t’s a sentiment that could well be applied to top cosmetic physician Dr Teresa Cattin and her daughter Leigh. Highly trained in the use of Botox® and cosmetic fillers, Teresa has almost 20 years’ experience in cosmetic medicine, is a past President of the New Zealand College of Appearance Medicine and is regularly invited to speak at international conferences. Leigh, a trained nurse, is now in her third year of medical training and is planning to follow in her mother’s footsteps with a career in family medicine and appearance medicine. Both of them work at Teresa’s highly regarded clinic FaceWorks, on Auckland’s Apollo Drive. Leigh, who has a particular interest in Botox® and lip enhancements for younger patients, has already developed her own loyal following.

“With younger patients, it’s not about softening age-related changes on the face, but about carefully enhancing the client’s natural beauty,” the 29-year-old says. “Sometimes a lip may be slightly too thin or asymmetrical, and a very small amount of product can make all the difference in a way that is not at all obvious.” Says Teresa: “There is increasing evidence that tiny amounts of Botox® given regularly and started at the right time can actually prevent very deep lines from forming. “Deep lines aren’t necessarily a result of age at all. They can be a family trait, which actually starts at a younger age. Botox® controls the development of these family traits beautifully.” Both women are passionate about the French approach to appearance medicine known as La French Touche. The French believe very small amounts of Botox® should be used on carefully selected areas of the face to soften and refresh rather than significantly change facial features. The results are naturally beautiful.
