patrons and other private donors. Financial and nonmonetary donations help the German-American Scholarship Association award
its scholarships to 26 outstanding students from the United States and Germany.
Notable attendees included guest of honor Lya Friedrich Pfeifer and Joseph Pfeifer; Consul General of Germany in New York, Till Knorn; President of the German-American Scholarship Association, Barbara Elling; ball committee Co-chairs Irmintraud J. Formerly the summer residence of the royal family of Bavaria, Nymphenburg Palace is perhaps the finest example of classical Baroque architecture in Germany. To experience a flavor of the royal lifestyle enhanced by the luxurious touches of Kempinski hospitality, travelers can spend the night at the Nymphenburg Palace Royal Residence, a stately four-bedroom villa located within the palace grounds.
Inside the 836-square-metrer (8,998-square-foot) residence, four

Equipped with a full-sized kitchen and wine cellar, the Royal Residence has everything guests need for intimate family gatherings, while the private garden and majolica-tiled terrace is the perfect spot for summer soirées for up to 100 guests.
Other regal benefits for guests of the Nymphenburg Palace Royal Residence include the use of a chauffeur-driven limousine throughout each stay, roundtrip airport transfers, 24/7 butler service and a daily breakfast fit for kings and queens.
Art, fashion and history come together at Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden, a gift from Augustus the Strong to his mistress in 1705. Berlin-based interior designer Markus Hilzinger sought inspiration from the hotel’s history to infuse the 380-square-meter (4,090-square-foot) Royal Suite with regal splendor and contemporary comforts. The stately abode is adorned
with parquet de Versailles oak flooring and hand-knotted carpets, with artworks by Venetian artist Bernardo Bellotto reproduced in collaboration with the Dresden State Art Collection.
Checking into the 185-square-meter (1,991-square-foot) Royal Suite at Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin is reserved for the privileged few. Once the home of Ottoman sultans, Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul houses a collection of historic suites. The 458-square-meter (4,929-square-foot) Sultan Suite is the most opulent, with marble columns, decorative fireplaces and replicas of artworks by 19th-century Italian artist Fausto Zonaro. As well as a personal butler who welcomes guests with a time-honored fragrance and soap ritual, guests are treated to the use of a chauffeur-driven 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and the best Bosphorus views in Istanbul.
Poised on the clifftops of Nusa Dua, The Apurva Kempinski Bali is a tribute to the architecture and craftsmanship of the Majapahit empire. The blend of imperial residence, architectural traditions and tropical ambience finds its apogee in the Nusantara Presidential Villa, a 1,379-sqm (14,843-sqft) threebedroom hideaway on a private beach complete with an 18-meter swimming pool. Since they exploded in popularity nearly a decade ago, water-based gel creams have become a skincare favorite. No longer thought of as a summer-only product, these gel-cream hybrids have advanced in formulation and popularity, providing lightweight and effective hydration. However, as consumer interest in gel creams has increased, so has demand for even lighter moisturizers.
As such, a familiar texture is making a comeback: gel. Now referred to as “jelly,” these moisturizers are more innovative than their predecessors. What were once alcohol-based gelatinous mixtures largely packed with glycerin are now water-based with improved ingredients that hydrate better than ever.
To learn more about the jelly skincare trend, we turned to skincare guru Peter Thomas Roth, whose new Water Drench Hyaluronic Jelly Moisturizer launched this March. An influential segment leader in the beauty industry, Roth is known for creating clinically stronger formulas and leads all research and development efforts at his state-of-the-art lab and manufacturing facility.
Why do you think gel-cream moisturizers have become so popular?
Hydrated skin is younger-looking skin, but not everyone wants a traditional anti-aging cream. My customers love my original Water Drench Cloud Cream and Water Drench Rich Barrier Moisturizer, which are both gel creams. They’re packed with multiple sizes of hyaluronic acid, a potent hydrator that draws in water and feel light as a cloud!
What inspired you to create your new Water Drench Hyaluronic Jelly Moisturizer?
As someone with oily skin, I know how hard it can be to find the perfect moisturizer. People with oily skin have been using my original Water Drench Cloud Cream, a gel cream formulated for all skin types, but I wanted to take things a step further. My new Water Drench Hyaluronic Jelly Moisturizer is a jelly that feels completely weightless and was formulated with normal to oily skin types in mind. It feels like a cool splash of water when you apply but dries down to a shine-free matte finish… Brilliant!
What are the key ingredients in your Water Drench Hyaluronic Jelly Moisturizer?
Like my other Water Drench moisturizers, it has a 30% hyaluronic acid complex that contains multiple sizes of hyaluronic acid for advanced hydration. Hyaluronic acid is an amazing ingredient because it’s lightweight and well tolerated by all skin types, including oily! For a long-lasting moisturizing effect, my Water Drench Hyaluronic Jelly Moisturizer also has HydraFence ingredient technology, which helps provide 48 hours of enhanced hydration. Aloe vera and bergamot citrus water leave the skin feeling calm and balanced.
In a consumer perception study, users agreed that immediately after applying my product, their skin appeared less oil and their pores looked diminished! At the same time, my Water Drench Hyaluronic Jelly Moisturizer is also clinically proven to improve the skin barrier and 100% [of users] saw an immediate increase in skin hydration. Usually, you only see this level of moisture barrier repair and support with a cream or gel cream, but my advanced gel formula gets the job done! You’re going to love it.

“I just don’t think I can take this test again,” my daughter Claire sighed, pushing away her SAT prep book. It was our fourth attempt at improving her score, and the strain was visible in our home. What should have been a period of excitement about her future had turned into a source of daily tension—not just for her, but for our entire family.
The college admissions process has intensified dramatically over the past decade. As New York University Professor Jonathan Haidt points out in “The Anxious Generation,” today’s teens face unprecedented pressure that’s taking a toll on their mental wellbeing. For Claire, each disappointing test score seemed to diminish her confidence further, despite our investment in conventional tutoring and endless practice exams.
“You have to talk to Mike. He’s great,” my friend Rebecca said when I confided my concerns over lunch. She described how Wagner Prep had transformed her son’s experience with testing—a reluctant test-taker with ADHD who had previously shut down around standardized tests. Something in her description resonated with me. We needed a different approach. Mike’s first conversation with our family revealed why Wagner Prep stands apart in the crowded test prep and college admissions landscape. While many companies focus on credentials and perfect scores, Mike staffs his team exclusively with high-EQ tutors who can genuinely connect with teens. “Content knowledge is just the baseline,” he explained. “The real difference comes from understanding each student’s unique approach to learning and building their confidence from there.”
The transformation began almost immediately. Her tutor, Marley, worked with her twice weekly—not just on SAT content but on test anxiety and disrupting negative thought patterns. After sessions, Claire would share insights that went beyond math formulas: “I realized I’ve been catastrophizing about this test,” or “I’m learning to separate my self-worth from my test scores.”
Mike himself provided what felt like brief therapy sessions for me, helping reframe my perspective when I’d spiral into worry. He showed me data on gradual score improvements, emphasizing progress over perfection. “The college process isn’t just about getting in somewhere prestigious,” he reminded me. “It’s about finding where your child will thrive while preserving their well-being—and your relationship through the process.”
This philosophy permeated every aspect of their program. When Claire’s scores began improving—eventually resulting in a 210-point gain—Wagner Prep seamlessly shifted focus to college selection and applications. Their approach went beyond rankings and acceptance rates to consider campus culture, program resources and personal fit. They
encouraged Claire to trust her intuition about environments where she’d feel supported.
Perhaps most valuable was how Wagner Prep structured communication. They worked directly with Claire while keeping me informed through detailed session reports. This arrangement fostered my daughter’s independence while allowing me to stay connected—a delicate balance that, as Haidt noted, is crucial for healthy parent-teen relationships during this transitional period.
Mike’s background explains this distinctive approach. A former history teacher, he witnessed firsthand how traditional education often fails to support individual potential and emotional wellbeing. At 26, he took a bold step—quitting his high school history teaching job and traveling to Argentina, where he lived without knowing the language or “anyone on the continent.” This experience reinforced his belief in the growth that comes from managed challenges and informed Wagner Prep’s philosophy of “supported struggle.”
Since founding Wagner Prep in 2015, Mike has built a team of over 30 professionals united by this holistic vision. They understand that college preparation isn’t just about academic achievement—it’s about helping teens develop resilience, self-knowledge and healthy perspectives on success.
By spring of Claire’s senior year, we celebrated acceptances from the University of Southern California, the University of North Carolina and several other top schools. But the real victory was watching my daughter approach decisions with confidence and clarity. She had learned to separate her worth from her achievements and developed tools to manage academic pressure that will serve her well beyond high school.
In today’s high-stakes educational environment, Wagner Prep offers something invaluable: a path through college admissions that strengthens rather than damages teen mental health. For parents navigating this challenging terrain, its approach provides the perfect balance of expertise, empathy and emotional support.
As I watch Claire confidently prepare for college, I realize that beyond acceptances and test scores, the most valuable outcome was learning to support her journey while preserving her mental health and our relationship. In today’s high-pressure academic world, that might be the most important achievement of all.

n response to overwhelming demand, the Anne Frank House announced the extension of its world premiere presentation of “Anne Frank The Exhibition” in New York City through Oct. 31, 2025. Originally scheduled for just three months, tickets sold out within one week of opening on Jan. 27, 2025, proving the extraordinary demand for this once-in-alifetime experience.
“We are deeply moved by the overwhelming interest in this exhibition. As we carry forward Anne’s legacy, we are profoundly grateful for the opportunity to extend this new presentation in New York. The initial response affirms our belief that we must meet the present moment with education. History is our greatest teacher, and Anne’s words continue to resonate across generations,” said Ronald Leopold, executive director of the Anne Frank House. “In bringing this exhibition to New York and extending its stay, the Anne Frank House, with the support of the Center for Jewish History, is making it possible
for more people to reflect on the life and loss of Anne, and the 1.5 million Jewish children lost in the Holocaust. Together, we remain committed to stand against antisemitism and group hatred, and we thank New York for joining us in this important effort.”
Gavriel Rosenfeld, president of the Center for Jewish History, added, “It has been our honor to partner with the Anne Frank House as host to this landmark exhibition, and we are excited to continue welcoming audiences from around the world for its extended run.”
As a nonprofit organization helping to shape global understanding of the Holocaust and its contemporary relevance, including lessons on modern-day antisemitism, racism and discrimination, the Anne Frank House is entrusted with the preservation of the annex where Anne Frank and her family hid during World War II.
This new exhibition is presented in New York City in partnership with the Center
for Jewish History in Manhattan and is designed for audiences who may not have the opportunity to visit the Netherlands.
“Anne Frank The Exhibition” is the first time in history that the Anne Frank House has presented a pioneering experience outside of Amsterdam, immersing visitors in a full-scale, fully furnished recreation of the annex rooms where Anne Frank, her parents and sister, and four other Jews spent two years hiding to evade Nazi capture.
Moving through the exhibition, visitors can immerse themselves in the context that shaped Anne’s life—from her early years in Frankfurt through the rise of the Nazi regime and the family’s phased move to Amsterdam across 1933 and 1934. Anne lived in Amsterdam for 10 years until her 1944 arrest and deportation to Westerbork, a large transit camp in the Netherlands. She was then sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau, a concentration
camp and killing center in Nazi-occupied Poland, and eventually to her death at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany when she was 15 years old.
Four exhibition galleries immerse visitors in place and history through video, sound, photography and animation—and more than 100 original collection items from the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam.
“Anne Frank The Exhibition” provides an opportunity to learn about Anne Frank, not as a victim but through the multifaceted lens of her life—as a girl, a writer and a symbol of resilience and strength. This is a story inspired by one of the most translated books in the world.
The New York City exhibition occupies over 7,500 square feet of gallery space in the heart of Union Square. This marks the first time dozens of artifacts can be seen in the United States—many have never been seen in public.
Artifacts in the exhibition include:
• Anne Frank’s first photo album (1929-1942)
• Anne Frank’s typed and handwritten invitation to her friend for a film screening in her home (by 1942, anti-Jewish measures prohibited Jews from attending the cinema)
• Handwritten verses by Anne Frank in her friends’ poetry albums Advising the Anne Frank House on the New York City exhibition is Michael S. Glickman, CEO of jMuse.
With this new exhibition, the Anne Frank House is seeking to expand its reach and educational impact at a time of rising antisemitism in the United States. The exhibition is presented in New York City, where Jews continue to be the most targeted group and where hate crimes against others are on the rise.
In supporting students through field trips, the exhibition serves as a primary source for students and educators, and since its opening was first announced, has been booking hundreds of visits for school groups from New York to California and states in between. With a goal of reaching 250,000 students, philanthropic support has made it possible for the Anne Frank House to ensure tickets are free for NYC public schools and Title I public school groups throughout the United States.
To enhance resources for teachers, the exhibition includes an accompanying
curriculum developed with the Anne Frank Center at the University of South Carolina. The curriculum materials place antisemitism in its historic context. Questions lead students to consider the roots and evolution of antisemitism, including how it led to the Holocaust.
“Anne Frank’s story provides a compelling window into the past, one that helps students understand the dangers of bigotry and the importance of never being a bystander,” said Doyle Stevick, executive director of the Anne Frank Center at the University of South Carolina and educational advisor to the exhibition. “The curriculum developed to accompany this exhibition ensures teachers and students will have the highest-quality educational resources they need to learn about the Holocaust and its relevance today. We are thrilled to see that hundreds of school groups from around the country have already booked field trips.”
Educational visits to the exhibition, as well as individual and family ticket purchases, can be scheduled by visiting annefrankexhibit.org.

The Design Museum’s major retrospective on the exceptional career of Director Tim Burton has become the most visited exhibition in the museum’s history.
Over 171,000 people had experienced “The World of Tim Burton” as of Feb. 24, 2025. This is the highest attendance of any show since the Design Museum was established over 35 years ago.
Due to this record-breaking demand, the museum announced that the exhibition’s run will be extended by five weeks. Originally due to close on April 21, it will now close on May 26, giving even more time to delve into the director’s personal archives.
The exhibition arrived in London as its final destination after a hugely successful decade-long world tour that saw it visit 14 cities
in 11 countries since 2014. Its showing at the Design Museum— in an expanded and reimagined form—is the very final time the exhibition will be staged.
When “The World of Tim Burton” opened to the public in October 2024, it had already broken the museum’s record for the most presales of any Design Museum exhibition, selling over 32,000 advance tickets.
In the four months since opening, the exhibition has surpassed the museum’s previous most popular exhibition, “Stanley Kubrick: The Exhibition,” which welcomed over 156,000 visitors in 2019.
Also revealed was the final attendance for the museum’s muchloved Barbie exhibition, which closed on Feb. 23, 2025. This show
saw 144,480 visitors across its sevenmonth run, making it the third-most visited exhibition ever at the Design Museum. The museum announced that the exhibition will go on a national and international tour, with cities and venues due to be revealed later this year.
“The World of Tim Burton,” which was hailed as “the exhibition of the year” by the Independent, showcases Burton’s remarkable output, with over 18 of his films individually spotlighted in the show. It celebrates the creative processes behind some of the most significant movies of the past five decades, including 1988’s “Beetlejuice,” 1989’s “Batman,” 1990’s “Edward Scissorhands” and 2005’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
Highlights include hundreds of Burton’s expressionistic sketches and drawings that he has created prolifically since childhood. These are seen alongside props, set designs and costumes from his iconic films, including Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman costume from 1992’s “Batman Returns” and the black-andwhite striped dress from 1999’s “Sleepy Hollow,” worn by Christina Ricci.
“I’m blown away by the response to the exhibition and to hear about the record number of visitors,” said Burton. “I didn’t expect any of this, but the Design Museum did an amazing job, and I’m so pleased that there is an extended opportunity for people to see what they created.”
“It’s been a remarkable year at the Design Museum, with both the Barbie and Tim Burton exhibitions smashing our existing attendance records,” said Tim Marlow, director and CEO of the Design Museum.
“What has been most heartening, is how the design stories told in these exhibitions have resonated so strongly with visitors of all ages and backgrounds,” Marlow continued.
“While we’re sad to see our Barbie exhibition close, we’re pleased that it will be going on a global tour with venues to be announced soon. For Burton fans, we’re delighted that we can offer five more weeks to visit—or revisit—Tim Burton’s creative world.”
The next major exhibition to open at the Design Museum will be “Splash! A Century of Swimming and Style,” which will examine our enduring love of water over the past 100 years. It will feature star loans including Pamela Anderson’s sensational red bathing suit from “Baywatch.”
Nelson De La Nuez’s ‘Made in America’ Is a Sugar-Coated Guillotine
By Avalon Ashley Bellos
Let us begin with a truth we all recognize but rarely say aloud: America is an empire built on dreams wrapped in slick packaging. The pursuit of happiness has long been eclipsed by the pursuit of platinum cards, red soles and glossy advertisements masquerading as purpose. Into this gilded frenzy steps Nelson De La Nuez, the cultural alchemist and master of Pop Art provocation, ready to peel back the glitter and reveal the grit beneath.
Opening May 2 at the storied DTR Modern Galleries in SoHo, Made in America is not simply an art exhibition— it is a sensory plunge into the absurd, alluring theater of American identity. De La Nuez’s work plays like a vintage commercial running in reverse, each canvas a remix of iconography with layers of irony, luxury and razor-edged wit. His pieces are drenched in seduction yet grounded in satire, conjuring visions of a nation that sells fantasy while quietly losing its footing.
Nelson De La Nuez does not simply reference pop culture; he dismantles and reconstructs it with the precision of a master and the nerve of a renegade. His art is at once a love letter to American iconography and a scathing commentary on its contradictions. The American Dream, in his hands, becomes something decadent and double-edged—both delicious and dangerous.
This bold exhibition finds its perfect home in DTR Modern Galleries, a name synonymous with excellence in contemporary art. With locations in New York, Boston, Palm Beach and Washington D.C., the gallery has long served as a platform for blue-chip artists and culturally seismic voices. To host De La Nuez is both a continuation of their legacy and a celebration of an artist whose voice remains as relevant as it is irresistible.
There is a Fitzgeraldian elegance woven throughout this body of work. Much like Gatsby’s parties— pearled, perfumed and perilously perched on the edge of collapse—De La Nuez’s latest series glimmers with opulence while whispering warnings beneath its shine. Each piece radiates nostalgia, yet none are naïve. His pin-up girls may pose with Hollywood charm but their stares are unblinking, transactional, knowing. The logos, the jewels, the dollar signs—none are arbitrary. All serve as carefully curated symbols in a tale of aspiration and disillusionment.
The Details:
Nelson De La Nuez: “Made in America”
Opening reception: May 2, 2025 | 6–9 p.m.
In “Made in America,” De La Nuez poses a pressing question: What does it truly mean to be made in this country? Is it ambition? Excess? Reinvention? He does not provide an answer. Instead, he gifts the viewer with a visual riddle—wrapped in gold leaf, laced with humor and hanging unapologetically on the walls of one of the city’s most refined artistic salons.
For collectors and connoisseurs alike, this exhibition offers more than an opportunity to acquire an artwork. It offers the chance to possess a cultural artifact that speaks fluently in the language of irony, beauty and truth.

Pop goes the culture. And De La Nuez? He’s got his finger on the trigger.
The Theater Center and Wordly Introduce AI-Powered, RealTime Translation to NYC Theater, Integrating It Into the Long-Running Off-Broadway Play ‘Perfect Crime’
Non-English-speaking locals and tourists are now able to attend a play in New York and fully understand it in their native language, as artificial intelligence powers a real-time translation of the show in any one of 60 different languages
For the first time in New York City history, non-English speaking
New Yorkers and tourists will be able to walk into a theater and enjoy a play in their native language – thanks to a new partnership between The Theater Center, home to New York City’s longest running play, Perfect Crime, and the AI powered translation tech startup, Wordly. Over the past two years, the teams behind the Off-Broadway theater complex, the long running murder mystery,
and the innovative new translation platform have worked together in painstaking fashion to achieve a theatrical first: utilizing AI powered real time translation technology to present a play in 60 different languages - so that anyone from anywhere can understand every word of what happening in the show, as it unfolds. wordly.ai/theater-translation
Simultaneous translation has been widely used in business meetings, church services and universities, but not in live plays— until now. Audience members attending Perfect Crime simply scan a QR code, use their own earbuds or disposable ones provided by the theater, and select to hear the show in the language of their choice. This approach ensures that foreign language speaking theatergoers can fully understand and enjoy the show, breaking down language barriers and enhancing the cultural experience.
For those individuals with hearing impairments or hearing loss, this innovative new app will also provide real-time captioned text, a significant improvement over the pre-programmed audio devices currently available in theaters.
“We are proud of this groundbreaking initiative to bring live translation to the theater, making it more accessible to those who’ve previously been unable to attend due to language barriers,” said Founder and CEO of Wordly, Lakshman Rathnam. “What we’re doing here with The Theater Center is a real example of how AI can make an immediate positive difference by creating a more inclusive and engaging theatrical experience, benefiting the audience, performers and theater management.”
“It’s also a game changer for the industry. With Off-Broadway and regional theaters closing or facing financial hardship, this AI powered technology offers small theaters a new way to attract and expand audiences who might otherwise not attend the programming because they speak a language other than English.” said Catherine Russell, general Manager of The Theater Center.
Areeba Shabbir, a Fulbright Fellow and cultural ambassador of India in the United States recently tested the technology and watched the production with written and audible translations in both Hindi and Urdu. “The app does a great job of keeping the structure of the original dialogues intact,” said Shabbir. “It translates English sentence structures into the proper format for both Hindi and Urdu while making sure the flow and rhythm of the play stay the same. The translated dialogues are grammatically correct and generally fit the context. The app also ensures that the pace and flow of the actors’ performances are preserved. In terms of tone and intonation, this real time translation really conveyed the depth of the work. It maintains the original dialogue’s tone, whether dramatic, humorous, or poignant, by adapting intonation patterns to fit the rhythm and cadence of the target languages. Overall, this is really going to enhance accessibility, bridge linguistic divides and enable a broader audience to connect with and appreciate the full richness of theatrical art.”
In 2023, New York City welcomed 11.6 million international tourists, many of whom faced language barriers that prevented them from fully enjoying the city’s rich theatrical offerings. This technology also helps those who are hard of hearing, providing them with enhanced access to live performances. Over the past few months, The Theater Center has beta-tested this technology with remarkable success. Audiences who do not speak English, as well as those with hearing challenges, have been able to follow and enjoy the performances, proving the system’s effectiveness and its potential to attract a broader audience.
eesa Rowland—celebrated actress, philanthropist and author, is embarking on the next chapter of her career, one just as fascinating as her other career endeavors.
Best known for her work in film, television and champion of charitable causes, Rowland is set to captivate audiences in 2025 with her debut as a documentary filmmaker. This year marks a pivotal moment as she leverages her passion for storytelling to shine a light on issues close to her heart, while continuing to lead impactful initiatives and expand her portfolio.
A natural storyteller, Rowland’s debut documentary represents
role in shaping what I gravitated toward.”
Rowland grew up in Austin, Texas where she studied broadcast journalism and later became a classically trained actress at the world-renowned Stella Adler Studio in Los Angeles, finding both disciplines to be interconnected. Rowland believes them both to require empathy, awareness and being present in the moment. She never saw them as separate lanes, just different expressions of the same curiosity and drive to connect. “It wasn’t about choosing one over the other; it was about staying open to wherever that instinct to tell stories took me,” Rowland stated. Broadcasting gave her a way to engage with the world by asking questions and digging into real stories while acting,
a culmination of her artistic talent and dedication to creating meaningful dialogue. The yet-to-be-titled film, slated for release in 2025, will explore themes of compassion and the transformative power of human connection. Inspired by her own journey and the lives she’s encountered, the project is deeply personal. “I’ve always believed that stories have the power to heal and unite,” Rowland shared, adding, “With this documentary, I hope to not only inspire but also amplify stories that need to be heard. It’s an exciting challenge, and I’m thrilled to bring this vision to life.” The film, which is currently in production, will feature candid interviews and breathtaking visuals. Rowland is collaborating with a seasoned team of filmmakers and creatives to ensure the project resonates on both an emotional and intellectual level.
Rowland’s accolades are many, as she continues to receive more for her varied pursuits. Inspired by her roots, being the daughter of an artist and college professor, she was able to cultivate aspects of each profession, shaping who she is today. Rowland said, “ Looking back, I think a lot of my interests were subtly shaped by my parents. It wasn’t always direct— like them pushing me into something—but more through the environment they created. The kind of books lying around, the shows we watched together, the conversations at the dinner table—it all kind of planted seeds. Even the things they were passionate about or encouraged me to explore ended up leaving a lasting mark. Some of it I’ve carried forward, and some I’ve rebelled against, but either way, they played a big
on the other hand, let her explore those same things but in a more creative and emotional space.
Rowland’s time at Stella Adler led to a turning point for her. Acting was not just about learning technique but about completely shifting how she saw acting and in turn, how she saw herself.. The training went deep, not just a “stand here, say this” way of doing. It was about imagination, emotional truth and understanding human condition. Rowland stated, “They pushed you hard, but in the best way—like, they really challenged you to stretch beyond your comfort zone.” What she loved most was the emphasis on using your intellect and life experience to inform your work. It wasn’t about performing; it was about living truthfully in imaginary circumstances. She added, “ I left there not just a better actor, but with a stronger sense of discipline and self-awareness. It was intense, humbling and incredibly inspiring.”
Rowland has been diversifying her acting skillset, adding comedy to her resume. A lifelong sitcom fan, she has been taking comedy classes with Richard Kline—the actor best known as Larry in the late 1970s classic “Three’s Company” in Los Angeles. She has also been studying improv and sketch comedy in New York at the famed Upright Citizen’s Brigade, whose alumni include Amy Poehler, Horatio Sands, Matt Besser, Matt Walsh and Ian McKay. As for why this newfound desire in the acting realm, Rowland said,” Honestly, it kind of snuck up on me. I didn’t set out thinking, ‘I want to do comedy
now,’—it just started making more and more sense. I think there’s something really powerful about being able to make people laugh, especially when the world feels heavy. Comedy felt like a space where I could bring in a lot of myself—my timing, my observations, even my journalistic instinct to read a room or a moment—and use it in a totally different way.” She added,” There’s also a kind of truth in comedy that I’ve really grown to love. Good comedy isn’t just about jokes—it’s about nuance, rhythm and often saying something deeper in a way that disarms people. It’s terrifying and freeing at the same time, and I think that challenge is what pulled me in. It’s made me braver, honestly.”
Comedy seems very fitting as Rowland is knowledgeable of the many needs in our world, making philanthropy a priority in her life. Having it all starting from a simple feeling, Rowland didn’t want to just observe the world’s problems or talk about them, she wanted to be part of actually doing something. Over time, that urge just kept growing, and having a front-row seat to so many issues in New York, from inequality, injustice and stories of resilience—at some point, Rowland wanted to contribute in a more direct and tangible way. She said, “Philanthropy felt like a natural extension of that drive. It’s rooted in empathy, in wanting to shift something for the better, even if it’s just a little at a time. I’ve always believed that if you have a platform or any kind of privilege, it comes with a responsibility to use it well. And honestly, giving back has given me so much perspective—it keeps me grounded, and it reminds me of what really matters.”
Rowland has channeled so much of what’s been required of her in the fields she has worked with and been involved in. Her experiences have allowed her to truly dissect her life, know when to take a breather and be of use to individuals who can resonate with her. This is why her writing books is not a shock, but an addition to her already many accomplishments.
“Writing a book was one of those things I always felt was quietly sitting in the background—something I had to do at some point. It wasn’t really about proving anything, it was more like needing a space to process and express in a deeper, more personal way than other mediums allow,” said Rowland, who found the process intense, humbling and surprisingly therapeutic. It forced her to sit with things she might’ve skimmed over otherwise, needing to slow down, dig in and be honest. She didn’t want to write something just to add to the noise, but what felt meaningful, intentional and hopefully offering something real to whoever picked the book up. Rowland said, “It also made me realize how much I value quiet creative time—the kind where you’re just with your thoughts, without needing to perform or deliver instantly. That’s a gift, and I’d love to keep making space for it moving forward.”
“Discovering the Factor Within You,” Rowland’s first book, was really about that inner journey—tapping into your personal power, intuition and purpose. It was a guide for unlocking the things we often overlook in ourselves, those internal “factors” that shape how we show up in the world. Rowland said, “It was deeply personal, and I think it resonated with people because it wasn’t about becoming someone else—it was about uncovering who you already are.” With her second book, “The Charisma Factor,” it took that uncovering a step further, but in a different direction. It was more external-facing. While the first book was about inner work, the second was about how that inner clarity translates into presence, confidence and connection. Rowland said, “Charisma isn’t just charm—it’s energy, authenticity and the ability to hold space. I wanted to break that down in a way that felt accessible and practical, because charisma is something you can cultivate, not just something you’re born with.” Writing the second book felt like a natural evolution. After the first, I had more to say— especially as I grew, tried new things, and stepped into different spaces. It’s been an ongoing process of learning, sharing, and hopefully helping people feel more seen and empowered. Rowland is also involved with many organizations, where a lot of the focus is on access—whether it’s animal welfare, mental health, human trafficking or feeding the hungry, or underrepresented voices. Rowland is an animal rights activist, a vegan dedicated to healthy eating, who has been active with the national non-profit organization Last Chance for Animals since 1989 and is the president of the New York non-profit group Animal Ashram, which she founded in 2013. Rowland is drawn to initiatives that don’t just do charity but actually empower people, give them tools, platforms and dignity.
is drawn to initiatives that don’t just do charity but actually empower people, give them tools, platforms and dignity. Some of the work has been behind the scenes such as supporting grassroots groups, amplifying voices, helping raise awareness or funding. Looking ahead, she’s really interested in deepening those relationships, having stated, “less one-off involvement, more long-term, collaborative impact. There’s a lot brewing, and I want to keep showing up where it matters, with intention.”
With a world of knowledge, Rowland’s latest venture was inevitable—filmmaking. “Shooting my first documentary in Capilla del Monte, Argentina was one of the most surreal and expansive experiences I’ve ever had. The place has this energy—it’s known for its strong connection to UFO sightings, extraterrestrial encounters and what many believe to be intra-terrestrial activity, like civilizations existing within the inner earth beneath the mountains. I went in with curiosity, but what I found was something way beyond what I expected,” said Rowland. “It’s not just about sightings or lights in the sky—it’s about consciousness, about how people interpret and interact with these phenomena. The locals have a deep reverence for what they experience there, and I wanted to capture that in a way that’s openminded but grounded. We also explored the concept of light beings—these higher vibrational entities that people claim to have seen or communicated with. Whether you’re a believer or just exploring, it raises big questions about reality, energy, and what’s really out there—or within.” This documentary is ultimately a continuation of Rowland’s love for storytelling and the unknown. She’s
always been drawn to things that challenge the mainstream narrative, and this project has led her to dive into a world that’s mystical, controversial and deeply human. It felt like the right time for Rowland to expand into this kind of storytelling—to bring something mysterious, meaningful and maybe even paradigm-shifting to the surface.
For Rowland, what’s to follow in her constant evolving ways, includes deepening, not just expanding, having stated, “I’ve done a lot across different spaces—journalism, acting, writing, philanthropy, now filmmaking—but I feel like I’m in a place where I want to bring more of it together. I’m thinking more intentionally about alignment: what feels meaningful, what stretches me creatively and what contributes something real.” Rowland wants to continue exploring documentary storytelling, especially topics that sit at the edge of the known and the unknown—what spark curiosity and shift perspective. She’s also excited to build something that creates space for others to grow— potentially a platform or mentorship initiative that ties in storytelling, empowerment and transformation. She added, “And personally, I’m making more room for stillness too. Sometimes the next thing isn’t about doing more— it’s about listening more deeply, creating from a place of clarity and allowing whatever comes to unfold naturally. So yes, more projects, more purpose, but also more presence.”

For Autumn/Winter 2025-26, Sirivannavari has reimagined the commanding presence of equestrian attire through an avantgarde lens, combining heritage with artistic rebellion. Strength is present in every detail, complemented by a touch of poetic grace. This season, sharp athletic silhouettes are paired with couture craftsmanship, striking a fine balance between structure and fluidity.
“Equestrianism is not merely a sport. It is a world of elegance, discipline and artistry that has deeply inspired me. From the rider’s graceful style to the horse’s powerful beauty, every element, bits, bridles, saddles and stirrups, tells a story of heritage and refinement. This collection is my homage to that world, reinterpreted through couture craftsmanship and modern sensibility,” said Her Royal Highness (HRH) Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, founder and creative director of Sirivannavari.
The Collection: A Bold Reimagining of Equestrian Heritage
A/W 2025-26
Equestrian tradition takes on a new edge, merging power with refinement. Sharp tailoring, sculpted shoulders and sweeping capes reimagine the classic riding jacket with commanding presence. Corsetry channels Gothic romanticism, shaping silhouettes with an armor-like allure, while long coats with bold lapels evoke cinematic grandeur. Highnecked blouses, lace accents and flowing capes add a touch of dark poetry, contrasted with leather harnesses and gleaming metallic
hardware, striking the perfect balance between delicacy and strength.
Textures are highlighted, layering rich velvet, structured jacquard and luminous leather with sheer chiffon and delicate lace, balancing strength with grace and heritage with modern craftsmanship. Embroidery and metallic details, inspired by bridles and harnesses, bring equestrian heritage into every piece with precision and artistry.
The color palette deepens this narrative as midnight blue, obsidian black and noble burgundy stand boldly against stark ivory and shimmering silver, evoking the glow of moonlight on polished saddles and capturing the timeless elegance of equestrian nobility.
Menswear: Tradition Redefined
Paying homage to equestrian heritage, the menswear collection blends classic craftsmanship with modern sophistication. Tailored mantles, trenches, double-breasted blazers and gilets exude aristocratic ease, while slim-cut jodhpurs introduce a rebellious edge. Tartan wool ponchos and cashmere jackets add distinctive character, with reimagined check prints offering a fresh, contemporary take on tradition.
Every element showcases the brand’s dedication and commitment to craftsmanship and innovation, from saddle-inspired fastenings to bridle-influenced closures. Adding a bespoke, artisanal touch, the creative director’s handdrawn horse sketch is elegantly transposed onto a silk-cotton shirt, bringing exceptional craftsmanship to the forefront.
Leather Goods: Equestrian Icons Reinvented
This season’s handbag collection reinterprets classic equestrian essentials, transforming functional riding gear into sophisticated statement pieces. Each design achieves a refined balance of structure and fluidity, crafted from plush suede and supple calfskin. Finished with the brand’s signature golden clasps, it draws inspiration from the intricate mechanics of “horse tack.”
Henry Drawstring: This supple leather bag is crafted for versatility, elegantly shifting from work to leisure. Its tubular silhouette, inspired by traditional saddle storage, blends heritage with modern functionality. The fluid drawstring closure showcases exquisite craftsmanship, combining refined elegance with everyday practicality.
Martingale Sac: This sleek, structured design takes inspiration from the curve of a saddle pommel. Its sculpted crescent form and refined lines reflect expert craftsmanship, while the contrast between soft suede and smooth calfskin adds depth and character. Thoughtfully designed, it brings a touch of heritage to modern versatility, making it a timeless companion for any occasion.
Dream Bucket: This cylindrical masterpiece, inspired by equestrian utility, is designed to be both lightweight and perfectly structured. Blending form and function with precision, it features a secure top flap, a sturdy handle and a saddle-inspired strap, ensuring versatility without compromise. Signature equestrian hardware, from stirrup-shaped buckles to saddle beltinspired straps, highlight the collection’s attention to detail.
Shoes and Accessories: The Finishing Touch
Accessories elevate utilitarian riding elements into artistic expressions of refined luxury. Leather harnesses, sculptural belts and elongated gloves add a modern touch of armor. Knee-high riding boots merge practicality with high-fashion sophistication, bringing timeless equestrian style into a contemporary vision.
The shoe collection ranges from bold riding boots to architectural pyramid-heeled mules and handcrafted leather sandals. The signature pyramid cone heel, made from transparent plexiglass and luxurious leather, blends timeless elegance with cutting-edge innovation. Pushing the boundaries of design, costume jewelry reinterprets the bold geometry of equestrian elements such as horse bits, reins, stirrups and bridle chains, transforming them into sculptural metalwork of exceptional artistry. Sterling silver is the main focus, enhanced with leather accents to add depth and complexity. The collection is further elevated by a wool cap and belt, both designed in the distinctive shapes of a saddle and stirrups, bringing the equestrian spirit to life.
Sirivannavari Autumn/Winter 2025-26 reimagines equestrian heritage with bold sophistication, bringing power and grace into perfect harmony. This season, the collection paints a timeless picture of the eternal bond between horse and rider, reflected in sculptural silhouettes, exceptional craftsmanship and cinematic allure. Each piece, blending conscious design with contemporary sophistication, is made for the modern woman, embodying the essence of confidence, elegance and command— captivating at every turn.
At the heart of the collection is a yarn made from a high-quality cashmere, silk and wool blend, further refined in collaboration with a long-standing Italian yarn supplier.
Marc Cain is launching a new knitwear capsule inspired by the glamorous ski resort of Aspen. The collection embodies effortless luxury, offering the perfect looks for après-ski or a cozy trip to the mountains, complete with wellness and stylish lounging. The designs combine timeless elegance with a touch of opulence, accentuated by fine sequins.
At the heart of the collection is a yarn made from a highquality cashmere, silk and wool blend, further refined in collaboration with a long-standing Italian yarn supplier. The composition combines the incomparable softness of cashmere with the durability and quality of the yarn mix, making the material less prone to pilling. Thanks to the exceptionally fine structure of the yarn, both delicate and chunky knit patterns can be created, making the collection unique in its variety.
The designs stand out with luxurious details that form the heart of the collection, capturing the “Loud Luxury” fashion trend. Delicate sequins add elegant accents, whether through woven mini sequins, highlights in gold or silver, or subtly shimmering yarns. Particularly noteworthy are the exclusive cable patterns, which were specially designed by Marc Cain, stitch by stitch for the collection. Sophisticated fringe details, crafted in the in-house spinning mill, lend the knitwear an extraordinary touch. The loop fringes, which hold their shape perfectly after washing and do not fray, emphasize the precision and craftsmanship that goes into each design.
The collection is available in the colors of ecru, camel and grey mélange, and will be available in stores and online beginning mid-August of 2025.

Ficuzza is an exciting new Sicilian kitchen and pizzeria in the heart of the West Village. Founded by Francesco Realmuto of Realmuto Hospitality Group, whose other acclaimed concepts include L’Arte del Gelato, Realmuto Alta Pasticceria Italiana, Puya Tacos de Puebla and Filaga Pizzeria, this latest concept is inspired by the charming village of Ficuzza in the municipality of Corleone in Palermo, Italy. The restaurant draws from the town’s rich history and natural beauty, known for the breathtaking Bosco della Ficuzza, a forest and nature reserve in the Sicani Mountains, as well as the Royal Palace of Ficuzza, a hunting lodge built by King Ferdinand III of Sicily.
For Realmuto, opening Ficuzza has been the realization of a lifelong dream, closely tied to his memories of childhood walks with his father through the serene forests of Sicily, gathering chestnuts. These walks shaped his appreciation for the simplicity
and authenticity of Sicilian cuisine. The restaurant’s concept, like the forest itself, celebrates the beauty and unpretentious nature of Sicilian cooking.
Helming the kitchen is Executive Chef Romulo Barrientos (formerly of I Sodi, Market Table). Chef Barrientos has many years of experience working in Italian kitchens across New York City, including time spent with Scott Conant and Joey Companaro, who have given him an arsenal of skills in Italian cooking. The menu, created in collaboration with owner Francesco, highlights the finest simplistic recipes with deep, complex layers of flavor, honoring traditional Sicilian dishes. Expect timeless favorites like caponata, spaghetti with sardines, house-made Sicilian sausage sourced from Gaspare’s Prime Meats, known for its Italian links and a curated selection of thin-crust pizzas that showcase vibrant, authentic ingredients.
Ficuzza is located at 121 7th Ave South, New York, NY, 10014

Dessert offers standout sweet finishes such as Tortino Realmuto, a mini chocolate hazelnut mousse with fig jam and walnuts; and Panna Cotta con Crema Pistacchio, airy panna cotta drizzled with pistachio cream and sprinkled with pistachio.
The bar features a well-curated Italian wine list by Sommelier-General Manager Andrea Marchese (formerly of three Michelin La Pergola in Rome and Restaurant Studio in Copenhagen) comprised of red, white, orange, rosé and sparkling options. Expect Southern Italian wines, such as Etna Rosso, an acidic red wine originating from volcanic soil; and Viviri Sicilia Grillo, a white wine high in minerality due to the elevation at which the grapes were grown.
The bar also features aperitifs like Rossini Spritz, prosecco and strawberry purée; and Anitta, reserve vermouth, fortified wine and Angostura bitters. Bottled Italian beers, like Baladin Nazionale and Del Ducato Torrente are also available.
No small detail has been overlooked in creating an elegant yet comfortable ambiance. The 45-seat dining room, designed by Deborah Mariotti of Mariotti Studio, is infused with a forest green palette, inspired by the lush Sicilian landscapes that served as the restaurant’s muse. Upon entering, guests are drawn to expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that offer views of the bustling 7th Avenue South—ideal for people-watching.
At the entrance of the dining room is a striking Verde Guatemala marble bar with a beautiful backdrop that showcases a curated selection of wines and spirits. The walls are painted in sand colors to represent the architecture and design elements commonly found and seen throughout Italy, accented with mahogany wood panels. Dark wood tables and chairs with leafy green accents rest upon the pale Italian terrazzo floors. A tall velvety emerald curtain drapes elegantly, adding depth and sophistication while amplifying the nature-inspired ambiance—alfresco patio dining in good weather.
Blu on the Hudson brings a New York City-style dining experience to the waterfront in Weehawken, New Jersey. With stunning views of the Hudson River and the New York City skyline, land and sea come together at Blu on the Hudson, not just as a view, but on the menu as well. Blu on the Hudson has a seafood-forward menu accented by a top-fl ight steak program, homemade pasta, a one-of-a-kind cocktail program and soon-tocome rooftop event space.
The concept of Blu on the Hudson was created by Blu Hospitality Group, led by Kosta Gianopoulos, who collaborated with designer Peggy Leung—whose previous projects include Tokyo DisneySea and being one of the lead designers of TAO Las Vegas—to fi ll the expansive 30,000-square-foot space, designing a dining environment generally reserved for Manhattan. The sprawling interior has a cozy lounge with a large fi replace and reception, segueing into a spacious main dining room with floorto-ceiling windows that provide views of the Manhattan skyline. Centering the room is an elegant white marble-topped bar where artistically crafted cocktails are served, and behind the bar is an array of dining alcoves with green tropical-inspired walls. Beyond that, are two private dining rooms with a beautifully
curated wine wall. Separated from the main space by sliding glass doors is the Blu Sushi Bar, marked by red wallpaper depicting cherry blossoms, natural wood tables and an elegant marble sushi bar.
To undertake the massive project that is Blu on the Hudson, Blu Hospitality assembled an all-star cast of industry veterans to bring it to life: Executive Chef Juan Carlos “JC” Ortega (BR Guest Hospitality’s Blue Fin, Blue Water Grill and, most recently, Catch Steak); Beverage Director Jeremy Le Blanche (Thyme Bar, The Gibson, German Gymnasium); Sommelier Adam Greer (Dovetail, Chestnut) and General Manager Andrew Christianson (Restoration Hardware Hospitality, Morrissey Hospitality).
Chef Ortega has brought years of experience working with seafood and steak to create a menu composed of simple, clean ingredients that elicit complex fl avors by drawing on a variety of influences from the Mediterranean and beyond. His cuisine is elevated yet remains approachable, offering selections for every diner to enjoy.
The menu begins with a raw bar and crudos, which includes a “Haute Caviar” program with one ounce of caviar of choice served with crispy potatoes and deviled eggs; and East Coast oysters dressed with green tomato vinaigrette and tomato granita.
Appetizer highlights include a Basque-style shrimp in a pil pil garlic and chili sauce served with a toasted baguette; rice cakes topped with spicy tuna, tobiko and avocado; and steak tartare with cured egg yolk, cornichons, truffle, mustard and potato chips.
To create the homemade pasta, Chef Ortega collaborated with Chef Alberto Reyes, who worked under Chef Scott Conant as a butcher and pasta maker. The selections include lobster fra diavolo in a spicy simmered four-hour tomato sauce and basil;
hand-rolled gnocchi in a spicy vodka sauce with local ricotta; and butternut agnolotti in sage, brown butter and stracciatella.
Main courses are dubbed “Land and Sea,” and include roasted chicken served with bacon, baby spinach and radicchio; a whole branzino, baked and served with bearnaise sauce and charred lemon; and Faroe Islands salmon with glazed lentils, celery root puree and charred cauliflower.
Blu on the Hudson’s world-class steak program highlights Midwest Prime steaks, Australian Wagyu sourced from Westholme and Japanese A-5 Wagyu from the Kagawa Prefecture. Headlining the program is an exclusive Wagyu skirt steak, sourced from Westholme and only available at Blu on the Hudson, and a mouthwatering 16-ounce Delmonico, as well as a 40-ounce Wagyu tomahawk and 32-ounce Prime porterhouse.
Desserts were created by the pastry chef, Erika Martinez. They are inspired by classics and presented with a twist, like tiramisu with a semi-liquid top that is poured over the dish tableside; strawberry profiteroles with strawberry compote, yogurt cream and an almond crust; and flourless chocolate s’mores—gluten-free graham cracker with chocolate mousse and marshmallow.
Blu Sushi Bar, just off the main dining room, serves sushi as well as izakayainspired cuisine with flavor profiles similar to those in the main dining room, created by Chef Ortega in collaboration with K Dong, who owns Hinoki Greenwich and Miku Sushi in Greenwich, Connecticut. The concept
is meant to be more casual, offering creative dishes as well as lunch and takeout service.
To create the cocktail list, Jeremy Le Blanche, beverage director, drew from his experience in working at the best cocktail bars around the world, including Thyme Bar, The Gibson in London and German Gymnasium in London, to create a program that while unique, is still accessible. His drinks substitute fussy ingredients in favor of theatrical presentations and uncommon garnishes to retain their familiarity while creating a memorable experience for each guest.
The Wine Spectator awardwinning wine program was built by Sommelier
Adam Greer, who worked with Chef John Fraser at Dovetail and received much of his early wine education from Michael Connolly while working at Chestnut on Smith Street. He has curated a global wine list, with strengths in Bordeaux and Burgundy that features lesser-known wines for a great value relative to their plus quality alongside legacy producers. It includes a robust selection of wines by the glass, including five sparkling, eight white and 12 red selections, as well as a reserve list beautifully displayed in the restaurant’s wine wall.
Blu on the Hudson is just minutes away from Hoboken and Jersey City by light rail and a picturesque six-minute NY Waterway ferry ride from Manhattan.

Audriix (pronounced Audrey) is redefining what it means to be an independent pop artist. With an electrifying stage presence, undeniable talent and unyielding drive, she has quickly become one of the most talked-about names in music. Fresh off touring with Lindsey Stirling, Madison Beer and Aly & AJ, Audriix continues to capture the industry’s attention with her soaring vocals and infectious energy. In February, Audriix released her latest single, “Where the Boys Are,” marking a pivotal moment in her career. Debuting during New York Fashion Week (NYFW), she kicked off fashion designer Cesar Galindo’s runway show with a live performance of the track ahead of its release on Valentine’s Day.
“Opening NYFW with this song was a dream come true,” Audriix said. “It’s an anthem for anyone who’s ever felt like they didn’t fit into the traditional love story. We’re rewriting the narrative.” The upbeat synthpop anthem, co-written and produced by Grammy Award-winning artist Kevin Rudolf, blends her signature sound with his industry expertise. The single debuted as the No. 3 most-added song on Top 40 pop radio in its first week.
Audriix’s musical style is a dynamic mix of heartfelt storytelling, polished pop production and anthemic hooks. Her sound has drawn comparisons to Taylor Swift’s lyricism, Sabrina Carpenter’s youthful vibrancy and Dua Lipa’s danceable beats, with an added layer of artistic depth shaped by her classical training. A multi-instrumentalist, she is proficient in violin, piano, viola, guitar and drums—an impressive skill set that further cements her reputation as a versatile artist and songwriter.
“I’ve always believed that music should be more than just sound. It should tell a story, evoke emotion and take listeners on a journey,” Audriix said. Her latest album, “Twisted Fairytales,” released
in August 2024, takes listeners on an emotional journey through the highs and lows of toxic love, selfdiscovery and empowerment. The breakout single,
“I Do,” is an unapologetic reflection on a broken engagement, resonating with fans for its raw honesty and catchy melody.
“Writing ‘I Do’ was cathartic for me,” Audriix said.
“It’s about reclaiming your power after heartbreak and realizing you’re better off.”
The track’s success is further solidified by its growing radio presence, earning the No. 38 spot on the published Mediabase’s Top 40 Radio Chart and gaining airplay on major stations such as 103.5 KTU, KIIS and SiriusXM Hits 1 Hitbound.
Beyond radio play, Audriix is making waves in the live music scene. She delivered a show-stopping performance at the iHeart Dunkin’ Music Lounge in New York City, proving her ability to captivate both intimate audiences and large concert venues.
“She’s got this rare ability to make every performance feel personal, no matter the size of the stage,” a concertgoer said.
Her national tours alongside Stirling, Beer and Aly & AJ have further expanded her fan base, culminating in a standout performance at Red Rocks during Stirling’s Duality Tour in 2024. In another career milestone, her hit single “I Do” received a highenergy remix from Grammy-winning DJ Benny Benassi—an electrifying rework that strengthens her presence in the pop and dance music spheres.
Audriix’s achievements extend beyond music. She holds three degrees from Stanford University, including an MBA, and was a Division I athlete on the Stanford women’s golf team. Her background in computer science and business has given her the strategic knowledge to navigate the music industry on her own terms.
“Being independent means I have full creative control,” she said. “It’s challenging, but it’s also incredibly rewarding to build something from the ground up.”
As the head of her own imprint, Recursive Leap Records, she has established herself as a self-made artist with a keen understanding of both artistry and entrepreneurship. Her journey serves as an inspiration for young women aspiring to forge their own paths in music, business and beyond.
With more than 3 million streams and counting, Audriix’s influence is growing. After making a lasting impression at NYFW, she performed at the 2025 EDM Awards in Miami, further proving her versatility across multiple genres. She also appeared on morning television shows in Las Vegas, Tennessee and New York to promote “Where the Boys Are,” solidifying her presence in both mainstream media and the music industry.
Audriix is not just another pop artist. She is a force of nature, blending intellect, musicianship and unrelenting ambition. With a growing fan base, major industry cosigners and a fresh approach to modern pop, she is poised to become one of the next big names in music
Michael J. Fox, Phoebe Cates, Kiefer Sutherland and Dianne Wiest starred in the movie version of author Jay McInerney’s bestselling book Bright Lights, Big City which defined the decadent nightlife of the 80s in NYC. The debonair writer known for his good taste in clothes and wine celebrated his 70th birthday at a dinner party at Le Bernardin given by his wife, the media heiress, Anne Hearst, whose family owns Town and Country, and Harpers Bazaar among other titles. During a break in the five-course tasting menu by Michelin-starred chef Eric Ripert, the writer drew laughs when he confessed, “I’m really glad to have made it to 70 in 2025. Last year I had three different hospital stays—first for brain surgery, then open heart surgery and then another stay when I cracked my head open again,” he laughed, adding, “While in the hospital, my friend Chef Ripert sent me two meals that made me want to live again so here I am. Unfortunately, no one said no to this party, so we filled this room very quickly.” Among those drinking the vintage wines from the writer’s own cellar were friends from all over the country including Gregory Peck’s son Tony Peck and his wife Paula, Baroness Milly de Cabrol, Dana Hammond and her
husband Dr. Patrick Stubgen, designer Vera Wang and her husband Arthur P. Becker, Binky Urban, Robert Zimmerman, Candace Bushnell, Joesph Tobin, Chef Ripert’s wife Sandra Ripert, Risk and Returns author Wilbur Ross and his wife Hilary, Alison Mazzola who orchestrated the party and other members of the Demi-monde.
Third-generation gallerist Isabelle Bscher’s Galerie Gmurzynska made its Winter Show debut at the Park Avenue Armory with a vibrant display of 20th-century masterpieces and contemporary standouts. Front and center was Wesselmann’s Cigarette #1 —a jaw-dropping, twopaneled sculpture crafted from oil, wax crayon and printed paper. Commanding attention with its bold composition, the piece embodies Wesselmann’s signature “flirty narrative” in tandem with the evolution of his infamous smoker’s collection. Gmurzynska showcased a variety of artists. Some highlights included Georges Braque, Heinrich Campendonk, La Fermière, Wassily Kandinsky, Leichter Block, Jacques Lipchitz Sailor with Guitar and Joan Miró’s Untitled. Each piece echoed the gallery’s legacy of blending historic icons with boundarypushing visionaries. In the mix at the Opening Night Party were Michael Bloomberg with his decorator Jamie Drake, Martha Stewart, Ryan Murphy, Nicky Rothschild, Peter Marino, Jean Shairoff, Kathy Rayner, Dermatologist Dr. Howard Sobel, Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia, Coco Kopelman, Jerry Lauren, Divorce lawyers Martha Cohen Stine and Harriet Newman Cohen, and top Plastic Surgeon Dr. Bianca Molina. On the other side of the pond in Zurich, Switzerland, Bscher collaborated with Oscar-nominated actor and artist
James Franco for his “Hollywood is Hell” exhibition at one of her two Swiss galleries. Franco’s exhibition consisted of 28 monumental canvases and objects d’art reflecting destroyed posters on the street walls mirroring LA. The works, chaotic and visceral, serve as Franco’s visual interpretation of “a portrait of Los Angeles during Covid.” He added, “Collaging all those different mediums and forms of expression: This is my way. I started to make collages of new canvases on old canvases, then I repaint over them, so it becomes a kind of collage of my younger self with the new self. But the younger self was also, in a way, a product of Hollywood, when I was mostly an actor. So, it is really my young actor self being repurposed and put in to the collages.” gmurzynska.com.
