THE PLANNING BEGINS! FESTIVAL

THE club’s main fundraising event, the annual sausage and cider festival, has established itself as one of the most popular early summer attractions in Lyme Regis.

Last year the festival attracted more than 1,000 people, raising around £10,000 for club funds. The five festivals to date have brought in excess of £30,000 to help finance the running costs at the Davey Fort.

A huge amount of efort goes into the organising of the event with a small committee led by chairman and vice-chairman Gerard Hitchcock and Francesca Evans.

More than 30 local ciders are on ofer at the festival as well as a full bar with a programme of music from local bands and solo performers. Other attractions include a Pimms and Prosecco tent , a sausage barbecue and a bouncy castle for the kids.

The ciders are sourced by Adrian Wood who, it is rumoured, tests all the various flavours personally before recommending them!

Months of planning go into the organising the event with the subcommittee having met this week to kickof the arrangements.

This year’s festival takes place on Saturday, July 8 and will run from 2pm to 11pm. Entry is by purchase of a festival glass for £3.

The club will be looking for sponsors and assistance from club members and supporters to help with the erection of marquees prior to the event and on the day.
