Concurrents dans de nombreux domaines, SES Global et Eutelsat ont néanmoins uni leurs compétences… et leurs ressources financières dans une infrastructure satellitaire de diffusion de contenus audiovisuels et de données vers les terminaux mobiles et les véhicules. Une entreprise commune, créée à parité entre Eutelsat et SES Astra, exploitera et commercialisera une charge utile en bande S sur le satellite W2A, pour un investissement de l’ordre de 130 millions d'euros. Cette bande de fréquences, jusque-là inutilisée par les deux partenaires, est adaptée à l'exploitation de réseaux de distribution de contenus vidéo, et autres services, sur des terminaux mobiles. Le satellite W2A doit être lancé début 2009 et exploité sur la position orbitale 10° Est. «Les applications mobiles constituent un élément important de notre plan de développement stratégique», a rappelé Romain Bausch, CEO de SES Global. || J.-M. Anti-Money Laundering VI With the arrival of the 3rd EU AML Directive, it is time for institutions to review procedures and training requirements. The fight against money laundering is in a constant state of evolution. Institutions are obligated to remain aware of the regulations and responsibilities and any changes to them. Within this framework, and with the arrival of 3rd EU AML Directive, the American Chamber of Commerce hosted the sixth panel discussion in October to address any new implications. Invited keynote speaker, Susan Grossey, Thinking About Crime, Ltd. (Cambridge, England), gave a presentation on how training can - and should - be delivered in a more effective manner. Vafa Moayed, Deloitte gave a presentation on the “touch of common sense” 3rd Directive and what the changes mean (for good or for bad). The point of awareness and thus effective training is two-fold. The first obvious result should be the prevention of money laundering, but the second is protection for a company. This means the protection of a business’s reputation. But it also means protection against liability should money laundering occur and a company be found to have been remiss in its legal responsibility to train certain members of its staff correctly. || M.
