MAGNIFICAT SIXTH FORM

As a Magnificat student you will become a member of a thriving Post 16 community in which we learn from each other's values and beliefs. Catholic life is lived out in a real and practical way as we explore together our key values of respect, integrity, service and excellence.
We offer extensive opportunities to work with you towards securing your place in the ever-changing landscape beyond education. To build your personal profile we ask you to support the Catholic ethos of our schools by contributing your own time beyond lessons. These activities will draw on your personal talents and range from peer support to sustainable environmental projects, contributing to the Live Simply Award.
Through weekly Core RE sessions, you are encouraged to explore topical events and debate ethical issues. These encourage engagement with the wider world, and you may then become involved in charity fundraising activities such as, collections for local Foodbanks, supporting the most vulnerable in our communities and the annual St Basil’s Sleepout. Some pupils even go wider a field and complete international development programs, most recently in Vietnam and Swaziland.

As you come to the end of Year 11 you will have some very important decisions to make. As a member of our Magnificat community your future matters to us and our experienced teams will walk with you to ensure your future aspirations are realised.
You will join us at an exciting time as our reimagined curriculum will offer greater choice and inspiring contemporary subjects. In addition, our two Sixth Form campuses will provide you with high quality facilities to support your learning under the care of expert teachers.
Through a culture of collaboration, our enrichment programme is extensive, allowing you to learn new skills and build professional networks, aiding your journey towards a positive destination.
RESPECT – “Every person in our community is recognised, acknowledged and respected.”
Making the choice to join the Magnificat Post 16 community means that you can access a range of courses to meet your interests, on either, or both, of our campuses.
Our curriculum aims to build upon your academic excellence in Key Stage 4 and enable you to access your higher education and career ambitions. We therefore offer numerous courses, from traditional A Levels to vocational and applied alternatives. All of these can lead to university entrance and as a result most of our sixth formers go on to continue their studies at many of the top universities across the country. In addition, our guided pathways and growing links with employers ensure that upon leaving us you are well prepared for the challenges of employment.
INTEGRITY - “We are guided by ethical principles to support the development of our young people.”
Our unique and extensive enrichment programme aims to develop your skills in learning and open up new experiences that will benefit you immensely beyond Sixth Form. The timetabled sessions offer you many choices and have previously included Health & Wellbeing, Food Survival, Environmental Projects, Formula One Engineering, Creative/Performing Arts and Young Enterprise.
In addition, we encourage the completion of additional formal qualifications such as the Extended Project Qualification, MOOCS (online University projects) and D of E Silver/Gold. Leadership opportunities exist within your own school and across the wider consortium and include peer mentoring, ambassador roles and becoming a representative at our evolving pupil parliament.
Our vibrant Magnificat Consortium encourages you to look beyond your immediate environment through a cohesive package of cultural experiences to a variety of destinations such as London, Rome and Krakow.
SERVICE – “We commit to nurturing a sense of service and vocation amongst our young people”
When you join Magnificat, you will be allocated an experienced form tutor who is your daily point of contact within the pastoral system. They have a vital role to play and will check your attendance and punctuality daily whilst also discussing your academic progress and attitude to learning.
