After a heavy defeat against the league leaders, the Under 14s made a great recovery to bounce back immediately against Sidmouth.

The young Seasiders took control of the first half and held on to a 1-0 lead at half time through a left wing combination of Charlie West and Will Petrie with a calm finish by Callum Whitehead Donnison.

Sidmouth regrouped in the second half and recovered well to equalise, and then seized their opportunities to score two quick goals.

Lyme kept battling and Jenson Riding converted a penalty towards the end of the game, but there was insufcient time or opportunity to score the equaliser that would have reflected the balance of play.

UNDER 11s

The Under 11s took to the road for a short trip to Broadclyst. The game started with a fast pace and we were soon 2-0 down but the boys held their heads high and soon got back in to the game with a strike from Will West which found the back of the net to make it 2-1

Broadclyst quickly got back on the attack and regained their two-goal lead with end-to-end action. The little Seasiders had Broadclyst rattled with Finley Toates being brought down in the box. Up steps Josh Fowler to take the spot kick but his efort struck the crossbar. Our boys soon pounced with Will West getting it over the line 3-2. The second half didn’t go our way with the home side slotting home four more with the game finishing 7-2 to an unbeaten Broadclyst.

All the boys showed great heart by never giving up, just being very unlucky on the day. The Broadclyst manager said we were the toughest game to date.

Man-of-the-match went to Josh Fowler for dropping back from his forward position to a holding midfielder and showing his strength.

This weekend we travel to Sidmouth town youth for a postponed fixture.
