An overview of our vision and facilities

A rich heritage with a forward-thinking vision

LVS Ascot, owned and operated by the Licensed Trade Charity, has a distinguished history dating back to 1803.

Originally founded to support the children of those working in the licensed trade, the school has evolved into a leading independent co-educational day and boarding institution, welcoming families from diverse backgrounds. Conveniently located just 25 miles from central London and 20 minutes from Heathrow Terminal 5, LVS Ascot offers a unique blend of a tranquil 26-acre campus and easy access to the cultural, academic, and professional opportunities of the capital.

An inclusive, global learning community

LVS Ascot is proudly all-ability and non-selective, catering primarily to local families, while also embracing a dynamic international community representing over 40 nationalities (approximately 27% of the student body).

Our commitment to inclusivity ensures that every child receives a first-class education tailored to their individual strengths, empowering them to excel academically, personally, and socially. Our long-standing Royal patronage since 1836, currently held by King Charles III, reflects our dedication to providing outstanding educational opportunities for all.

Our mission: Transforming lives, unleashing potential

Under the Licensed Trade Charity’s guiding strapline, LVS Ascot’s mission is to exceed expectations and empower students to thrive.

Through our five aims, we deliver our vision to develop leaders for the future:

1. Reflect on the past to embrace the challenges of the future

2. Be resilient, inquisitive, and creative

3. Be happy and healthy

4. Live with empathy and integrity

5. Be courageous, bold, and robust in our endeavours. We measure success through national benchmarking, robust internal tracking systems, and pupil and parent feedback. Our ISI inspection commended our ‘highly effective use of data’ to monitor student progress and well-being

Academic excellence and a holistic approach to learning

LVS Ascot is committed to both academic success and character development.

Our results demonstrate sustained excellence, with A* (9-8) grades rising from 18.9% in 2022 to 26% in 2024, and consistently strong 9-7 grades of around 38% – a remarkable achievement for a non-selective school. Beyond academics, our school fosters personal growth through 346 non-compulsory co-curricular clubs offering 3,178 sessions, with a 78% participation rate this academic year. We are moving towards a super-curriculum that integrates academic rigour, character education, and cultural development.

A future-focused curriculum

Our global outlook ensures that we prepare students for the evolving workforce. By embedding 21st-century skills and the 4Cs – critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration – into our curriculum, we equip students with the tools needed to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

LVS Ascot is a proud ‘High Performance Learning’ school, fostering a growth mindset and advanced cognitive strategies in all students. As a DofE centre, our programme thrives, with the majority of pupils

undertaking the Bronze award and significant numbers progressing to Silver and Gold levels. Our unique IJS Diploma, incorporating Round Square and HPL values, will expand to include a Platinum level for Years 7 and 8 in 2025.

Well-being and student support at the heart

Well-being is integral to our success. Our ISI report noted that ‘pupils feel extremely well supported’, and our data-driven approach ensures early identification of concerns through Cambridge well-being checks and pastoral tracking.

These initiatives enable targeted interventions, ensuring all students receive the care they need. Our third aim, ‘To be happy and healthy,’ is at the core of everything we do.

Innovation and entrepreneurship in education

LVS Ascot is at the forefront of educational innovation. As a Microsoft Showcase School, we are pioneers in AI-powered learning, predictive analytics, and adaptive study pathways, ensuring personalised education for every student.

Our ISI report praised our innovative teaching methods, highlighting that students ‘develop excellent digital literacy skills.’

The COVID-19 pandemic reshaped education, and LVS Ascot responded with an agile, live-adaptive School Development Plan (SDP). This ensures that we continuously evolve to meet the needs of our students and the wider educational sector.

Our leadership has been commended in ISI inspections for being ‘dynamic thinkers who adapt to emerging situations and the evolving needs of their pupils.’ The three-stage lesson observation programme fosters a culture of continuous improvement, where staff, students, and parents thrive together.
