Congratulations to Michelle Saleupolu who has been training under the auspices of the Warkworth/Wellsford Budget Services. Recently she was awarded a certificate to signify her qualification as a Financial Mentor. This budgeting advice is a free service for individuals and families who are struggling financially or might want some help in sorting out their expenses. Financial Mentors such as Michelle can offer one on one budget advice and support for clients by offering services such as negotiating with creditors, liaising with Work and Income, and looking into the eligibility of using KiwiSaver to pay down debt.

If you know someone who may need support in this area, please let Michelle know, and she can arrange a consultation.

REPAIRING THE ORGAN

Our church organ was manufactured in 1990 and was installed in our church around 2005. Several years ago the keyboards had to be replaced and now more recently some of the electronics have failed. Ralph Cullen from Keyboard Music Systems is the agent for this brand of organ and he came to check out the options for repairing it. This involved taking the organ apart to identify the faulty parts. Because of the age of the instrument, a replacement part may prove to be difficult to source. Meantime Ralph managed to make a temporary repair so that the organ can still be played. Further investigations are ongoing to see if a more permanent repair can be made or what other solutions can be offered Whatever the solution it will come at a considerable cost.

MAHU VISION IN THE SPOTLIGHT

The third group were people from the Ministry of Pacific People Minister Aupito WIlliam Sio who is the Associate Minister of Foreign Affairs, Associate Minister of Education (Pacific Peoples), Associate Minister of Justice and Associate Minister of Health (Pacific Peoples) had previously met with the Mahu Vision Trust team in April. Advisors from this ministry made a return visit to attend the Young Navigators of the Pacific event at Mahurangi College Although the evening was hosted by Mahurangi College, our Mahu Vision team assisted with the organisation and the execution of the event. It was a very successful evening celebrating Pacific cultures, including dancing, speeches and food, The attention Mahu Vision Trust is getting is a testament to the hard work and the impact we are making within our community. Continued prayers will be appreciated for Mahu Vision Trust to truly flourish and for opportunities to broaden for Pacific people and that they will be equipped with a great sense of empowerment

During the month of August, a number of government officials made visits to Warkworth and Mahu Vision was included on the list of the organisations they wanted to visit The first visit was from an advisor from the Ministry of Education She came to hear about Mahu Vision's after school programmes and was interested to learn of the close relationship we have developed with the Kiribati community We are now exploring ways in which we may be able to work in partnership with MOE on conducting further surveys with parents, youth and children on matters relating to education.

The second visit was from Minister Priyanca Radhakrishnan. She is the minister of the Community & Voluntary Sector, Minister for Diversity, Inclusion and Ethnic Communities, Minister for Youth, as well as Associate Minister for Social Development and Employment, and Associate Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety. Her interest was around understanding the various activities Mahu Vision has been doing with Pacific peoples, particularly their youth. She was delighted with the scope and quality of the programmes that we have been doing with our community

GLOBAL

Sunday morning church on the 31st July saw the focus on global missions. We welcomed Carolyne Newton from WEC New Zealand (Worldwide Evangelisation for Christ) and she shared with us about her mission work in Bangladesh and also the opportunities and worth of short term missions. The Global Missions Team decided not to proceed with the "pot luck" evening meal this year A number of key people were either unwell or away for the weekend and in the interests of health and safety this meal was cancelled. Instead of the dinner we were blessed with a great evening service. It was led by members from our Kiribati community and included many wonderful personal testimonies about what God has been doing in their lives. This was a highlight of the weekend. Many hearts and lives of the congregation were touched and the presence of Holy Spirit was evident during the evening.

In spite of the very wet weather during July work was able to continue. All of the windows and doors have now been installed. A few of the windows are still awaiting the fitting of the glass. A lot of the internal framing for the bathrooms and office spaces have also been built. The electricians have been on site recently to begin installing the massive switchboard and running the necessary cables and wiring. Stage 2 building consent is still with the Council and we are hoping and praying for speedy resolutions on the outstanding issues. Continue to pray for the safety of the people working on the building site as well as the provision of sufficient funding to complete the total project.

1. Heat up oil in a pan or wok over a high heat. Quickly stir fry the garlic and ginger for a minute, then add the chicken pieces and continue stir frying for a further two minutes. If the pan is too small, you can take out the chicken pieces to rest in a different bowl.
