aben handbag and accessories are proud to announce the opening of their first flag ship store as part of Auckland Airport’s new retail transformation. The pop-up kiosk is located next to Benefits and Shaky Isle Coffee Co., and will operate for four months. Saben accessories are recognized internationally for their beautiful textual leathers, striking colour palette and exceptional designs. Saben, Auckland Airport and DFS worked in collaboration with shop fit-out specialists Shop FX to design an industrial look for the store. Saben founder and designer Roanne Jacobson believes the design will compliment the product and define the space without detatching it from its environment. Designing a store in a busy international airport comes with some challenging restrictions, but Jacobson and her team took this all in their stride, finding an ideal balance between design and security requirements. “We design better with obstacles put in our way,” says Jacobson, who wanted to create an environment that emphasized their sensory philosophy while allowing the product to “shine through.” The sensory experience is key to Saben’s brand ethos, with each handbag embodying a portable work of art. The brand exemplifies playfulness and creativity, offering high-quality stylish and contemporary accessories. The flagship store offers an exclusive pre-lease of limited styles from Saben’s Winter 15 collection, not available until February next year. The brand’s by-line “YOU LUCKY LUCKY THING” will become a reality for the first 100 customers, who will receive a $69-$149 lucky dip gift with purchase. Saben is now operating alongside other covetable local and international fashion and beauty brands, including the likes of MAC, Benefit, Miu from Prada and Icebreaker, and jewellery brands Karen Walker, Boh Runga and Nick von K. The opening of the latest fashion and beauty brands marks the on-going extension of the Airport’s shopping experience at the international and domestic terminals. Richard Barker, Auckland Airport’s General Manager Retail and Commercial says Saben and other brands are welcome additions to Auckland Airport’s tax-free shopping line-up. “From high quality, exclusive brands to affordable travel essentials, Auckland Airport aims to provide passengers with greater choice as part of their airport shopping experience.” Now that the Saben kiosk is officially open for business, travelers have the option to shop tax free prior to traveling and pick up on departure. Although the kiosk is only set to operate until March 2015, Saben will be continuing an online service long after this date. www.aucklandairport.saben.co.nz
