ALPHA INTRODUCTORY MEALS Our second round of Alpha Course has started with a warm invitation out to the wider community to 'come and see' what Alpha is about. The first meal event was the brunch which was held at the Church Hall of Mahurangi Presbyterian on Sat, 25th where we served bacon and eggs. We had roughly 30 people turn up from various backgrounds to share a meal, watch the first Alpha video and participate in a small Alpha discussion. The second meal event was a dinner held at the Conference Centre of Leigh Central. The owners of Leigh Central, Jasmin and Allan Macdonald have arranged with the courier service to deliver the invitation to every mailbox in town. Ham on the bone dinner was beautifully catered for and a good blend of people from Pakiri to Matakana including some complete strangers joined in to share a meal.

<Alpha Groups> Totara Park - Jean and Sue Matakana - Barb and Bronwyn Warkworth - David & Joy Kaipara - TBC Men's Group - TBC Online - Hana & Matt with Rob & Robyn Leigh - Neville, Paul, Les & Glyndyr Please continue to pray that God will continue working in the lives of these people that came along or who have been invited to the Alpha course that they will attend the course. Also, keep in mind that it is still not too late to invite your friends to do the Alpha course! Feel free to invite people or share information that is available on our website. https://mahu.org.nz/alpha-course/

There are a few people who could not make it to either meal, that are still considering doing the Alpha course. The 7 Alpha groups that have been set up are starting on the first week of October, so there is still time to invite people along to them as well.

DINNERS & TESTIMONIES WITH YOUTH The Youth Leaders have organised a number of those who will be sharing their personal testimonies with Jesus, with youth that are part of our regular Youth Groups. Gary and Moe both have shared their personal faith journeys with the youth on Sunday evenings fortnightly. Testimony evenings are planned to continue until the end of November where it will be celebrated with a BBQ at Pastor Nick's house on the last day. May the youths in our community be filled with blessings, and they may have the opportunity to encounter God in a personal way.

LAST AGM UNDER THE STEEPLE The 20th of September, 2022 marked a historical day as Karen Jones had put it. The very last AGM meeting was held in our heritable building of Mahurangi Presbyterian Church with the iconic red steeple on the hill. This year's AGM was extra special especially considering last year's lockdowns prevented us from having an inperson AGM. Staff had the opportunity to share parts of their service for the people for God. The legacy of the edifice of Mahurangi Presbyterian Church was started by Rev. David Bruce until Rev. Robert McKinney from Ireland officially began his fulltime tenure in 1856. The building was always referred to as St. Columba of Warkworth along with other church buildings Mahurangi Presbyterian had such as St. Andrews and the late church building that used to be erected in Mahurangi East before it was destroyed in a storm in the 1990's. The church will draw the curtain on the tradition of holding AGMs in the St. Columbo building after marking its 166th year since its inception. Many people have come and gone, but it has been evident that God has always led the way as we centered around Him. As we look to entering the new era of new beginnings as a congregation, it is important to pause to commemorate and honour the heritage and the sacrifices that have been made to get thus far as well as to uphold hope and faith in God's plans for our future.

"Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. " <Proverbs 19:21>

A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE BANFF TOWN FROM SULPHUR MOUNTAIN GONDOLA

On September 4 I flew out of Auckland airport with my son and grandson bound for Banff, Canada. The journey included a 13 hour flight to Vancouver, a 3 hour transit at Vancouver airport, a 1.5 hour flight from Vancouver to Calgary and a 1.5 hour road trip from Calgary to Banff. It took around 25 hours From the time I left home in Warkworth to arriving in Banff. We were very glad to finally arrive at our destination and get some rest. One of the main reasons for the trip was to connect up with Rachael, Josh and Timothy again after Christine’s passing in March and to be in Banff for Timothy’s 4th Birthday. (Being present for the birthday was something Christine and I had earlier planned to do). This was the first visit to Canada for Matthew and William and it was really good to have their company as this was my first holiday trip without Christine. They were also excited to see where Rachael, Josh and Timothy (and Riffles the dog) lived and to experience the vastness of Canada compared to NZ. Other highlights of the trip to Canada were seeing animals such as bears, deer, elk, squirrels, visiting the Tyrell Dinosaur Museum at Dunheller, eating donuts and drinking coffee from Tim Hortons, DINOSAURS AT TYRELL MUSEUM

riding the zip line at Golden Skyway. We were also able to meet up with family friends who live in Calgary. I first met these friend when they came to live in my in-laws flat in Mt Eden around 1972 when I was dating Christine. On leaving Canada we had a couple of days in Los Angeles and managed a day at Universal Studios, a visit to the display of meteorites at UCLA university, and an afternoon and evening at Santa Monica Pier. A Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Restaurant meal at Santa Monica brought back special memories for me. Christine and I had eaten at Bubba Gumps in Hawaii while on holiday there around 2000. BIKING IN BANFF
