There is nothing as fascinating as an Alpine pass for road bikers. There are some that cycle them for the beautiful landscapes, or because of historical reasons, and then there are others who are just after the long, steep climbs. In the end there is one limiting factor affecting all who set out on these accents and that is you can only cycle them during a few months of the summer and everything has to be just perfect for such adventures. Setting out on your journey the ultimate goal is to successfully reach the top, but the first obstacle to overcome is escaping the rat race. Space and time slowly melt away as you warm up, find your legs and get a comfortable cadence. Leaving the valley floor, the houses begin to thin out and eventually civilization is left behind as nature begins to take over. Your senses are awakened to the slowly passing landscape, cows grazing in the pastures, the smell of the forest and the warm sunshine kissing your face. All the elements are electrifying and they motivate you to pedal a straight line through the corners, leaving you grateful for the wide roads in this immense landscape.
