Editor's Letter

As we step into another beautiful New Zealand summer, I’m delighted to welcome you to the latest issue of Eye Magazine.

Our stunning summer cover, photographed in the breathtaking Chandelier Room at the Cordis Auckland and featuring the radiant Miss New Zealand, Britney Pringle, captures the essence of elegance and celebration. This issue also brought double inspiration with a second cover also shot at the Cordis Auckland starring the ever-charismatic Colin Mathura-Jeffree for the talented team from Becca Project, showcasing their bold and refreshing new Haven Beard Oil campaign.

Inside, you’ll find pages filled with inspiration and summer energy from our Summer Grill offerings on page 154, to the fabulous social moments in All Eyes On from page 181 - 191, capturing the vibrancy of recent months. Be sure not to miss our Drinks feature on page 162 - we’re absolutely craving the Lychee & Yuzu Sour by Batched this season. Truly, the summer of sour has arrived.

This issue continues our commitment to celebrating remarkable women. Our Women to Watch feature on page 35 - 41 highlights inspiring women at the beginning of their careers, as well as those marking exceptional milestones in their businesses with stories that uplift, motivate, and remind us of the power of perseverance and creativity.

As Eye Magazine wraps up its 29th year of publishing and looks ahead to our 30th anniversary in 2026, I feel deeply grateful. Grateful for our loyal clients who have supported us throughout this journey, for our talented and hardworking team who bring creativity to every page, and for the many wonderful people we meet along the way.

On a personal note, I’ll be spending this summer in Northland with my husband and family, swimming, soaking up the sun, and enjoying time at our clay target shooting range, The Range NZ. It will be a much-needed chance to unwind and reconnect with family and friends, something I value more than ever.

I truly love what I do. My hope is always to live with honesty, integrity, and passion because in the end, that is what matters most.

From all of us at Eye Magazine, take time to cherish your family and loved ones this Christmas. Wishing you a joyful, relaxing, and sun-filled summer holiday.

Warmest wishes,

COVER SHOOT WITH CORDIS AUCKLAND

For our latest EYE Magazine cover shoot, we had the privilege of capturing pure elegance and modern glamour at one of Auckland’s most iconic destinations The Chandelier Lounge at The Cordis, Auckland. The setting, with its shimmering crystal chandelier, plush interiors, and refined ambiance, provided the perfect backdrop for celebrating timeless beauty and sophistication for our summer issue.

Our stunning cover model, Miss New Zealand, Britney Pringle, embodied effortless grace as she posed beneath the glittering chandelier, her presence lighting up the room as much as the dazzling crystals above. The shoot was brought to life through the breathtaking gown provided by Modes Newmarket, perfectly

complemented the opulent surroundings a fusion of couture style and contemporary elegance. Capturing it all was renowned photographer Norrie Montgomery, whose artistry and precision ensured every frame reflected the sophistication of the moment.

Following the successful shoot in The Chandelier Lounge, the team moved to the Chairman’s Suite, the jewel of The Cordis Auckland. With panoramic views of Auckland’s skyline, a private terrace, and interiors that exude understated luxury, it was the ideal location for our second look. Here, Britney was photographed reclining gracefully on the suite’s statement couch, a scene of effortless beauty framed by the suite’s tranquil tones and soft city light.

This shoot marks a special milestone for EYE Magazine as we prepare for our 30 years of publishing and go into 2026 exciting to have locked in our highly anticipated Women to Watch 2026 event at The Cordis, Auckland. The partnership is a natural fit; The Cordis, known for its impeccable hospitality and world-class design, mirrors EYE Magazine’s own commitment to excellence, inspiration, and empowering women in business and life.

A heartfelt thank you to the team at The Cordis, Auckland, for their warm hospitality and for allowing us to showcase their breathtaking spaces. Together, we’ve created a story of beauty, strength, and celebration — one that truly sparkles.

GIVING PEOPLE A VOICE

Monique Bradley and the Vision Behind TEDx Wynyard Quarter

Monique Bradley has built her career on the power of storytelling. As a keynote speaker, MC, and TV presenter, she has dedicated her life to helping people find their voice and step confidently into their story. Now, she is taking that mission to a new stage as the license holder and curator of TEDx Wynyard Quarter 2026.

For Monique, the waterfront precinct of Wynyard Quarter is more than a backdrop, it’s a metaphor for possibility. Once a gritty dockyard, it has been transformed into a thriving hub of innovation, culture, and community. That journey of regeneration mirrors the kaupapa of TEDx Wynyard Quarter: to reimagine the future where innovation meets humanism.

“Auckland changed drastically through COVID,” she explains. “The way we work, the way we gather, and the way we do business will never be the same. The real question now is: what does thriving look like for our city, our people, and our future? TEDx Wynyard Quarter is where we explore those answers.”

The event will bring together bold thinkers, cultural leaders, and disruptors across business, sustainability, community, and the arts. With sessions designed for intimate audiences of 100, from decision makers and entrepreneurs to policy shapers and innovators, the stage will showcase voices that spark transformation, both locally and globally.

Monique’s vision is clear: to create a platform that amplifies diverse voices, challenges outdated thinking, and sparks new possibilities for business and community life. “Every voice matters. Every idea has the potential to change the way we live, work, and connect. TEDx Wynyard Quarter is about giving those voices the stage they deserve.”

As Auckland looks toward its next chapter, TEDx Wynyard Quarter promises to be more than an event. It is a call to imagine what becomes possible when creativity, innovation, and human values unite.

BOUGIE ON A BUDGET

Comedian Marshall Lorenzo has absolutely had it. He’s tired, he’s broke, and he’s convinced the world is burning. Having thrown in his six-figure salary for a sack figure and calories, the Tāmaki Makaurau-born comic is making it work in this economic downturn. Because if capitalism is about to crumble, we may as well go down looking fabulous. An award-winning comedian and writer of the debut season of Canada’s Drag Race, Lorenzo spent the last decade of his life honing his craft in Toronto, Canada. Now back in Aotearoa, he’s already made a splash, having collected eight NZ Fringe Nominations and winning the coveted 2025 NZ Fringe International Exchange Award with his shows Baby Gorgeous and Build Ups respectively. With his latest show, Decadunce, having just opened in Auckland to rave reviews, the comedian is gearing up for a big 2026. Though having built momentum in his short time back, Lorenzo wonders if there still will be a 2026, and if not, does he still have to pay back Afterpay? The comedian shares his top tips on how to live bougie on a budget.

First of all, I just wanna say that statistics show that one in ten cleanskin bottles of wine could contain the remnants of a 2024 Vavasour sav blanc. So I always make sure to knock back thirty bottles a week in case I get lucky. Speaking of, all restaurants are technically BYO if you strap a goon sack to your inner thigh. Just say the plastic tubes coming from your pants are from “the illness”. Thinking of renovating your kitchen? Start a small fire and gaslight your landlord into believing his wife destroyed the smoke alarms! Struggling to stay on trend? Fast fashion is frowned upon, so invest in slow fashion: half knitted sweaters that show under-boob. Looking to impress hookups with a skin-care routine? Fake it using the ‘Mrs Doubtfire method’ and lather your face with a vanilla buttercream frosting. Can’t afford an Uber home? Simply yell “my Uber’s here!” and wander off into the nearest alley. Hide in the trash until your friends have left. And finally, never shop at Briscoes; only low-income people shop there; high-income earners scream at the store manager, Janine, just to feel something.

Now fully committed to living a lifestyle outside of his means, Lorenzo’s new show delves deeper into fraud, excess and stupidity. Featuring various unforgettable characters (Including the Briscoe's lady!), and biting commentary on the dilapidated state of it all! Catch Decadunce at the 2026 New Zealand Fringe Festival, February 19–21, 8 pm at Bats Theatre in Wellington.

Dancing With The Stars NZ

Q: Nerida, dance has clearly been a lifelong love for you. When did it all begin?

A: Honestly, I’ve been dancing since I could walk! Movement has always been my way of expressing joy and energy. What began as a childhood passion quickly turned into something much bigger, a career that has now spanned over three decades. Dance has taken me all over the world and given me experiences I could only dream of as a little girl.

Q: You’ve had an incredible career on stage and television. What moments stand out most?

A: There are so many highlights! Competing internationally across Singapore, the UK, and beyond in Dancesport competitions was thrilling. But being part of Dancing With The Stars NZ was truly special, first as a professional dancer, then later as head choreographer and dance producer for three seasons. I also loved my time on So You Think You Can Dance and Battle of the Ballroom. Each show challenged me creatively and gave me the chance to connect with audiences through storytelling and movement.

Q: You’ve also dedicated much of your career to teaching. What drives you as an educator?

A: Teaching gives me so much joy. For over 20 years, I’ve worked with everyone from absolute beginners to seasoned competitors. I love seeing people transform and watching someone go from shy and uncertain to confident and expressive is incredibly rewarding. I believe dance is for everyone, and that it can change lives, not just bodies.

Q: You’re also a mum to two boys, Kees and Jett. How has motherhood influenced your journey?

A: Hugely. Kees was diagnosed with autism at two, and Jett had multiple allergies as a baby. Those experiences reshaped how I view resilience, patience, and love. During the COVID lockdowns, I started creating fun dance and challenge videos with my boys. What began as a way to keep our spirits up became something much bigger and our videos grew to over 570,000 followers on Instagram and 300,000 across other platforms. People connected with our energy and message that dance truly is for everyone.

Q: You’re now sharing that philosophy through a new project - tell us about it.

A: Yes! We’ve developed a dance tutorial website that offers lessons for all levels and styles - from beginners to advanced dancers, plus a teachers’ module for schools. The idea is to make dance accessible to everyone, anywhere. Dance builds confidence, strengthens mental and physical wellbeing, and brings people together. My boys and I have really bonded through it, and I hope we can inspire others to find that same joy and connection.

Q: Finally, what does being a “Woman to Watch” mean to you?

A: It’s such an honour. To me, it’s about using what you love and in my case, dance, to make a difference. Whether I’m performing, teaching, or creating content with my kids, I want to show that movement can unite, heal, and uplift us all.

Women to Watch

Shiny Gao is turning her lifelong passion for jewellery into a thriving business with Shiny & Co Jewels, recently launched in Newmarket. Drawing on her family’s Hong Kong heritage, luxury-industry experience, and an intuitive sensitivity to fashion, colour, and styling, she is redefining modern, accessible luxury for New Zealand women. For Shiny, jewellery is not just something beautiful to wear it is a styling tool, a confidence-builder, and a way to elevate any outfit effortlessly.

Many women struggle to match jewellery to their wardrobe, especially during birthdays, Christmas, or special occasions. The outfit is perfect, the dress is stunning but the jewellery feels too simple, too everyday, or far too expensive. Shiny recognised this gap. And that’s where Shiny & Co’s true strength lies: helping clients integrate jewellery seamlessly into real life, with personalised advice on choosing the right piece for the right moment. It’s not just jewellery, it’s a full styling solution built around accessibility, design, and a deep understanding of how women want to feel.

Q&A: Shiny Gao, Founder of Shiny & Co Jewels

Q: Can you tell us how Shiny & Co came to life?

A: My love for jewellery started in my family’s business in Hong Kong. Craftsmanship and gemstones were part of everyday life for me. But the idea crystallised after a personal experience, a burglary where I lost some of my most cherished natural diamonds. It made me rethink what jewellery means emotionally and practically.

Q: How did that shape your business direction?

A: I realised there was a gap between high-value jewellery that felt too precious to wear, and everyday pieces that lacked meaning or presence. I wanted to blend beauty, meaning, durability, and accessibility, ethical, wearable luxury that felt personal and empowering.

Q: Your luxury background at La Prairie must have influenced your approach.

A: Absolutely. Luxury is about storytelling, curation, and texture. I wanted Shiny & Co to reflect that: pieces that make people feel celebrated. Jewellery should enhance life’s moments, not just mark them.

Q: What sets Shiny & Co apart?

A: We work directly with world-class artisans and source materials without middlemen, offering museum-quality craftsmanship at accessible prices. But the heart of our brand is styling. We help clients select jewellery that elevates their wardrobe whether it’s for everyday wear, a special event, or a milestone moment.

Q: How would you describe the brand’s philosophy?

A: “Globally curated, locally loved.” New Zealand deserves its place on the global style map. Every piece celebrates individuality and meaningful moments.

Q: Any advice for women starting a business?

A: Trust your instincts, honour your values, and surround yourself with people who uplift you. Your passion is your power.

Q: What’s next for Shiny & Co?

A: Continued innovation, new collections, new materials, and unforgettable client experiences. We want jewellery to be not just worn, but truly felt.

Q: Any final thoughts for readers?

A: Jewellery is connection and storytelling. At Shiny & Co, we help you celebrate your own light, bold, brilliant, and uncompromising.

Anna Silcock & Sally Souness Directors, Parnell Gallery - A Mother and Daughter Duo

This year marks an extraordinary milestone for Parnell Gallery, 50 years as one of New Zealand’s most respected and enduring art institutions. Founded in 1976 by Sally Souness and now co-directed with her daughter Anna Silcock, the gallery has built a remarkable legacy of nurturing New Zealand talent and helping collectors connect deeply with contemporary art. We caught up with Sally and Anna to talk about art, legacy, and the power of women-led business.

EYE: Sally, take us back to the beginning, how did Parnell Gallery come to life?

Sally Souness:

I had long been drawn to the art world. My Mum had a studio and was always creating. I completed a BA with a major in Art History and then spent two years exploring Europe. Returning to Auckland at the age of 23, I opened the gallery, then called The Hang Up Gallery. I had always wanted to have a gallery, so with my strong love of art and desire to create something, this was like a dream come true. Back then, it was all about instinct and connection. I trusted my gut and worked hard to build something meaningful.

EYE: Fifty years is an incredible legacy, what are you most proud of?

Sally:

The relationships we have with our artists and collectors, some of whom have been with us for decades. I'm proud that we've maintained our integrity and commitment to showcasing excellence in New Zealand art and grown without compromising on what we stand for.

EYE: Anna, when did you know you wanted to be part of this journey?

Anna Silcock:

I’d always been close to the gallery growing up, but after several years in London, I returned to New Zealand drawn by the lifestyle, the beaches, and being closer to family. I continued my career in project management for a time, but in 2011 I joined the gallery as Manager and quickly realised how challenging and rewarding the work was. By 2016, I knew this was my future and became co-director alongside Mum. It’s been incredibly fulfilling to build on her vision, invest in the gallery’s growth, and evolve it for the future.

EYE: What’s it like working as mother and daughter?

Anna:

It’s a gift. We have mutual respect and complementary strengths. Mum brings deep experience and instinct, and I bring strategy, operations and a fresh perspective. We challenge each other in all the right ways!

Women to Watch

EYE: What advice would you both give to women in business today?

Sally:

Believe in yourself and trust your instincts. If you're passionate and committed, that shines through. Build a strong team to support a shared vision, and nurture your relationships; they are the foundation of everything.

Anna:

I’d add: know your value, trust your vision, and don’t be afraid to evolve. Also, surround yourself with good people who inspire and challenge you.

EYE: What advice would you give to someone starting their art collection?

Anna:

Start with what you love. Art is deeply personal. Visit galleries, ask questions, and take your time. We’re always here to guide collectors, whether they’re just beginning or expanding a collection.

EYE: What’s ahead for the gallery in its 50th year and beyond?

Sally:

We will celebrate our 50 years in the art world, acknowledging and thanking all our artists and collectors who have been part of the journey. Without their support, we wouldn't be here today.

Anna:

While celebrating the 50 years, we remain firmly focused on the future, with an expanded digital presence, the introduction of dynamic new artists, and our ongoing commitment to making contemporary New Zealand art accessible to a broad and diverse audience.

Quickfire with Anna & Sally:

Favourite part of your job?

Anna: Seeing an artist’s career flourish from the very beginning. Sally: Helping someone find a piece they’ll treasure forever.

Personal style in art?

Anna: My mind is a constant flow of ideas, so in my home I’m naturally drawn to works that invite stillness and space for reflection. I tend to choose paintings or sculptures on instinct—pieces that stir something within—rather than seeking out a specific style.

Sally: This is a difficult question for me as I’m not drawn to one particular style. I suppose you only have to look around the gallery to see what I enjoy! Art gives me great pleasure, whether it’s about form, colour, shape, or learning about an artist’s process. When it resonates with me, regardless of style, that’s my style.

Three words to describe Parnell Gallery: Enriching. Authentic. Trusted.

INVESTING

Does it pay to do it yourself?

There’s no denying that ‘Do It Yourself’ (DIY) culture is quintessentially kiwi. In the case of financial services, there are more DIY share trading platforms available than ever before. But this begs the questionjust because you could do it yourself, should you? The answer to this question depends on many factors including your financial literacy and expertise, the time you have available to manage your investments, and your attitude to risk and appetite for fees. Let’s look at these in closer detail.

Fees are a factor

When it comes to fees, DIY investing is usually the more affordable option as you’re not paying for the services of a qualified investment adviser or a professional investment advisory firm. However, lower fees doesn’t mean no fees. For example, frequent trading can result in brokerage and other administration fees being charged, which can add to your costs over time.

DIY investing can be risky without a solid understanding of financial markets and effective investment management. While a professional investment advisory firm like Craigs Investment Partners can be more expensive than DIY investing, the advantage of an investment adviser is their ability to help you create and implement a tailored investment strategy based on your objectives and risk profile, that will set you up for success over the long term.

Control and flexibility

There’s a perception that DIY investing allows you more control and flexibility over your portfolio. However, an expert investment adviser should be responsive to your needs and the level of involvement you wish to have in managing your investments. They should also design a portfolio that can flex according to your needs and situation. Craigs offers a range of investment products and services to suit your preferred level of involvement. Clients can view their portfolio and reports 24/7 through the Craigs client portal and mobile app.

A Craigs investment adviser will take the time to understand your goals, preferences, and risk appetite, helping to create a personalised investment portfolio tailored to your needs.

Financial literacy

While DIY investing can be a way to learn about financial markets, is this something you are comfortable learning by trial and error? Craigs offers a programme of investor education and specialist women’s wealth workshops. And of course, your Craigs investment adviser is your own personal resource.

Craigs’ private wealth research team is one of the largest in New Zealand, and produce market-leading research and global market data, available for Craigs clients to access any time through the client portal and mobile app.

Sounding board

DIY investors may be more susceptible to biases that can influence decision-making. For instance, DIY investors may be inclined to exit investments based on market noise rather than sound investment strategy and research.

Other common biases include a tendency to invest in familiar assets or being influenced by discussions with friends or media coverage. An investment adviser is a sounding board for these decisions and is there to support you through periods of market volatility and help you to stay on track towards your financial goals.

Sara O’Connor, an investment adviser at Craigs Investment Partners says investment advisers are there for you during the highs and lows. “Putting an investment adviser between you and your money can help when markets are volatile. A good investment adviser will help protect you from yourself, and keep you from making potentially expensive, reactive decisions. We are there to lean on, use us.”

Peace of mind

O’Connor says working with an investment adviser should ultimately bring you peace of mind. “Think of your investment adviser as an experienced partner on the path to financial security. Sure, you could take the long route and probably get yourself there eventually, but you’re a busy person with lots of other goals and priorities to keep track of. Enlisting the help of an investment adviser can prove to be a wise decision.”

Expertise

Craigs investment advisers have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the financial industry, which can benefit individuals who may not have the time or expertise to manage their investments. Annabel Shand, an investment adviser at Craigs Investment Partners, explains. “Your Craigs investment adviser can offer you personalised financial advice to help you hit your financial goals and build your wealth. Craigs investment advisers specialise in developing, implementing, and maintaining an investment strategy that supports your financial goals through all of life’s changes, and the market’s changes, too.”

Time to switch?

Sara and Annabel have had several clients who began down the DIY investment route and later switched to engage them as their investment adviser.

Common reasons cited for switching are lack of time and energy to manage investments, lack of expertise and changing financial goals and circumstances. Sara says the emotional benefit, peace of mind and comfort that the financial aspect of your life is guided by experts, cannot be underestimated.

“Many of us use experts in other areas of our life, like when it comes to our health and legal matters. When it comes to managing your investment portfolio, the choices you make today won’t just affect you now, or tomorrow, or the next few weeks. These are decisions that may very well determine your financial health in the long-term.”

So, when it comes to investing does it pay to do it yourself? The answer to this depends on the factors outlined above, which includes your attitude to risk and fees, financial literacy and expertise, and available time and energy to manage your investments. When it comes to investing, just because you could DIY, doesn’t mean you should.

To discuss your investment goals and needs, contact a Craigs Investment Adviser for a free no-obligation consultation. They will help you understand the most suitable investment options based on your circumstances and objectives.

SERENE

“This dress is red and yes it is a statement.” These opening lyrics to Serene’s first original song are a good example of the mindset she has taken on since moving to New Zealand six years ago with her husband and four young sons. They uprooted from England in search of a place they could not only survive in, but thrive in - putting action behind those dreamy conversations. After months of travelling and knocking on doors to see which ones would open, they found Aotearoa.

Upon arrival, Serene bought a speaker and a microphone and made her first stage the Auckland streets. “Ajourneybeginsbytakingonefirststep,” she says. Busking led to an approach from a barber who wanted to treat his customers to songs whilst getting their hair cut. From there, a restaurant owner asked for live music. Serene took on all opportunities that came her way - paid or unpaid, small audiences or large - showing up, showing up, showing up… making passion the driving force.

Serene is now launching as an artist, singing fresh and captivating originals and interpreted covers of buried songs that deserve more life. Her first show is launching early next year. Expect a feast of velvety vocals, rocking rhythms, and exploding energy!

THE CONNECTOR BEHIND FIELD TRIP

Foras long as she can remember, Sheree Moanaroa has been the person who brings people together, the organiser of weekends away, the connector of different circles, the one who curates the vibe and makes everyone feel at ease. She’s always loved creating spaces where good energy flows and meaningful connections happen naturally.

Her professional life has been just as dynamic. With deep experience in international strategy, Sheree spent years helping to grow New Zealand’s $5B international education industry, leading market development and global engagement across Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The work was purposeful and impactful but Sheree knew it wasn’t her end game. Something more creative and human-centred was calling.

That instinct had been shaped long before. Over a decade in hospitality, including years learning under Giuseppe Malaponti, the beating heart of Wellington’s dining scene, gave her an intuitive understanding of what it means to host. From Giuseppe, she learned the art of anticipation noticing what people need before they ask, setting the tone, and ensuring every guest feels seen, relaxed, and cared for. It’s that blend of strategy and soul that became the foundation for Field Trip, the brand Sheree created to redefine how adults socialise. Born from the frustration of endless group chats, overbooked calendars, and plans that feel like admin, Field Trip makes connection easy again.

Whether it’s an aesthetic city event or a full weekend away, it’s about exclusive vibes, not exclusive people.

A curated social calendar for those who like their weekends a little more considered. Always DJ-led, always a little elevated, never too serious. Expect bowls club takeovers, giant picnics, and quiz brunches with a twist.

“I wanted to bring back the magic of effortless connection,” Sheree says. “It started with a flat we called The Vortex, a place where you’d show up without a plan, and the best nights just happened. Field Trip is my elevated version of that. We’ve grown up, our standards are higher, but the desire for genuine fun and connection hasn’t changed.”

Now in her 30s, Sheree sees Field Trip as a creative playground for grown-ups, a space where design, hospitality, and community collide. From nostalgic summer camps to curated city experiences, every event blends thoughtful design with spontaneity, allowing people to simply show up and know it’s going to be a good time.

“Field Trip is the most fun I’ve ever had working and the most intentional,” she says. “It brings together everything I care about: connection, brand identity, hospitality, and moments that feel like magic but are grounded in strategy. Because the best weekends of your life aren’t the hardest to plan, they’re just the best designed.”

Becca Project | $71 HAVEN - Men's Body, Beard and Face Oil (100ml)

BEARD OIL BY BECCA PROJECT

Thereare photoshoots and then there are moments when artistry, personality, and product align so perfectly that they tell a story bigger than the image itself. That was the atmosphere at The Cordis in Auckland, where Becca Project unveiled its latest luxury grooming essential: their all-natural beard oil, brought to life by the unmistakable charisma of Colin Mathura-Jeffree.

Colin, dressed in a crisp white shirt that accentuated his warm complexion and impeccably sculpted beard it was clear this wasn’t going to be just another grooming campaign. This was a celebration of modern masculinity: intentional, refined, and rooted in self-expression.

The Cordis Auckland, known for its sleek architectural lines and calming neutral palette, offered the perfect backdrop. Clean white walls echoed purity and simplicity and echoed the very values at the heart of Becca Project. The grooming industry often markets beard oil as rugged or rebellious. But this shoot flipped the script. This wasn’t about taming a beard, it was about styling it.

Becca Project Beard Oil is for the man who understands that grooming is not vanity, it is ritual. It’s the morning moment of intention that sets the tone for the day. It is self-respect, bottled. And this beard oil is where intention begins.

Beccaproject.co.nz

Grounding. Sophisticated. Effortless.

HAVEN is your daily dose of calm and confidence. A deeply nourishing oil for the face, body and beard, it's crafted with lightweight botanical oils that absorb easily to hydrate skin and soften coarse hair.

Infused with essential oils of manuka, bergamot and sandalwood, the scent carries notes of cracked pepper and citrus peel, smoky vanilla, aged leather and earthy woods. Bold yet balanced, it leaves a warm, lingering aroma that feels both grounding and elevated.

Made for the modern man who moves with intention.

TWO ISLANDS

From NZ Roots to Global Growth

Born from a simple idea during Julia Matthews’ nutrition studies, Two Islands emerged from a clear frustration: the wellness industry was saturated with fillers, low doses, and overpromising claims. Julia envisioned a brand that would do the opposite: clean, honest, high-strength formulations built on transparency and trust. That philosophy remains the foundation of one of New Zealand’s most respected wellness brands today, loved for its premium ingredients, rigorous testing, and unwavering integrity.

Now, with a strategic and considered entry into the China market, and fresh from showcasing at the China International Import Expo (CIIE), Two Islands is entering an exciting new chapter. We spoke with founder Julia Matthews about how the company began, what sets its products apart, and what it really takes to expand into one of the world’s fastest-moving wellness markets.

Julia explains that the brand never came from a single “aha” moment. Instead, it grew from a gradual realisation that consumers deserved better. During her studies, she saw firsthand how often supplements relied on unnecessary fillers or under-dosed ingredients. Two Islands was her response, a commitment to efficacy, purity, and formulas people could trust.

This uncompromising approach continues today. Every product is built around high-strength, evidence-based dosages, premium ingredients (many clinically studied), and minimal excipients. The brand conducts its own testing on every batch, from identity verification to microbial and heavy-metal screening, to ensure what’s on the label is exactly what’s in the bottle.

Two Islands’ B Corp certification also shapes its ethos. Sustainability isn’t a marketing line; it’s an ongoing commitment. While Julia acknowledges the brand isn’t perfect, she embraces progress over perfection. Refill options, packaging reduction, and partnerships with organisations like the Climate Action Group all ensure Two Islands is continually improving its impact on people and planet.

When asked when China first became part of their growth plan, Julia explains that while the idea surfaced early on, the market’s complexity meant the timing needed to be right. That moment arrived when their now-China partner approached them. After a long period of alignment and due diligence, the partnership became clear: strong local expertise paired with Two Islands’ NZ-made integrity. With the right foundations in place, China became a natural next step.

The move is fuelled by a rapidly growing interest in women’s health and preventative wellness across China. Consumers are research-driven, proactive, and eager for trusted international brands that deliver real results. With clean formulations and high-strength ingredients at its core, Two Islands found strong alignment with local wellness priorities.

What ultimately influenced the decision, Julia says, is how closely these needs align with the brand’s purpose. And, with our China partner’s deep understanding of the market, it became clear that demand is meaningful and growing for clean formulations, high-strength ingredients, and products designed specifically for women.

Entering China has required adaptation. The market moves at extraordinary speed, with different ingredient preferences, dosage expectations, and communication styles. Instead of reshaping existing products to fit China, Two Islands allowed the market to guide them, a mindset shift that underscored a bigger lesson: successful global expansion means listening deeply and respecting local needs.

Through every step, Two Islands has stayed anchored in its NZ roots. Its local China team leads market execution, but all product development is a true collaboration, ensuring that the brand’s clean-ingredient, evidence-based values remain intact.

Rather than adapting its core values for China, Two Islands is bringing them along, pairing a uniquely NZ ethos with local expertise to create wellness products that feel both authentic and deeply relevant to Chinese consumers.

MENOPAUSE

She noticed the small things first, the dress that used to be a comfortable friend now pinched at the waist, the sudden heat that rose like a blush across her neck during a staff meeting, the way sleep tumbled away at 3 a.m. and decided not to come back. Mara had always thought of herself as practical: sensible shoes, sensible plans, sensible responses. Menopause, however, arrived unannounced and entirely unsensible. She tried to laugh it off for a while. Then she read. Then she talked to friends. She learned the language of perimenopause and menopause: hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings, brain fog, aching joints and the quiet, sneaky thinning of hair. The list was long, and the relief was, for many women she spoke with, a patchwork of small things that added up to better days.

Mara didn’t want hormones if she could help it. She’d seen friends take a pharmaceutical route with great success and she respected that but she also wanted to try a natural path first. Her bookshelf is filled with herbal guides and blogs. That’s when she found The Herb Farm, an earthy, proudly New Zealand brand whose Wild Yam Cream was written about in forums, local wellness shops, and product pages across the country.

The cream promised support for hormonal balance and easing of menopause-related symptoms; it’s made with wild yam extract alongside soothing allies like rose extract and evening primrose oil. Many Kiwi retailers stock it, and customers liked its gentle texture and ritual-like application. Mara read testimonials from women who swore by applying a fingertip of wild yam cream daily to wrists or inner arms and felt calmer, cooler, more balanced.

Natural expert Barbara O’Neill a name that seemed to appear again and again in the threads Mara followed and recommended wild yam highly and spoke about its benefits from years of practice and client feedback. The approach was careful and patient: small doses, consistent use, and attention to lifestyle alongside botanicals. Mara liked the tone, empirical but empathetic and the idea that a jar of cream could be part of a self-care ritual rather than a last-ditch fix.

But Mara is a careful reader. She also came across clinical studies and balanced reviews. One trial of topical wild yam extract suggested it was safe and free of side effects but reported little effect on menopausal symptoms in the short term, a reminder that consistency is important. Mara took this as encouragement to set expectations: herbs can help some people, and for others the changes are subtle or slow.

She decided to proceed with curiosity, not certainty, and to keep a journal of how she felt. The ritual of putting the cream on itself seemed to help and after about a month there was definite balanced feeling that could only be the addition of the cream.

The Herb Farm’s cream became part of her nightly routine. There was something soothing about the ritual of a gentle massage, the scent of rose, the softness on skin and small improvements followed. Her nights weren’t perfect, but they were steadier. The hot flushes still came now and then, but they were less dramatic.

She learned to pair the cream with other supportive products: evening primrose oil for essential fatty acids, nutrient-rich diets, and targeted supplements when needed. The Herb Farm’s focus on local ingredients and simple, compostable packaging made Mara feel like she was supporting a kinder loop for her body and the planet.

The Herb Farm actually have an entire MenoSupport range that has heaps of awards, one particularly good product is the Cooling Mist for hot flushes and also their MenoSupport Night Cream (that just won Silver in the 2025 Clean + Conscious awards). Both are very very popular & top sellers.

As her confidence grew, Mara explored oral supplements tailored to menopause support.

She encountered MenoMora, a line of stage specific formulations that aim to support mood, sleep, skin and metabolism across perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause. The company frames its blends as whole-body support rather than a single “fix,” and many women report feeling steadier on a tailored regimen.

Mara liked that MenoMora products were designed with different life stages in mind, so she could choose what matched her experience. She kept using the wild yam cream while considering a supplement such as MenoMora Embrace to help through the rougher patches. Mara’s path wasn’t linear.

Some days she felt like the old her; other days she’d need extra breathing room, a friend who understood, or a quiet walk. The natural route had given her agency and tools that fit into her life a cream she loved, a supplement she trusted after reading the labels and checking reviews, and rituals that reminded her she could care for herself gently and intelligently.

If you’re curious about trying the natural route like Mara, here are ten practical tips she learned along the way:

1. Start with a baseline: Keep a symptoms journal (time, intensity, triggers) for at least two weeks so you can notice patterns and measure progress.

2. Read labels and ingredient lists: Know what’s in a product. The Herb Farm’s Wild Yam Cream, for example, includes wild yam extract plus supporting botanicals like rose and evening primrose.

3. Look for reputable sources and transparent ingredient lists: It's important to note that The Herb Farm products are free from nasties and they do not use any known endocrine-disruptors. Many menopause support products include ingredients that are actually working against them. E.g. parabens, phthalates, PFAS etc (these all disrupt natural hormones and can be endocrine disruptors, not actually help them). If someone is using Wild Yam Cream (any brand), and then a different product with PFAS, then the effects won't be as great as if they're also trying to counter those endocrine disruptors.

4. Talk to a trusted healthcare provider: Natural doesn’t automatically mean safe for every condition (e.g., history of hormone-sensitive cancers). Discuss any herbs or supplements with your clinician.

5. Be realistic about evidence: Many plant-based remedies have anecdotal support and positive user experiences, but clinical trials can be limited or mixed. Set gentle expectations.

6. Build a ritual, not just a regimen: Daily application of a cream can become a small act of self-care that reduces stress independent of the active ingredients.

7. Pay attention to diet and movement: Whole foods, hydration, regular exercise, and weight-bearing activities support overall menopause health.

8. Consider stage-specific supplements: Brands like MenoMora offer formulations aimed at different stages (perimenopause, menopause, postmenopause). Read the serving suggestions and ingredient blends to pick what fits your phase. Track interactions: if you take prescription meds, check for interactions especially with herbs that influence hormones or metabolic enzymes.

9. Opt for quality and sustainability when possible: Locally made products often share sourcing details and tend to have transparent packaging and production practices.

10. Stay open and patient: Natural approaches often work slowly. If a product or strategy doesn’t help after a thoughtful trial (weeks to months, depending on the treatment), reassess and try another supported option.

If you want to begin with concrete options Mara tried: The Herb Farm’s Wild Yam Cream is a gentle, New Zealand-made topical that many women add to their natural-support toolkit; it’s often paired with evening primrose or other botanicals for overall hormone-balancing support. For oral support, MenoMora offers stage-targeted tablets and capsules that many women find useful to stabilize mood, sleep and energy through the transition. Always pair any new product with clinical advice tailored to your health history.

Mara’s story didn’t end with a dramatic “fix.” Instead, it settled into a quieter triumph: she felt seen, informed, and better able to shape her days. The natural route wasn’t a single golden ticket, but it gave her tools, community, and the confidence to try and to change course if needed. If that appeals to you, start small, read widely, and keep a journal. Your body will tell you what it needs; your job is to listen.

THE EXPANSION ERA

Inside the Work That is Transforming Women’s Lives

There is a certain presence to Tinelle Langdon - the softness of someone deeply attuned, paired with the grounded confidence of a woman who has rebuilt her life from the inside out. It’s this magnetic duality that has made her one of New Zealand’s most quietly influential voices in modern women’s transformation.

As a mindset and manifestation coach, breathwork facilitator, and founder of The Wellness Haven, Tinelle’s work centres around one clear intention: helping women evolve into the magnetic version of themselves they always sensed existed beneath the noise.

In a world where overwhelm has become the norm, Tinelle offers something rare; a space where women learn to lead from regulation instead of reactivity, expansion instead of contraction, and clarity instead of chaos.

Her approach blends nervous-system work, subconscious reprogramming, breathwork and future-self embodiment into a methodology that feels both spiritual and undeniably practical. It’s transformation without the fluff: grounded, repeatable and designed for real life.

“When a woman reconnects with her inner world, her outer world begins to shift in ways she never thought were possible.”

This is the foundation of Tinelle’s work, not by forcing change, but by remembering who you were before survival mode became your default network.

Tinelle’s clients describe something deeper than mindset shifts, it is more like a whole new way of being; one that’s better than they could have ever imagined. This is why so many women are drawn to her work, because expansion isn’t just a result, it’s a way of living.

With a growing community across New Zealand and internationally, Tinelle is redefining what modern personal development looks like. This is the Expansion Era, and Tinelle Langdon is one of the women leading it.

ELEVATED MOMENTS AT CORDIS, AUCKLAND

Serenity in the Sky and Stillness Within

There’s something quietly transcendent about the way Cordis balances the energy of the city with a sense of complete calm. Set just above the bustle of Symonds Street, this urban retreat has mastered the art of slowing time. Whether you’re gazing out over the skyline from the Club Lounge or surrendering to stillness within the softly lit Chuan Spa, every experience here is built around one idea; that true luxury lies in peace, presence, and care.

Perched high on Level 14, the Club Lounge feels like a world apart. Morning light pours in through floor-to-ceiling windows, washing the space in warmth as the city stirs below. Guests drift in quietly for breakfast at Eight Restaurant, where baristas know your order by the second morning, and the hum of conversation blends with the clink of cutlery. By mid-afternoon, the pace slows even further. Plates of delicate sweets and savoury bites appear, accompanied by fragrant teas, and the lounge becomes a sanctuary for reading, reflection, or simply watching the clouds drift across the skyline.

As day turns to night, the ritual of pre-dinner drinks and canapés begins. The lights of Auckland flicker to life beyond the glass, and the atmosphere takes on a gentle glow, a hush of contentment shared among travellers and locals alike. Attentive staff glide through the room with quiet precision, offering another pour or a perfectly timed plate. It’s this understated elegance that defines the Cordis experience: everything you need appears without asking. Guests staying in Club Rooms and Suites enjoy exclusive access, while others often find the upgrade worth every cent for the privacy, comfort, and small luxuries that make it feel like home above the city.

Below the skyline, a different kind of serenity awaits at Chuan Spa; a space that replaces city noise with the sound of water and breath. The moment you step inside, the outside world fades. Here, the design is guided by the five elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water, each one reflected in the textures, scents, and sensations that shape the experience. Before any treatment begins, guests are invited to pause: to sit, breathe, and discover which element may be out of balance.

From there, the ritual unfolds with an ease that feels almost ceremonial. You move between warmth and cool, from the herbal steam room to the sauna, through an invigorating ice experience, and finally into the heated rooftop pool, suspended between sky and city. By the time you lie down for your treatment, your body feels open, your mind unhurried. Therapies range from deeply restorative oil massages to Gua Sha facials and hot-stone experiences designed to melt away the weight of long days. Every touch feels intentional, every moment grounded in stillness.

What makes Chuan Spa more than just a luxurious add-on is its sense of purpose. This isn’t simply about pampering; it’s about connection; to self, to body, to balance. Valet parking, thoughtful amenities, and award-winning therapists add polish to the experience, but it’s the feeling of renewal that lingers long after you’ve left.

Together, the Club Lounge and Chuan Spa create two sides of the same story, one outward, one inward. In the lounge, life slows among skyline views and champagne glasses; in the spa, it softens into silence and scent. Both invite you to pause, to breathe, and to savour the rare luxury of stillness in the heart of Auckland. Cordis doesn’t just offer a place to stay; it offers a rhythm, one that moves gracefully between connection and calm, indulgence and introspection, sky and soul.

From the moment I arrived, I felt not just welcomed but genuinely cared for, a feeling that lingered long after check-out.

My room was a serene retreat high above the city: spacious, light-filled, and elegantly designed for both comfort and calm. It was the kind of view that instantly grounds you in the moment, reminding you that you’re somewhere truly special.

A MAIDEN VOYAGE TO REMEMBER

Theexcitement was palpable as Oceania Riviera embarked on her maiden Down Under voyage. While the full 22-day “Komodos & Kangaroos Voyage” began in Singapore, Oceania Cruises thoughtfully divided the itinerary into shorter segments for media, knowing most travel writers can’t be away for weeks at a time.

Our segment began in Fremantle, Perth, where I stepped aboard and immediately felt the thrill of joining a ship that blends luxury, comfort, and exploration so effortlessly. Over seven unforgettable days, Riviera would carry us from the sun-soaked shores of Western Australia to the untamed beauty of Kangaroo Island, before concluding in vibrant Adelaide. It was the perfect slice of a much larger adventure, offering a taste of Australia’s diverse coastlines while indulging in world-class cuisine, serene spaces, and the exceptional hospitality Oceania Cruises is known for.

Our first stop combined the charm of Busselton with the sophistication of Margaret River. Busselton welcomed us with a gentle breeze and endless stretches of white sand, while a wine tasting tour through Margaret River’s finest vineyards was nothing short of outstanding. Sampling rich, full-bodied reds and crisp whites while learning about the winemakers’ craft was a true delight for the palate. The experience perfectly combined the beauty of the countryside with the joy of indulgence, a must-do for anyone exploring this part of Australia.

A stroll along the iconic Busselton Jetty, stretching over 1.8 kilometres into the calm, turquoise waters, offered a serene counterpoint, reminding me how effortlessly this region balances relaxation with adventure. Next came Albany, a place that tells stories of both history and nature in its every corner. Known for its dramatic coastline and rich whaling history, Albany offered a glimpse into Australia’s rugged southern edge. A scenic drive along the Torndirrup National Park revealed towering granite cliffs and the wild power of the Southern Ocean. Every turn felt like a postcard: the natural rock formations, the crashing waves, the untouched beaches Albany was a feast for the senses.

As Oceania Riviera sailed eastward, anticipation built for Kangaroo Island, a place synonymous with Australian wildlife and pristine landscapes. The island did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, the natural beauty and biodiversity were awe-inspiring. Watching kangaroos graze in their natural habitat, spotting koalas tucked among eucalyptus branches, and exploring untamed beaches with powdery sands reminded me why Kangaroo Island is often considered a sanctuary for both wildlife and those seeking refuge from city life. Guided tours revealed hidden gems, secluded bays, ancient rock formations, and the island’s famous Remarkable Rocks, sculpted by centuries of wind and sea.

Onboard Oceania Riviera, each day was carefully curated for wellness, entertainment, and social connection. A daily schedule of competitions, quizzes, live bands, and theatre shows meant there was always something to enjoy. For those seeking relaxation, the ship offered serene spaces to rejuvenate, meditate, or simply enjoy the ocean view. Wellness events, from yoga sessions to guided stretches, kept mind and body in harmony throughout the journey.

Dining on board was equally memorable. The ship’s restaurants offered a culinary journey as exciting as the destinations themselves. Fresh seafood, artfully presented dishes, and attentive service made every meal special. All staff were friendly, personable, and remembered your name, something that instantly made the ship feel welcoming and safe, even for solo travellers.

Our final stop, Adelaide, welcomed us with a vibrant mix of culture, cuisine, and history. The city’s leafy streets, bustling markets, and renowned wine regions made for a perfect conclusion to the voyage. As we disembarked, I reflected on the seamless balance Oceania Riviera offered: the thrill of exploration tempered with the luxury of a home at sea.

The “Komodos & Kangaroos Voyage” was an immersion into the very soul of southern Australia. From the sophistication of Margaret River and the quiet charm of Busselton to the untamed beauty of Kangaroo Island, every moment felt curated, intentional, and unforgettable. Oceania Riviera’s maiden Down Under journey proved that travel, when paired with comfort, luxury, and thoughtful hospitality, becomes more than a holiday, it becomes a story you carry with you forever.

REDEFINING LUXURY

The Rise of Meaningful Travel

It’s hard to define luxury travel in a modern context. Once, it meant gated villas, members-only clubs, champagne on ice, butler service, high-thread-count sheets, multi-course Michelin-starred dinners, and private jets. While some of those things still absolutely apply (we all still love champagne and crisp sheets, don’t we?), the definition of luxury is shifting, some might say for the better.

Josh Loughnan has been in the travel industry for nearly two decades and has witnessed this evolution firsthand. “We’ve worked with guests looking for all kinds of holidays over the years at Weka Travel, and have definitely noticed those in the luxury sector seeking more authentic experiences than before. They still want beautiful accommodation and high-quality food and beverage, but where they once wanted a total escape from everything, many guests now want to connect more deeply and understand the country they’re in properly. Maybe it’s a byproduct of Covid - whatever it is, we’re loving watching it evolve.”

This is not a new concept for Loughnan. He fell into travel 20 years ago while in Italy, where he lived for 17 years (until 2017), and it has shaped his philosophy ever since. “I hate staying in places that feel generic and disconnected,” he says.

“I always want to learn about people’s lives and connect with their communities wherever I go.” Weka’s latest trip is a perfect example of this. “I was recently in Bali and stayed at two incredible luxury properties, Five Elements and Buahan Bayan Tree Escape” says Josh. “What struck me was not just how beautiful they were, but also the experiences they offered. You could pick your own culinary ingredients from a local farm and learn to cook Balinese dishes with super-talented local chefs, forage with a mixologist for native ingredients to make cocktails, visit honey and coffee plantations, and even learn traditional sweet-making in a nearby village. The chefs at the villas were outstanding - and instead of serving French or Italian fare like days gone by, the menus celebrated the best of Indonesia. It was so much fun and so real - it didn’t feel like a contrived display for tourists, just real interactions with people from the area, and so many laughs! ”

That trip sparked a desire to share these kinds of experiences with others, and a chance meeting with Anna King Shahab, cookbook author, food and travel writer, and founder of the hugely popular food community Lazy Susan, made it clear he wasn’t alone in that thinking. “As a food and travel writer, I stay in some pretty amazing places,” says King Shahab, “but there’s no point in all the fancy hotel rooms in the world if you feel like you could be anywhere. I love places that give you the opportunity to connect with local food and people, so when Josh suggested I host a Weka Tour next year, I jumped at it. I’ve been to Bali so many times and love the food there so much.”

For travellers like Josh, luxury isn’t about escaping reality - it’s about enriching it with genuine connection, shared meals, laughter with locals, and the feeling that you’ve actually had a peek into real people’s everyday lives. He’s very excited to see that the new luxury isn’t measured in thread counts or Michelin stars, but in the stories you take home and the people who become part of them.

SKY HIGH IN FIJI

Editor Megan Prime had long awaited their tropical escape, and Fiji’s Malolo Resort offered the perfect blend of luxury and island charm. Their journey began with Island Hoppers, a game-changer in Pacific travel.

Flying from New Zealand, the ease of stepping off a direct flight and onto a short hop to their paradise destination was instantly liberating.

“The convenience is unmatched,” Vanessa remarked as they checked in at Nadi Airport. Island Hoppers’ counters are conveniently located right at the terminal, so there’s no stress, no long shuttles, just seamless boarding onto a comfortable helicopter designed for island-hopping efficiency.

Megan added, “It felt almost like our own private service efficient, personal, and stress-free.”

The flight itself was an experience. From the air, the archipelago spread out like a glittering jewel box, each island surrounded by turquoise lagoons. The Island Hoppers’ pilot shared local insights, pointing out the vibrant coral reefs and hidden beaches that only a few get to see from above. In less than an hour, the editors were landing on the runway closest to Malolo Resort, ready to dive straight into Fijian bliss.

Malolo Resort welcomed them with the signature warmth of Fiji white sands, swaying palms, and waters so clear they could see the coral from the shore. But it was Island Hoppers that made it all possible, turning what could have been a complicated transfer into an effortless, scenic adventure.

For anyone seeking a slice of paradise without the usual travel stress, Island Hoppers is the gateway.

Vanessa and Megan’s journey was proof: from the airport straight into island serenity, every moment of the flight and transfer enhanced their anticipation of Malolo Resort, leaving them with nothing to do but relax, explore, and soak up the island life.

Beyond transfers, Island Hoppers caters to thrill-seekers with Free Fall Fiji, offering skydiving adventures from 10,000 to 14,000 feet. POWERING NEW ZEALAND’S RURAL FUTURE

Powering New Zealand’s Rural Future: PowerHub’s Smarter Energy Solution for Dairy Farmers

For most dairy farmers, power isn’t just another bill, it’s the lifeblood of their operation. From the early hours in the milking sheds to the hum of refrigeration units, water pumps, and electric vehicles, the farm runs on energy. But as the conversation shifts toward sustainability and efficiency, the question becomes: how can farmers manage rising energy costs, reduce emissions, and futureproof their operations, all without heavy upfront investment?

That’s where PowerHub comes in.

PowerHub is a New Zealand electricity retailer with a difference. Beyond simply supplying electricity, PowerHub offers renewable solutions as a service, designed specifically for working farms and rural properties. The concept is simple: farmers switch their electricity supply to PowerHub and, for a small monthly subscription, gain access to a fully managed suite of clean energy products, no upfront capital required.

Every farm has unique energy needs. Whether it’s powering milking sheds, running refrigeration for vats, heating water, or managing irrigation systems, energy use is high and often unpredictable. PowerHub’s team works alongside farmers to design a tailored energy transition plan, creating a system that works as hard as the farm does. This can include solar panels installed on shed rooftops or on available farmland, battery storage systems to capture and use solar power around the clock, electric vehicle chargers and charging stations for on-farm transport, and backup diesel generators for guaranteed reliability during outages.

Each installation is owned, managed, and maintained by PowerHub. Farmers don’t need to worry about upkeep, replacements, or technology upgrades, it’s all covered as part of their monthly service. That means no capital expenditure, no complex maintenance, and no downtime. Just reliable, renewable energy, delivered as a service.

By switching to PowerHub, farmers aren’t just getting an energy retailer, they’re gaining a partner in innovation. PowerHub manages the entire value chain, from the power supply account and infrastructure installation to system monitoring and performance optimisation. The service model allows farmers to benefit from the latest renewable technology while keeping cash flow healthy. With the infrastructure owned by PowerHub, farms can access cleaner energy without tying up capital that’s better spent on production or herd management.

There’s another bonus too. With a verified renewable energy system in place, farms can strengthen their environmental credentials. Banks are increasingly recognising sustainability investments through green loans, offering reduced interest rates for businesses taking measurable steps toward carbon reduction. With PowerHub’s energy transition plan in place, that conversation becomes much easier.

Traditional energy upgrades often come with steep upfront costs, long payback periods, and ongoing maintenance headaches. PowerHub eliminates all of that. Their model is designed to remove barriers to clean energy by turning it into a subscription service, much like you’d subscribe to your phone plan or farm management software. You simply switch your power account to PowerHub, choose your service package tailored to your farm’s needs, and start enjoying the benefits of a fully managed renewable system, solar, battery, generator, and more, all integrated and optimised. It’s reliable, predictable, and completely hassle-free.

PowerHub isn’t new to this space.

Recently, Ara Ake, New Zealand’s government agency for future energy development, recognised PowerHub as one of the leading innovators helping to unlock the country’s energy flexibility. The endorsement highlights PowerHub’s commitment to practical, scalable solutions that benefit both the environment and the economy.

If you’re looking for a smarter, simpler, and more sustainable way to power your farm, without the burden of upfront costs, PowerHub’s renewable energy service could be the solution.

By switching your power supply to PowerHub, you’re not just managing today’s electricity needs, you’re futureproofing your operation for the decades ahead. Lower costs, lower emissions, less stress. That’s the PowerHub promise.

Start the conversation with PowerHub today and take the first step toward a cleaner, more efficient future for New Zealand farming.

HAPPY TRAILS, SAFE TAILS

In New Zealand, the stunning landscapes invite dog owners and their furry companions to explore the great outdoors. However, as much as we love seeing our dogs run freely, it is crucial to prioritise safety by keeping them on a lead.

Keeping dogs on a lead prevents potential accidents and ensures the safety of our pets, wildlife, and other park-goers. Off-lead dogs can inadvertently disrupt local wildlife, chase after animals, or even create hazards for themselves and others. This is especially important in areas where birds nest or native species roam.

Moreover, having a dog on a lead fosters a sense of responsibility among owners and promotes positive interactions with other dogs and their owners. It helps create a calm environment that is enjoyable for everyone, ensuring that dog-friendly spaces remain welcoming.

As we navigate New Zealand’s breathtaking parks and trails, let’s commit to keeping our dogs on leads. This simple act not only safeguards our beloved pets but also protects the natural surroundings we cherish. Together, we can enjoy the beauty of our landscapes while ensuring a safe and rewarding experience for all involved. After all, a happy dog is a safe dog!

RAISING GREAT PUPPIES

Q&A with Maria Quayle-Guppy of Bellawai Goldendoodles

Our dogs live alongside us and our children on our lifestyle property in the Bay of Islands. They grow up exploring bush tracks, beaches, rivers, cafés and town life, daily experiences that naturally build confidence and resilience. Because we raise most of our breeding dogs from puppyhood, we shape their trust, temperament and companionship skills long before they ever become parents.

Q: How hands on are you during the puppies’ first weeks?

A: Extremely. I’m present for every birth, often supporting our girls for up to 10 hours. My husband and I sleep in shifts for the first two weeks to provide round the clock care, what I affectionately call my “midwoof” duties. From their first breaths we handle and nurture each puppy, building positive human association from day one.

Q: What early development and training do you focus on?

A: From three days old we begin Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI). By three weeks, the puppies start open crate training, clicker and voice work, wearing leads, sitting, and recall. They have loads of toys and activities that change all the time. This important step is something we pride ourselves on as we know reduces risks of boredom and resource guarding when puppy goes home with you.

Q: Tell us about your breeding program.

A: We breed boutique, carefully planned litters of both 1st and 2nd generation Goldendoodles, as well as purebred Golden Retrievers. All of our breeding dogs are fully health and genetically tested. Our dogs have gorgeous enrichment gardens rather than kept in kennels and runs all day. This social relationship with each other keeps their emotional regulation happy. The adults (like the puppies) all have lots of things to play on, in and with every single day in clean lovely spaces.

Q: What inspired Bellawai?

A: It began with Polly, our first Goldendoodle, clever, joyful, intuitive and full of unmistakable heart. My husband had Golden Retrievers growing up. We felt driven to create amazing dogs for families who value companionship, intelligence, and fun. My background in Life Coaching, Neurodiversity support, and HR training strongly influences how I raise and develop emotionally balanced pups. Nurture, structure and calm environments are at the core of our programme.

Q: How do you ensure strong socialisation?

A: Our puppies are raised within our family, of children and adults, plus a full sensory world outdoors. They experience human touch, different voices, new surfaces, water play, car rides, play equipment and nature from early on. This builds adaptable, trusting, confident young dogs ready for family life.

Q: Any exciting new projects?

A: Absolutely. We’re launching Bellawhiff, our own dog friendly natural powder Dry Shampoo. It’s perfect for freshening your dog between baths and aligns beautifully with our focus on natural, thoughtful dog care.

Q: How can families apply for a Bellawai puppy?

A: We have several litters each year, so spaces are limited. Families can join our waiting list and we’ll discuss preferences for coat, temperament, and generation type. We offer online and phone-call consultations and provide lifelong support because our relationship doesn’t end when a puppy goes home.

Q: Any final thoughts for dog lovers?

A: Goldendoodles and Golden Retrievers are deeply loyal, intuitive companions. They flourish with positive reinforcement, gentle leadership, and family involvement. At Bellawai, we nurture puppies with care, science, and heart, believing that a confident start creates a lifetime of love.

THE GABLES

New Zealand’s Historic Dining Treasure

If it’s been a while since you’ve visited The Gables, prepare to fall in love all over again. As New Zealand’s oldest operating restaurant, The Gables remains truly special - a sophisticated osteria and enoteca that lovingly honors its heritage while embracing a fresh, approachable Italian direction.

Stepping into this Historic Places-listed gem feels like discovering a beautiful secret. Famously built in 1847 on whale bone foundations, the charmingly crooked beams and sloping kauri floors tell tales of its colourful past - once a bakehouse and bordello, now one of the North’s top dining destinations.

The menu reads like a love letter to local producers, showcasing sustainable seafood and farm-fresh local ingredients that transform classic Italian techniques into dishes with a distinctly regional character. Orongo Bay oysters, house-made focaccia, and perfectly crisp arancini share the table with locally caught whole fish and daily handmade pasta from the talented chefs. The food is a seamless blend of classic and contemporary - there’s something for everyone and it’s all delicious.

The wine selection, curated by two top sommeliers, features exceptional Northland producers, boutique New Zealand favorites, and thoughtfully chosen Italian varietals. Throughout summer they operate a cellar door for 144 Islands, offering casual tastings of emerging talent Jake Dromgool’s wines and vermouths. With Italian and local craft beer on tap, there really isn’t any reason not to enjoy a drink or two.

Service is laid-back and personal, but always prompt and professional. Whether you’re sipping Italian-inspired cocktails in the intimate enoteca or dining al fresco as Russell’s famous sunsets paint the harbor, every moment feels special yet wonderfully relaxed.

For first-time visitors, it’s Russell’s essential dining experience. For those with fond memories, it’s an evolution that cherishes the past while embracing an exciting culinary future. The philosophy is simple: showcase the best of the region with creativity, care, and respect for tradition. Family-owned since 1980, The Gables has found its perfect modern expression-generous, uncomplicated, and absolutely delicious. Benvenuti indeed.

TOGETHER WE GROW

Two immigrants with big dreams, bold ideas, and even bigger hearts are quietly redefining the hospitality scene in Northland. Aditya Gupta and Pushpak Diwan, the duo behind Bad Habits and Tipsy Oyster in Paihia and Nauti Penguin in Russell, have done more than create three of the region’s coolest hangouts, they’ve built a story of resilience, creativity, and community connection.

Arriving in New Zealand with little more than ambition and an entrepreneurial spark, Aditya and Pushpak set out to make a life not just for themselves, but for the people around them. Each of their ventures reflects that journey equal parts grit and gratitude with a shared goal of bringing people together over great food, drinks, and conversation.

And then there’s Toddy and Rocky the hands that turn vision into reality. Their skill, detail, and creativity built more than walls and décor. They built atmosphere. They built energy. They built the vibe. Because to the boys, they’re not just business partners, they are family.

We build together. We hustle together. And they mean it when they say: this is a family, not a company.

Their first venture, Tipsy Oyster Tapas and Bar on Paihia’s Marsden Road, quickly became a local favourite. The back-alley-style setting offers global fusion food bursting with flavour from Thai-inspired tapas to Moroccan spices and Mexican zest. Every plate tells a story of cultural connection, while the cocktails, martinis, and mixers keep the atmosphere buzzing. Tipsy Oyster isn’t just fun it’s where travellers and locals blend effortlessly, sharing laughs and stories over perfectly created cocktails and delicious dishes.

Next came Bad Habits, also in Paihia a venue that’s equal parts steakhouse, gin room, cocktail bar, butchery, and deli. With its cool, edgy vibe and top-tier hospitality, Bad Habits celebrates indulgence without apology. Juicy steaks, vegetarian options, flawless drinks, live music, and an in-house butcher’s counter make it an experience like no other.

Across the bay, Nauti Penguin in Russell captures the spirit of a classic Kiwi pub, welcoming, relaxed, and family friendly. With generous plates, a buzzing garden bar, arcade games, pool tables, and live entertainment, it’s the kind of place locals claim as their own.

But Aditya and Pushpak’s story doesn’t stop there. They’re branching out further with Bad Habits spirits, gin, vodka, and rum along with a cultural Bad Habits clothing brand. Both projects share a deeper purpose: breaking stereotypes, celebrating diversity, and giving back to the Northland community that embraced them.

From humble beginnings to hospitality trailblazers, Aditya Gupta and Pushpak Diwan have proven that success isn’t just about what you build, it’s about who you bring with you. And thanks to Toddy, Rocky, and the whole crew, their story continues to unfold in every sip, song, and shared meal, a story as inspiring as it is delicious.

PAN S

A Contemporary Classic Reborn

Beautifully designed tapware is harder to come by than most people realise which is why Zucchetti’s Pan mixer has held its place as a favourite among architects and design lovers for more than two decades. First released in 2004, the original Pan was shaped around a simple idea: a pure, uninterrupted cylinder inspired by the effortless lines found in nature. Designers Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba imagined it like a tree trunk extending into a branch, smooth, seamless and instantly distinctive. It went on to become a global success.

Twenty years later, the story continues with Pan S, a newly launched evolution crafted for today’s bathrooms while staying true to the spirit of the original. Slimmer, more elegant and completely free of visual breaks, Pan S has a fluid, continuous form that feels grown rather than made.

Its profile is soft, modern and beautifully refined. The collection now also includes a three-hole option and a selection of sophisticated new finishes, giving homeowners and designers more freedom to create a look that suits their space. Every piece reflects Zucchetti’s balance of craftsmanship and technical precision.

Available at Robertson Bathrooms, Pan S is a design statement. A timeless blend of form and function, reimagined for the next generation of thoughtfully designed bathrooms.

A SUMMER WITH BOSSI

Summer arrives early on Commerce Street. It slips through Bossi’s open doors on a warm breeze, carrying the scent of basil, slow-simmered tomatoes and something unmistakably nostalgic. At Bossi, the launch of the new summer menu feels less like a seasonal update and more like a celebration, an invitation to slow down, savour, and reconnect with the simple pleasures of good Italian cooking.

Owner Jenna Carter calls this year’s dishes “a return to everything people love about Bossi: simplicity, quality and that made-with-love feeling.” Those values shine from the first forkful of the hand-rolled Gnocchi Napoli, pillowy-soft and tossed in a bright, velvety tomato sauce that tastes like it was cooked under the Sicilian sun. It’s comfort food elevated, summery, but deeply grounding.

The White Bolognese, Bossi’s authentic northern Italian bianco ragù, brings a different kind of warmth. Slow-cooked with care, it’s rich without being heavy, a dish that reveals more flavour with every bite. Alongside it, the Cotoletta Piccata arrives at the table golden and crisp, its lemony gloss catching the light. It is the sort of dish that reminds you how magical simple ingredients can be when they’re treated with devotion.

But summer at Bossi isn’t only about what’s on the plate it’s also about how the restaurant gathers people together. The golden hour settles over Commerce Street as guests sip, snack and enjoy a taste of Mediterranean ease right in the centre of the city. As the sun dips between the buildings, the energy shifts into something breezy and playful.

Office workers unwind, friends reunite, and passers-by are drawn in by the music drifting onto the street. Bossi feels like a small slice of Italian summer in Auckland unfussy, joyful, and made to be shared.

Whether you’re settling in for a long dinner with the full summer menu, or stopping by for a spritz and slice on a Friday evening, Bossi offers something rare: a place where the season is not just tasted, but truly felt.

THE CLARK ESTATE STORY

In2026, Clark Estate celebrates its 25th harvest, a milestone that marks a journey of passion, perseverance, and family. Based in Marlborough’s rugged Awatere Valley, the boutique winery began as little more than a sheep paddock and a big dream.

After long careers Peter as a soldier and Jane as a nurse, the couple bought a piece of land by the Black Birch Stream and planted 20 acres of Sauvignon Blanc from scratch. From 1999 to 2002, they taught themselves how to manage a vineyard. Peter worked in Wellington during the week, while Jane trained all 22,000 vines herself. They spent weekends on the land, sleeping in an old caravan. It was a tough, hands-on beginning.

Disaster came in 2003 when a late frost destroyed their entire crop. With no grape income and rising costs, they faced the very real possibility of giving up. But that same year, their son Simon joined the business, bringing fresh energy, a winemaking degree, and experience from vintages in Australia, Germany, and New Zealand.

Over the next few years, the family added Pinot Gris and Riesling, installed frost fans, and moved an old villa from Blenheim onto the vineyard. They achieved Sustainable Winegrowing NZ accreditation and made the vineyard their full-time home.

The team continued to grow when daughter Sarah joined in sales and marketing, handling logistics and helping push the brand forward. By 2007, Clark Estate was bottling all their wine under their own label, 12,000 cases with markets in New Zealand, the USA, and Australia.

Simon took the reins as Head Winemaker, and the results soon showed. Their 2010 Sauvignon Blanc earned an Elite Gold Medal at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards. In 2011, their Riesling won Best in Show at the Royal Easter Wine Show. More golds followed for the 2013 and 2014 Sauvignon Blancs.

Today, Clark Estate is a proudly family-owned winery known for vibrant, expressive wines that reflect their unique corner of New Zealand. From frostbitten beginnings to national awards and export success, their story is one of vision, resilience, and love for the land.

As they toast their 25th harvest, the Clark family looks forward to the future still hands-on, still family-run, and still committed to crafting wines of integrity and charm.

ECOVASK

The Beautiful Beginning of Better Everyday Living

Great ideas often start with small, ordinary moments. For Ecovask founder Viv, it all began with a single dishcloth. After finishing her kitchen renovation, a visiting friend not so subtly pointed out the obvious - the dishcloth had seen better days and didn’t belong in the newly renovated space.

That moment set her searching for something better. In 2016, she discovered a finely knitted cotton cloth used throughout Scandinavia. Absorbent, durable, soft, and stylish - it was everything our synthetic supermarket basics weren’t. It marked the beginning of Ecovask and a mission to rethink the synthetic textiles woven into our daily routines. What began with a single dishcloth has grown into a thoughtful suite of beautifully made, eco-conscious household staples designed to last and crafted to be seen.

Ecovask tackles the little nuisances we all know too well: smelly cloths, tea towels that never dry, single-use cotton pads, plastic loofahs, microfibre hair towels… the list goes on. Each product is made from certified organic cotton, coloured with non-toxic dyes, and fully biodegradablecreating a home experience that feels good and does good.

Their dishcloths remain the hero, beloved for their absorbency, durability and ability to clean everything from stainless steel to stone to glass without leaving streaks. But beyond performance, Ecovask celebrates colour - curated collections ranging from calming neutrals to vibrant hues that elevate even the simplest daily routines. Ecovask isn’t just about cleaning. It’s about conscious living, thoughtful design, and transforming everyday essentials into something joyful, sustainable, and undeniably stylish. A simple dishcloth started it. A better way of living continues it.

Ponsonby Continues to Ignite Auckland’s Dining Scene:

Where Latin America Meets Japan by Celebrated Chef Nic Watt

When INCA Ponsonby opened its doors at Ponsonby Central, the neighbourhood’s vibrant dining scene found its newest star, a fiery fusion of South American soul and Japanese precision, brought to life by acclaimed chef Nic Watt.

Nearly 3 years on INCA Ponsonby bold & beautiful space continues lure and attract Aucklanders to the dynamic energy of Nikkei cuisine, where Latin America meets Asia in a beautiful collision of flavour, craft, and culture.

Set on Richmond Road, within Ponsonby Central, INCA Ponsonby has quickly become the jewel of newly expanded precinct. Guests enter through a striking laneway connecting the restaurant and are immediately drawn into an atmosphere that hums with warmth, rhythm, and style.

The design, created in collaboration with CTRL Space, reflects Watt’s signature attention to detail. An open-plan dining room centres around a dramatic hearth, glowing like the heart of the experience. Pink marble, cave wall-inspired plaster, and woven textures that echo the vibrant textile crafts of Peru give the space a rich, tactile feel, a perfect backdrop for what unfolds at the table.

Flavours That Tell a Story

The menu celebrates the ancient connection between Peru and Japan, elevated by Watt’s mastery and creativity.

Guests have delighted in INCA’s iconic favourites, like the Pacifica kingfish ceviche with coconut, coriander and aji chilli, alongside the freshest INCA style guacamole made table side and new showstoppers such as black cod marinated in anticucho miso, cooked over coffee charcoal embers and served with ancho chilli daikon, and the chorizo-spiced kurobuta pork gyoza with black vinegar and toasted sesame. It’s food that’s as layered as it is lively, every bite balancing heat, citrus, umami, and precision. As Watt puts it, “INCA is where Latin America meets Asia — a beautiful collision of culture, flavour, and fire.”

The drinks menu continues the journey. Guests can sip signature pisco sours and margarita list no less than 10 of the best margs in Auckland or choose from an extensive wine list curated to complement the restaurant’s bold, bright flavour palette.

A Vision Realised

For Nic Watt, INCA Ponsonby marked not just another restaurant opening, but the evolution of a vision years in the making.

“As soon as I saw the site at Ponsonby Central, I knew it was perfect,” Watt said. “With its open floor plan, high ceilings, natural light and al fresco seating — it ticked all the boxes. I just had to make it happen.”

The restaurant joins Watt’s acclaimed portfolio including MASU by Nic Watt at SKYCITY, CĀNTĪNG Restaurant in Commercial Bay, further cementing his reputation as one of New Zealand’s most creative and accomplished culinary minds.

A Dining Experience to Remember

SIP DISTILLING

Craft, Creativity and the Rise of New Zealand’s Shimmer Gin

SIPDistilling has captured attention with its bold creativity, local ethos, and the launch of New Zealand’s first-ever shimmer gin. Director and Main Distiller Caci Erasmus shares how the idea was born, the values driving the brand, and where she sees the future of craft gin heading.

The idea for a shimmering gin began with a moment of curiosity for Caci Erasmus. She’d always been drawn to the magic of drink-making, the way light moves through a glass or how a small detail can transform the experience. After seeing shimmer used in an unexpected context, she wondered, why couldn’t a spirit feel as enchanting as it tastes?

That question became the spark behind what would eventually become SIP. Caci began experimenting at home, blending botanicals with natural shimmer combinations to find the right balance. The goal was never just to create something visually striking, but to make sure the shimmer supported the gin’s character and craft. After countless test batches and late nights refining the formula, she finally held the first finished bottle: clear, flavour-balanced, and swirling with mesmerising shimmer. It was a moment that made the long process worthwhile. Sustainability has been at the heart of SIP from day one. Rather than being an add-on, it shaped how the gin was conceived.

Caci works closely with local growers who share her commitment to quality and responsible production. Knowing exactly where each botanical comes from and how it’s harvested brings both integrity and vibrancy to the final spirit. Supporting local isn’t simply a value, it’s a flavour advantage. Looking ahead, Caci sees the New Zealand craft-gin landscape flourishing. Drinkers are increasingly drawn to spirits with personality, provenance, and story; something small distillers like SIP are uniquely placed to offer. But with growth comes competition. Standing out amid a crowded market is one of the biggest challenges, demanding constant creativity, connection, and authenticity.

There’s also growing international interest in New Zealand spirits, offering exciting export potential alongside the practical complexities of scaling. And as consumers place greater importance on sustainability and transparency, brands must work harder to deliver both quality and ethical practice. For SIP, the opportunity is clear: keep crafting with intention, stay playful, stay local, and continue to bottle a little bit of New Zealand magic.

Kia EV4 Makes the 2026 Car of the Year Shortlist

Kia is proving once again that electric driving isn’t just the future, it’s already winning. The all-new Kia EV4 has just been shortlisted for the 2026 Car of the Year (COTY) award, placing it among the top seven cars in Europe and marking Kia’s fifth consecutive finalist spot. That’s a remarkable run for a brand that has shifted from challenger to serious EV leader in under a decade.

Designed in Europe, for Europe, the EV4 is Kia’s first fully electric model to be manufactured on European soil. With up to 633km of range, ultra-aerodynamic styling, and fast-charge capability from 10–80% in around 30 minutes, the EV4 gives drivers efficiency without compromise whether they choose the sleek hatchback or the streamlined fastback body.

Under the surface, engineers have tuned the chassis for confident cornering and long-distance comfort, backed by Kia’s rapidly expanding network of over one million public charging points across Europe. Inside, the EV4 pushes the brand’s “Opposites United” design language into a tech-rich cockpit, featuring over-the-air updates, Digital Key 2 access, and seamless app connectivity.

From the EV6’s win in 2022 to the EV9 and EV3 that followed, Kia isn’t just entering the EV conversation, it’s shaping it. The EV4 could be next.

The winner will be announced in January 2026. Stay charged.

A Century of Grandeur

To mark 100 years of the world’s most legendary luxury car, Rolls-Royce has revealed its most ambitious creation yet the Phantom Centenary Private Collection, a limited run of just 25 ultra-bespoke Phantoms that serve as rolling works of art. Three years in the making, the project brings together the brand’s most skilled designers, engineers, and craftspeople to celebrate a century of Phantom owners, journeys, and design milestones. Every detail tells part of the story: from rear seats stitched with 160,000 couture-style embroidery threads, to front seats laser-etched with hand-sketched heritage illustrations. Even the woodwork debuts three world-first techniques 3D marquetry, 3D ink layering, and 24-carat gold leafing.

Continuing the symbolism, the Spirit of Ecstasy is recast in solid gold, hallmarked in London, and enamelled by hand, a first since 1925. The exterior channels Hollywood golden-age glamour, with a two-tone champagne-infused paint finish containing crushed glass for added iridescence.

Inside, 77 historic Phantom “moments” are expressed through art, textiles, and hidden storytelling details, transforming the cabin into a gallery of automotive history.

A century on, Phantom remains a statement of power, legacy, and craftsmanship. This collection ensures the legend moves into its next 100 years with the same impossible standard it began with.

KIA EV3

The Ultimate Suburban SUV

In a market crowded with SUVs claiming versatility, innovation, and comfort, the Kia EV3 steps forward as a genuine standout, redefining what a suburban SUV should be. Designed for families, commuters, and everyday explorers, the EV3 brings Kia’s signature blend of forward-thinking electric engineering, user-friendly technology, and modern design into a perfectly sized package built for real life.

While Kia continues to make headlines globally, with the Kia EV4 recently shortlisted for the prestigious 2026 Car of the Year award, the EV3 is capturing attention for a different reason. It represents Kia at its most practical and customer-focused. Where the EV4 showcases European-built efficiency and long-range performance, the EV3 brings those same principles home to the suburbs, tailored for the rhythm of daily living.

Compact yet spacious, the EV3 strikes the ideal balance between interior comfort and easy manoeuvrability. It’s designed for the school run, the weekend sports schedule, the grocery dash, and the impromptu road trip; all powered by the quiet confidence of a fully electric drivetrain. With impressive range capability, fast-charging convenience, and Kia's evolving EV platform, the EV3 ensures that suburban driving doesn’t mean sacrificing sustainability or performance.

Inside, the cabin is crafted around seamless technology integration, offering the intuitive interfaces Kia is known for. Over-the-air updates, app-based controls, and smart connectivity features make everyday interactions effortless. It’s a space that feels current and considered, putting digital practicality at the heart of the experience.

Kia’s rise in the electric vehicle market isn’t accidental, it’s a result of consistent innovation and the brand’s dedication to design that works for real people. The EV4’s placement among the top seven cars in Europe for the 2026 COTY shortlist highlights Kia’s global momentum, with its fully electric, Europe-built model boasting up to 633km of range, ultra-aerodynamic styling, and rapid 30-minute charging from 10–80%. As the world waits for the COTY winner to be announced in January 2026, Kia’s influence continues to grow.

For suburban drivers, though, the Kia EV3 is the quiet hero; accessible, stylish, and confidently electric. It’s not just another SUV; it’s the next step in suburban mobility, built for the way people actually live today.

The Heart Foundation puts spotlight on heart attacks in women

“I really didn’t think it was a heart attack. I guess that’s why they call it the ‘silent killer’.”
– Raewyn, heart attack survivor

Raewyn’s heart attack struck right in the middle of doing something she loved. On paper, she would be one of the last people you’d expect to have a horrifying heart event. She knew, even before her attack, just how important it was to look after her heart.

But the sad truth is: this happens to far too many women, all over New Zealand. One minute they’re enjoying their life, and the next it is upturned –or worse, lost altogether.

Heart disease is still the single leading cause of death of Kiwi women. And without the kind support of the New Zealand public, it could continue to take precious lives.

Raewyn had a horrifying experience out on the water when a routine swim became a battle for her life. After gratefully receiving the help of two paddleboarders, her heart event led to a hospital stay.

“I’m not allowed to go out into the deep ocean to swim anymore,” she says. “At least, not until they give me the all-clear. I don’t know if they ever will. I really love swimming and I love the ocean, so it’s taken a bit of adjusting to.”

Raewyn wants to stress that heart attacks can be a silent killer. As she personally encountered, the common warning signs are not always present, and everyone’s experience varies. Getting a heart check-up early can save your life.

“I was 58 when I had my heart attack out on the water,” she says. “And so much could have gone wrong that day but it didn’t. Now I’m keen to make the mos t of my second chance at life.”

The Heart Foundation invests around $4 million every year in life-saving heart research, in hopes of discovering the next big breakthrough. The more research funded, the better that heart disease can be diagnosed, treated, and prevented – stopping families from losing their loved ones too soon.

Dr Devlin says through the Heart Foundation’s membership of the Global Cardiovascular Research Funders Forum (GCRFF), we are currently exploring the most urgent research needs for women’s cardiovascular health which will inform an exciting international research opportunity.

You can help play a role in the fight against heart disease today with a kind gift or by purchasing a Heart Foundation Lottery ticket. Your kindness can go towards vital heart research, specialist training for cardiologists and community programmes that help keep Kiwi hearts healthy.

“We would encourage anyone to buy a ticket.
