Maltz Jupiter Theatre Receives Prestigious John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Grant
The Theatre proudly announces it has received a prestigious John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Grant awarded by the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties This grant is for the Emerging Artist Series in Musical Theater Playwriting. The Series begins with the solicitation of new works by artists from around the country. Those works will then be reviewed by leading theatre professionals They will select four new unpublished works and will host a one week writer’s workshop for the creative team chosen among the years readings.
Along with the staged readings, the program will include a related lecture series and a writing class on musical theater for young area residents
“The Emerging Artists Series in Musical Theater Playwriting will nurture the creation, development and recognition of new musical theater and generate a national search for works by emerging artists across the country,” said Andrew Kato, Artistic Director who will oversee the series.

Maltz Jupiter Theatre Wins Big at Carbonells
Winner of Best Musical Award Plus Five Other Honors
Man of La Mancha won Best Production of a Musical , Best Director/Musical - Peter Flynn and Best Light ing Design - Donald Edmund Thomas.
The Boy Friend, the theatre’s splashy 1920’s musical , won three Carbonells including B est Choreography/MusicalDenis Jones , Best Scenic Design - Dan Kuchar and Best Costume Design - Jose M. Rivera.
In 2007, the Theatre took home the prestigious Best Production of a Musical for The Tin Pan Alley Rag along with two others for Best Director of a Musical - Jiri Zizka and Best Musical DirectionBrad Ellis. Over the past five seasons , the theatre has won a total of eleven Carbonell Awards and has been nominated for 46.
The 32nd Annual Carbonell Awards took place Monday, April 7, 2008, at the Amaturo Theater of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale.

Tricia Trimble is New Managing Director of Maltz Jupiter Theatre
Tricia Trimble has been appointed Managing Director of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.
“It gives me great pleasure to promote from within,” said Chairman Milton Maltz. “Her experience and energy will take the theatre to the next level as we aspire toward creating one of America’s leading theatrical institutions.”
Tricia came to the theatre in 2005 as the Director of Development and has exceeded all fundraising goals, including raising 100% of the funds needed to build the Conservatory of Performing Arts (COPA). In her capacity as Managing Director, Tricia will be responsible for the operation of the Theatre, COPA and all fundraising.
“I am honored for the vote of confidence from the board to take on this important role and raise the funds to support the artistic genius and vision of Artistic Director, Andrew Kato,” Tricia said.
“Having worked closely with Tricia over the past few years, I am thrilled to partner with her as co-leaders of the Theatre,” Andrew said. “She and I share the same values and work ethic, and together, we look forward to making great things happen.”
Tricia has 20 years of experience in marketing, sales and management at the Fortune 500 Company WestPoint Pepperell, and has held leadership roles in several community organizations. A resident of Palm Beach County for 15 years, Tricia lives with her husband, Tom, and three children, Katherine, John and Michael in Palm Beach Gardens.
The Theatre Advances the Conservatory of Performing Arts with Additional Grants and Donations

The S. Harold Silvers Memorial Endowment Fund
In memory of former board member, the late Hal Silvers, a scholarship Endowment Fund was formed to honor his life. The Endowment Fund has grown to over $10,000 The Theatre continues to receive donations to this fund honoring Hal and his family.

The Making of a Musical Course
The Roy A. Hunt Foundation has granted the Theatre $10,000 to underwrite a staged reading. With this grant, Andrew Kato, Artistic Director, will conduct a series of classes on how to write and produce a musical. Students in this course will create Wonderland, an original musical based on Alice in Wonderland

Jim Hamm Named Volunteer of the Year at Annual Appreciation Event Volunteers
The Maltz Jupiter Theatre recognized and honored more than 300 volunteers at a special appreciation concert event featuring jazz great Copeland Davis. Anna Berardi-Grant, Director of Volunteers, welcomed the crowd and announced Jim Hamm as volunteer of the year.
“Jim tirelessly volunteers his time as a head usher, he works in the box office and assists me on volunteer coordination and administrative work in the office. He makes my job so much easier and I am honored to choose him for this distinguished award,” said Grant.
“Our dedicated and wonderful volunteers ensure that the Theatre is a success and without them, our continued success would not be possible,” stated Andrew Kato, Artistic Director. Kato donated a lunch with him for four lucky volunteers at Schooners as a raffle prize. All raffle prizes were donated by local merchants – many thanks to each one!

David became an official member of the Theatre’s marketing department after working as a freelance graphic designer for the Theatre’s first two seasons.
For the past decade David has been a freelance graphic designer for Fantasma Productions in West Palm Beach and for the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Ft. Lauderdale.
