24-7 YOUTH WORK CONFERENCE Sarah and Moe flew to Christchurch to attend the annual 24-7 Youth Work conference 26-29 June. 24-7 YouthWork is a Christian based network of youthworkers that are based in schools all around the country. Moe and Sarah have been supporting a number of students from Mahurangi College through this programme. The theme of the conference this year was 'Tumanako' (= Hope) where inspirational keynote speakers shared insights and hope with fellow youth workers from around the nation. The unifying theme across all key speakers was that "we all need to be in prayers". In addition to the keynote speakers, they also had an opportunity to participate in a few different workshops. One workshop they attended was a Research Project conducted for the Pacific, Maori and the Disability Youth. This workshop helped to understand where different people looked for hope. Most of the findings came down to having a good family connection and good support that young people can have access to. All in all, the trip to the conference was productive and successful despite Sarah's health condition not being optimal at the time. Having a level of independence via a rental vehicle helped enormously along with good food and good company. Despite the numerous changes and challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis, youth workers have navigated and found ways to walk alongside youth that are experiencing high anxiety. Often this connection has been via technology. While both Sarah and Moe both enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow youth workers, they were also strongly reminded that they cannot overcome hardship and challenges only with their own strength. "God is the One that makes all things possible!".

LIVE CLUEDO WAS A SUCCESS! Rebecca Shepperd, Sarah Crombie and Megan Hughes (one of our Youth Interns) put in a .huge effort to successfully organise and plan the Live Cluedo event that took place on the 8th of July! This event was put together as a night for the Youth as well as the wider church family to have a fun evening and enjoy fellowship with each other. The event also attracted people from the Warkworth community including parents of youth group members. There were enough participants to form 9 teams of around 5-6 people to try to solve the mystery of who the murderer was. It was wonderful to see the effort the eight people chosen to be players went to portray themselves as authentic looking Cluedo characters. A special thanks to Melissa North who was able to fill in at short notice for one of the players who had became unwell. In the end only 1 team managed to solve the mystery. Thank you all for participating and getting involved to make it a wonderful night.

LOVE IN ACTION-HELPING HANDS Just over a dozen of Yr 9 and Yr 10 students from Horizon School, Snells Beach came to lend some helping hands at the Warkworth Christian Foodlink. This was in part as a response to the school's 'Love In Action' project. Students get the opportunity to have a practical hands on experience in initiatives led by people whose faith has led them to participate in activities that can make changes in people's lives. Davina started the session with a prayer, and explained the varying and increasing needs within the community for the food bank and how it operates. She shared her personal journey as to how she ended up being part of this impactful ministry. The students then split into small groups to help with repackaging different items such as flour, rice and laundry powder while other students also helped out with tidying away some empty boxes. Josiah Armstrong was also one of the students involved along with his mum, Lara who has been a key volunteer member of the food bank for quite some time. All-in-all, the students enjoyed serving and contributing to the community in a practical way and the Foodbank staff enjoyed the interaction with the students and also benefitted from their help.
