The Spirit of LVS Ascot Awards
Celebrating outstanding achievements 2024-25

Celebrating outstanding achievements 2024-25
Welcome to our 2025 Spirit of LVS Ascot Prize Giving Ceremonies – an annual celebration of all that makes our school exceptional. Whether you are joining us for our Infant and Junior School Celebration Day or our Senior School President’s Day, today is about recognising the achievements, character, and growth of every pupil.
Education has always evolved through challenge – and in the past year, our sector has faced some of the most significant tests in recent memory. As political discourse intensifies around the role of independent schools, and financial and regulatory pressures mount, our responsibility as a forward-thinking school has never been clearer.
At LVS Ascot, we have responded not with caution, but with confidence. We continue to strengthen our core academic offer, champion innovation, and lead in entrepreneurship and future-focused learning. Whether through our Flying School initiative, our integrated digital and AI strategy, or our commitment to character education and wellbeing, we are preparing our pupils not only for exams, but for life.
We go from strength to strength because we are guided by a clear purpose – and at the centre of that purpose is happiness. Happy children are curious, courageous, and creative. They are open to change, resilient in challenge, and proud of who they are becoming.
Today, we celebrate them. We recognise their success, applaud their effort, and thank the families, staff, and governors who walk alongside them.
Above all, we stand – together – #ProudToBeLVSAscot
Christine Cunniffe BA (Hons) MMus MBA School Principal
It’s a real pleasure to welcome you to President’s Day at LVS Ascot — one of the highlights of our school year, and a chance to come together to recognise everything our pupils have achieved.
Over the past year, we’ve seen our young people grow in confidence, courage, and kindness. Whether through academic success, sporting achievements, creative talents, or small everyday moments of determination, they continue to make us proud.
I feel very lucky to serve as Chair of Governors and to be part of a school community that doesn’t stand still. There’s always more to aim for – and yet we never lose sight of who we are or what really matters.
Thank you to our brilliant staff for their hard work, care, and commitment. And thank you to you – parents, grandparents, and friends – for everything you do to support your children and our school.
So let’s enjoy this day together, and celebrate all that’s been accomplished. It’s well deserved.
Toby Brett Chair of Governors, LVS Ascot
Our PTFA works openly, inclusively, and sustainably to enrich the experience of children attending LVS Ascot. Brought together by this common goal, we have fun doing it and we make new friends along the way!
Our PTFA members are volunteers who commit their skills and time to fundraising and school social events, including a family inflatables day, disco, Easter hunt, Christmas raffle and our annual visit from Santa.
PTFA funds contribute to school projects which are not already covered in the budget. Following last year’s success, we were delighted to support the school’s Esports strategy this year, allocating over £15,000. Launching the Esports Lab will extend academic provision for gaming, coding and AI across a range of subjects, exposing students to the latest technology, and keeping LVS Ascot at the forefront of innovation in the independent school sector.
Our charitable objective to enrich the experience of LVS pupils is underpinned by our principles of sustainability, inclusivity, and local community. Doing our bit towards a sustainable future means we make conscious choices in the use and re-use of materials, and we promote fundraising through donating second-hand clothes in our collections. This year, with special thanks to Mrs Robinson, we saw the arrival of the Little Recyclers clothing bank, making it even easier to recycle your preloved clothes and raise money for school.
Our second-hand uniform shop has gone from strength to strength. Offering cheaper, more sustainable options for buying uniforms, it has been our greatest single source of funds raised – £4,500 so far this year. Thank you to our generous donors and to everyone who chooses to buy from us. You can continue to get in touch for uniform online at uniform@lvsascotptfa.org.
As a registered charity, our proper governance and constitution are critical to our success. The core PTFA committee meets fortnightly, and we hold official termly committee meetings and an AGM where all members are welcome. For further information, you’ll find us on Classlist or you can contact us at hello@lvsascotptfa.org.
We would be thrilled to welcome new members, so please join us if you would like to be part of the community!

Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer
Guide me, O thou great Redeemer, Pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but thou art mighty, Hold me with thy powerful hand: Bread of Heaven, Bread of Heaven,
Feed me till I want no more
Feed me till I want no more.
Open now the crystal fountain
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through:
Strong deliverer, Strong deliverer, Be thou still my strength and shield
Be thou still my strength and shield.
When I tread the verge of Jordan, Bid my anxious fears subside; Death of death, and hell’s destruction
Land me safe on Canaan’s side:
Songs of praises
Songs of praises
I will ever give to thee
I will ever give to thee.
Music by J. Hughes / Text translated by P. Williams
• Address by Infant and Junior School Heads of School, Gemma Charles and Agrim Rai
• Hymn: ‘Jerusalem’
• Closing remarks and prayer: Principal Christine Cunniffe and Chairman of the Licensed Trade Charity, Ludovick Halik
• National Anthem
Jerusalem
And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England’s mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England’s pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark satanic mills?
Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight, Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand, Till we have built Jerusalem
In England’s green and pleasant land.
Music by C. H. H. Parry / Text by W. Blake

I Vow to Thee My Country
I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above, Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love:
The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test, That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best; The love that never falters, the love that pays the price, The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.
And there’s another country, I’ve heard of long ago, Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know; We may not count her armies; we may not see her King; Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase, And her ways are ways of gentleness and all her paths are peace.

This year, sport at LVS Ascot has continued to flourish across all areas of the school. Pupils have shown impressive teamwork, perseverance, and camaraderie, all whilst developing their own individual talents and contributing to an exceptional year of sporting success.
In the Infant and Junior School, nearly every pupil from Years 3–6 has taken part in competitive fixtures across a wide range of sports, including football, rugby, netball, hockey, cricket, athletics, and cross country. Year 2 pupils also had a memorable introduction to competition, taking part in their first local friendlies.
A major highlight of the year was the Junior School sports tour to Manchester, where pupils experienced elite-level coaching in both football and hockey. The footballers trained with Manchester City coaches, while the hockey players benefited from expert sessions with top-level club coaches, an exciting and inspiring experience for all involved.
Among the many fixtures and tournaments, one of the standout achievements was the U11 boys finishing as runners-up in the ISA National Football Cup, an incredible result on a national stage. Pupils also proudly represented the school in regular fixtures, tournaments and interschool competitions, demonstrating great enthusiasm throughout the year.
Senior School pupils across all age groups have taken part in ISA national tournaments, county tournaments and leagues in sports such as football, basketball, cricket, athletics, netball, hockey, and rugby, as well as numerous friendly matches.
The hockey programme delivered several standout moments, with the U14 girls crowned Berkshire Plate champions and the U15 girls achieving an extraordinary unbeaten run to win the Berkshire Cup, without conceding a single goal. On the boys’ side, the U13s secured gold in the ISA National Trophy and the Berkshire Plate, while the U12 boys, in their first senior tournament, finished runners-up in the Berkshire Finals.
Football has also enjoyed a remarkable year, marked by a wealth of fixtures across the boys and girls teams and notable team achievements. The highlight was the U15s’ impressive run to the ISFA National Trophy Final, where they delivered a valiant performance to finish as runners-up.
Swimming remains a major strength, with excellent performances at the ISA National Finals at the London Aquatic Centre. Highlights included a bronze medal in the 4x50m medley relay for Pippa Stewart and an individual national title for Joseph Mottram in the 200m individual medley. Sofia Clark won national gold in the 4 x 50m.
freestyle relay and national silver in the 50m backstroke, also achieving a personal best.
Cross country athletes continued to shine on the national stage. At the ISA National Championships in Leicester, Amber Hamilton-Martin and Evan McGrail competed a year up and still placed 5th, while Maisie and Rosie Gordge finished 9th and 12th respectively. Promising signs for the future of endurance running at LVS Ascot.
A football and hockey tour to Valencia in February for Years 10–13 provided high quality coaching from academy professionals and included cultural excursions into the city. Meanwhile, the second annual Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity Fun Run raised over £600. Other notable achievements include league victories for the U16 and U18 basketball teams, a strong showing from the U12 boys’ rugby team at the Berkshire Rugby Festival and the U18 girls netball team winning all but two matches in a solid season.
We’d like to thank everyone who has contributed to our vibrant sporting community, including our dedicated pupils, supportive parents, committed staff, and the hardworking grounds team. Have a well-deserved, and restful summer, and we look forward to seeing you back on the pitches next academic year.
This academic year has been another exceptional one for the Performing Arts Department, marked by achievement, creativity, and collaboration across all year groups.
We began the Autumn Term with the Woking Music Festival, where our students earned excellent results, including many first-place finishes. Our A Cappella group won The Pace Challenge Cup for the highest choral mark and later received the prestigious Rose Bowl Award as the festival’s top-performing group.
Highly Able students enjoyed a trip to see Wicked, including a pre-show workshop and post-show Q&A with the cast. The term culminated in our ambitious production of Grease, featuring students from Year 7 to Year 13. The energy, professionalism, and enthusiasm throughout the cast and crew were outstanding. Recognised with eight nominations from the National Schools Theatre Awards, the show was praised as ‘nothing short of superb!’ It embodied the teamwork and passion that define our department. We closed the term with our traditional Christmas Carol Service, featuring performances from all five choir ensembles –a festive and heartwarming end to the year.
In the Spring Term, our A Cappella group continued to shine, taking first place in the KS4/5 category at the ISA A Cappella Competition with the highest score the judges have ever awarded. At the Woodley Festival, many students earned honours marks. Special mention goes to Sonya (Year 11) for the top Musical Theatre score, and to Sasha (Year 7) and Amelie (Year 8) for the highest Solo Acting mark. We entered two performances into the ISA Drama competition and are thrilled to have achieved Best Middle Production for our Year 9 performance of Girls Like That and Convincing Character award for Sophie playing Sandy in Grease performed by Year 11.
Our dancers excelled at the Tone and Poise Dance Competition, placing in every entered category. Special trophies went to Darcey (Year 2) and the Year 9 group as Rising Stars, and Kyrah (Year 7) as Judges’ Choice. Our inhouse competitions celebrated talent across disciplines: Erin (Year 9) was named Young Singer of the Year, Shay (Year 10) Young Musician, Jack (Year 11) Young Actor, Freya (Year 6) Young Dancer, and Addy (Year 10) Young Choreographer. House Performing Arts was a joyful celebration of 1980s performance, with Kennington-Hart taking the trophy for an original piece. Our Highly Able dancers expanded their skills in an aerial workshop and enjoyed a visit to the Move It Dance Convention in London.
In the Summer Term, student talent continued to shine. Rosie (Year 11) was selected to perform at the New Wimbledon Theatre in the Stars of Tomorrow showcase, recognising her vocal excellence. Sonya (Year 11) earned 2nd place in the ISA Shakespeare Monologue competition with an original piece. Our students worked with dedication and creativity in the ISA Band and Composer competitions where we came first in the ISA Band KS4/5 category.
The Year 3 - 6 production of Beauty and the Beast brought joy and colour to the stage, while our 24 Hour Musical event showcased spontaneity and generosity – raising funds while producing a full show in just one day. Our annual Performing Arts Marathon featured eight hours of continuous performances from Reception to Year 13. We concluded the year with our Performing Arts Dinner which was a fitting finale to a year filled with passion, progress, and pride across the Performing Arts Department.
We are proud that our LVS Ascot community run charity events and House charity days throughout each year. Our students not only come up with innovative fundraising ideas, but they also volunteer to help raise the moneywhether that be by singing, baking, selling, dressing-up, creating posters or even making funky conker creatures. We are delighted to have our very own clothing bank on site, which has proved very popular with our school and parent community. This has currently been getting emptied every two weeks due to demand, which we hope to maintain for additional PTFA fundraising. A great way
of not only being more sustainable as a school but being able to purchase those special extras that make the quality of our pupils’ time at LVS Ascot even more enjoyable. We are always humbled by the generosity of our school family of pupils, parents and staff, who always support these events financially and with enthusiasm, and this year has been no exception. We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for getting involved.
Georgia and Abigail are two Sixth Form students who have been at LVS Ascot since Reception and are now in Year 13 completing their final A-Level exams. Our teaching staff have watched them grow from small girls into the young adults that they are today. Abigail said, ‘My greatest achievement has been completing all three Duke of Edinburgh Awards,’ and Georgia gave her thanks to the school, ‘Thank you for shaping who I am,’ she said, ‘I’ll always carry a piece of LVS Ascot with me.’
The WoW Group provides an opportunity for LVS Ascot parents, teachers, career advisors, and other staff to network and discuss the changing professional environment and how we can better prepare our students for the world of work. We tap into the breadth of business experience of our parent body to not only support our children, but to support each other as business peers. The WoW Group is open to any LVS Ascot Junior or Senior school parents & guardians with business experience who want to contribute and network with others in the LVS Ascot community bridging the gap between education and careers. If you are interested in joining the group and attending either the WoW Morning Business Networking Events or WoW Committee Evening Events, please email claire.gedge@lvs.ascot.sch.uk
LVS Ascot is very proud to help give students the best start to life and better prospects for future careers, and we encourage them to stay in touch with us and let us know what they are doing. By registering for our alumni network, former students can advertise their skills and professional services to other alumni members, providing excellent networking opportunities. LVS Ascot also hosts an annual alumni event or school reunion allowing past students to come back and see the school, meet old school friends and teachers and enjoy relaxed social occasions at the school with the opportunity to network. The LVSingers (Staff-Parent Choir) began in late 2012 with the plan to sing just one song – and it just grew from there! Over the last few years, we have held numerous services and concerts raising many thousands of pounds for charity. You do not have to be able to read music to join – just a willingness to get stuck in and have a go. All the songs are chosen with great care – most very well-known –and cover a range of genres to suit all tastes.
The practice evenings are highly enjoyable – all led by the Principal, Christine Cunniffe – and you never leave without a true sense of satisfaction and inner contentment at the achievement made. The investment of just a little time into this is really worth the enjoyment and true sense of community that it brings. Email claire.gedge@lvs.ascot.sch.uk if you want to know more!
Have you ever listened to our’ Facebook live’ Perspective discussions on our YouTube channel? A series of topical opinion pieces and discussion from people with a stake in education - be they parents, educational professionals or experts interested in the future of education and the wellbeing of this generation of students. Join Christine Cunniffe and her guests and hear relevant and up-to-theminute talks – please visit www.lvs.ascot.sch.uk/information/ perspectives to catch up on past LVS Perspectives.
Residential trips are the highlight of many of our students’ experiences at LVS Ascot. They offer students a chance to learn through realworld experiences by encouraging them to be adventurous, to meet new people and to engage with diverse cultures. Recent trips have included an Australian school exchange, the Rwanda and Kenya adventure, and of course the annual Ski Trip, this year to Passo del Tonale in Italy.
