Putting It Together: How Do They Do It?
s we begin our new season, we have a special theme that will tie it all together: WE CREATE ART! You will undoubtedly see those words throughout the year as we celebrate the unique and complex process of what it takes to put a production together. Due to the high quality of shows that are mounted at the Theatre, many people believe that we are a ‘touring house’ for large-scale musicals and plays. The truth is, every detail of our productions is created here in Jupiter specifically for our audiences. This is an ambitious season with three large-scale musicals, a comedy that requires the set to be seen from both the front and the back, and a mystery that has enough details to keep you guessing. You might wonder how they accomplish all of this. Most regional theatres struggle to mount one musical, let alone three in just one season!

This year began with the difficult process of making tough cuts to the budget. Focus was put into the line items that will clearly advance our mission to entertain, educate and inspire our community as well as what we do best, create live theatre! In addition, the staff,
board, guild and volunteers have once again rallied together to support the various programs that make us unique including our Conservatory of Performing Arts, where we teach our next generation of theatre-goers the ‘art’ of theatre.
We have also reinvested in ourselves by partnering with two outstanding regional theatres, the Cleveland Play House (Noises Off ) and Asolo Repertory Theatre (Barnum ), which combined, brings us 150 years of producing experience. These co-productions allow us to produce larger scale shows for our audiences.
Finally, the biggest reason for our success is YOU! Because of your support, we boast over seven thousand subscribers who attend our productions, limited engagements and special events. This growth is unprecedented and defies trends of other theatres across the country. Additionally, our generous donors continue to bridge the financial gap to pay for the administrative, overhead and education expenses that keep the Theatre running.
So, when you bring your friends to the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, puff your chest out and hold your head high knowing that as we continue to grow, we will join the ranks as one of the greatest regional theatres in the country!
