President’s Message

This issue of the 2021-2022 President’s Report features the year school classes and activities were back to normal — with no hybrid learning. It was a true joy to witness hallways and courtyards teeming with conversations and laughter and classrooms filled with students full of a zest for learning.

Xavier College Preparatory provides an environment of growth for young women of faith and character to pursue the highest standards of academic excellence. We believe every student is unique, possessing individual talents and gifts that contribute to the strength of our entire community.

Of course, Catholic identity is key to all we do. It is the heart of Xavier, and the shared experience of faith and a commitment to service develops care and appreciation of the value of humanity. It is also what draws us together as a community.

Educating the whole person — intellectually, spiritually, artistically, and physically — is our goal.

We now approach our eightieth year of instruction — challenging and inspiring young women who go on to make their own distinctive mark on the world. We call it The Xavier Effect.

Xavier Alumnae prominently illustrate The Xavier Effect and are featured in this Report.

In this school year (2020-2021), as in all years, it is the Xavier community of students, parents, teachers, administrators, staff, and donors who advance the pursuit of excellence, celebrating unity and promoting The Xavier Effect.

Thank you for all you do. Peace and God bless you,

ALUMNAE MAKE THE WORLD

A B ET TER PLACE

Why Choose an All-Girls’ School?

Young women take center stage at Xavier. They learn there are no limits to life’s possibilities. In a girls’ school, their voices are always heard. The young women who graduate from Xavier are more confident than those from coed schools. They are not afraid to confront problems or express their ideas both inside and outside the classroom.

A 2009 UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies report, commissioned by the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools (NCGS), found that graduates of single-sex high schools demonstrate stronger academic engagement, higher SAT scores, and greater confidence in math ability and computer literacy than those attending coed schools.

At Xavier, every leadership role is held by young women. Every club officer, team captain, editor, Student Ambassador, and Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist are all women. Female role models are all around. Women hold key administrative positions and alumnae connect with students as faculty members, coaches, and keynote speakers.

A Xavier graduate has memories and friendships for a lifetime. She leaves Xavier with an education rooted in faith that has prepared her to lead, to question, to continue to grow and learn, and to serve.

HERITAGE CIRCLE

Michele and Stash Jarocki are members of Xavier’s Heritage Circle but their story of support for Xavier is different than most. You see, they didn’t have ties to Xavier until later in life as they both grew up on the east coast but attended schools like Xavier and Brophy. Michele attended St. Angela’s Hall in Brooklyn and Stash attended Seton Hall Prep in New Jersey.

Michele has fond memories of her days there with her approximately 100 diverse classmates. “St. Angela’s Hall saved me. That school and those teachers saved me,” she said as she talked about her life-changing educational experience, and it was that experience that fed her desire to find a Catholic girls school in Arizona that they could support after relocating here.

“With the closing of my alma mater years ago, I decided to adopt a similar school that I could support here in Arizona.” Not only are Michele and Stash members of Xavier’s Mother Mary Frances Clarke Heritage Circle, they are also generous and consistent annual giving supporters.

If you have named Xavier in your estate plans, or would like to do the same, please contact Curtis Bruggman, Director of Legacy Giving, at cbruggman@xcp.org or 602-240-3133 so you can be included in Xavier’s Heritage Circle.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT 2021-2022

YOU MAKE IT POSSIBLE

One of our goals at Xavier College Preparatory is to educate any young woman who qualifies for admission to Xavier, regardless of her economic status or ability to pay. Now, more than 45% of students receive some type of financial aid. But we do not wish to turn anyone away because of their inability to pay tuition.

In fact, we admit students from all across The Valley— representing 115 zip codes and coming from 125 different feeder schools.

Our donors ensure we can enroll all qualified students. Since our major capital campaign is paid off, the majority of all donations go directly to Xavier’s scholarship fund.

Xavier continues to graduate young women of faith who become leaders in their own right. More than 14,000 young women have graduated from Xavier since its founding in 1943. Alumnae across the world serve on company boards, head nonprofits, heal patients, create new medicines, sing in operas, start new companies, teach children, help the underserved, and raise families.

It’s easy to give the gift of education.

Simply redirect your Arizona state tax liability, (the amount you are required to pay the state of Arizona) for the current tax year to Catholic Education Arizona (CEA) — max limits apply.

You can even redirect your corporation or LLC’s Arizona state tax liability to Catholic Education Arizona (CEA) — no max limits.

The Corporate Tax Credit through CEA provides tuition assistance to XCP families with the greatest financial need.

The Individual Tax Credit through CEA helps families who find themselves having a tough time making ends meet.

For additional information about the tax credit or donating to Xavier College Preparatory, contact:
