CEO Message I am always being asked: “What is real ‘luxury’?” Expensive, branded products do not adequately represent ‘luxury.’ Luxury is the perfect blend of a ‘unique creation,’ made by a ‘unique artisan,’ serviced in a ‘unique environment’ and presented with a ‘unique savoir-faire.’ The Asian luxury market has grown dramatically in recent decades. Its initial development was heavily focused on quantitative growth. As a result, training in quality of service and nurturing a customer’s emotional experience were not prioritized due to a lack of understanding of ‘luxury.’ Thus, Luxury Business Institute was founded to support luxury brands and professionals in the Asian luxury industry. Using the experiences and expertise of professionals in the European luxury industry, Luxury Business Institute delivers high-quality business consulting and human resource solutions that uniquely serve the Asian luxury market.

Academic Partners Jean-NoĂŤl Kapferer President of LBI Academic Committee. Graduated from HEC Paris, he also holds a Ph.D from Northwestern University, USA. Jean-NoĂŤl Kapferer is the European authority on branding, internationally recognized as one of the most influential brand experts. He is the co-author of The Luxury Strategy (Break the rules of marketing to build luxury brands). Jean-Noel Kapferer is also an active consultant, he is Professor Emeritus at HEC, and is the advisor of the Group INSEEC.U President.

Jean Pierre Boisivon Graduated from IEP Paris, he has a Ph.D of Economics. Among various positions as Board member, Consultant and Top Executives, he is counselor to the Chairman of the FNEGE (French National foundation for education and management), Special Advisor to the President of INSEEC and Emeritus Professor at Paris 2 University in Paris. He directed Evaluation and Forecasting at the Ministry of National Education (1987-1990) in France. He managed during 7 years the ESSEC Group. Jean-Pierre Boisivon is Commander of the Legion of Honour and Knight of the National Order of Merit.

Michel Chevalier Graduated from HEC Paris, he holds an MBA and Doctorate in Marketing from Harvard University, USA. Throughout his Top Executives positions career, Michel Chevalier has especially been for more than 10 years a consultant with EIM in Paris & Shanghai, and a visiting Professor at HEC (Top French business school) and ISML in Paris. He was Executive Vice President of Bluebell Asia Group in Tokyo and Hong Kong. He has co-authored several books including Pro Logo (with G Mazzalovo), and Luxury Retail Management (with Michel Gutsatz).

Alain Brière started at Hilton International in Paris as Head of Sales, then held different positions at Inter-Continental Hotels Group in Paris and was appointed Marketing Regional Director France, Switzerland and Mediterranean. He then joined Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts as VP Sales & Marketing. After 12 years at Le Méridien, he moved to JJW Hotels & Resorts in London as VP Sales & Marketing, then joined Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts as Head of Sales & Marketing (Shanghai–Muscat). In 2007, he was then appointed VP Sales & Marketing at MAF Hospitality (Majid Al Futtaim Group), in Dubaï. Alain Brière was also VP Sales & Marketing for Oetker Hotel Collection, based at Le Bristol Paris.

Cosmetics & Fragrances Vice President

Graduated from “Ecole Superieure de Sciences Commerciales”, Richard Cymberg decided to join L’Oreal. Following various International Top Executive positions within the Group, in different Products divisions, in different countries & across several continents, among them UK, Germany, Brazil, he was appointed President & Executive Director in Korea, before managing Worlwide Travel Retail Division, at L’Oreal Group Head Office.

Retail & Strategy Vice President

After having worked for several years in various companies in France, at Top Executive level, and among them group FNAC in Paris, he joined Korea and was appointed Bluebell Operation Marketing & Development Director. He worked with more than twenty-three brands in Leather goods, Fashion & Cosmetics such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Clarins. Before joining Luxury Business Institute, he acted as Retail Marketing Director at Samsung Electronics in Korea, and as Consumer Director at Lenovo in France.
