As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect on a year that celebrated the transformative power of design, the allure of luxury, and the magic of places that redefine how we experience the world. From architecture and art to fashion and heritage, we have been inspired by stories that challenge conventions, embrace tradition, and offer a glimpse into the future of luxury.

This year, we witnessed the boldness and elegance of Karl Lagerfeld’s latest range of upholstered furniture, where customisable pieces and flowing forms came together to create an aesthetic that is both timeless and contemporary. The influence of Lagerfeld’s visionary spirit continues to resonate, offering a unique perspective on how furniture can shape the spaces we inhabit.

In Abu Dhabi, Aditi Rao Hydari dazzled at Piaget’s “Essence of Extraleganza” gala, where the luxury brand marked 150 years of artistry. The event was a spectacular fusion of heritage and innovation, celebrating Piaget’s iconic history while looking towards the future. As Piaget joined forces with ADIO to redefine luxury in the heart of the Middle East, it underscored the region’s growing prominence on the global stage and its commitment to being a hub for fine art and timeless luxury.

We also explored serene escapes like the Maldives’ Kuda Villingili Resort, where luxury meets adventure in a destination that feels both exclusive and inviting. It’s a place where time and space are redefined, offering a sanctuary for those seeking respite from the demands of daily life. Kuda Villingili’s commitment to sustainable luxury ensures that even the most discerning traveler can experience the best that nature has to offer, while embracing a more mindful approach to the environment.

On the topic of sustainability, Deepika Govind’s journey in transforming traditional textiles into sustainable luxury was nothing short of inspiring. Her approach bridges the gap between timeless craftsmanship and contemporary design, offering a new path for the future of fashion. It’s a story that celebrates both heritage and innovation, reminding us of the impact thoughtful design can have on the world.

Back in the UAE, Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi invited us to experience the perfect blend of Arabian opulence and contemporary design. The hotel, a jewel in the city’s vibrant landscape, offers unparalleled service and luxury. It’s not just a place to stay—it’s an immersive experience that reflects the region’s rich culture while providing guests with world-class amenities and a gateway to the

modern-day allure of Abu Dhabi.

Similarly, Circle Goa stands out as an eclectic haven where art, culture, and conscious living converge. This vibrant space offers a holistic experience for those looking to immerse themselves in a community that values creativity and sustainability. In Goa’s tranquil environment, Circle Goa serves as a reminder that luxury can be rooted in mindfulness and a deep connection to culture and nature.

Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara, an Arabian sanctuary in the heart of the desert, continues to offer a serene escape with an emphasis on understated elegance and timeless beauty. The resort’s blend of traditional Arabian architecture and modern luxury creates a haven that encourages guests to reconnect with the land and their inner selves.

One of the most exciting developments this year has been FCstudio’s stunning tropical designs, including a project in São Paulo that fuses nature, innovation, and luxury. The architecture is a seamless blend of modernist elegance and the natural world, creating spaces that feel both expansive and intimate. It’s a perfect example of how the best of contemporary design can harmonize with its environment.

In Canada, Hâle House in the Laurentians took our breath away with its perfect fusion of architecture and nature. This family retreat feels like a timeless sanctuary, designed to honor legacy while creating new memories for generations to come. Its masterful integration of the surrounding landscape reminds us that luxury isn’t just about opulence—it’s about a deep connection to the natural world.

And finally, Sri Lanka’s Cape Weligama marked a new era of refined elegance with its thoughtful transformation. The resort’s design captures the essence of coastal living while offering every luxury imaginable. It’s a place where sophistication and serenity meet, providing guests with a restorative experience that feels both intimate and expansive.

Looking ahead to 2025, we are filled with anticipation for more stories of innovation, elegance, and timeless luxury. We’re excited to see how these spaces and brands continue to evolve, embracing both the past and the future. As the world of luxury continues to expand and redefine itself, we remain committed to bringing you the stories that inspire and shape this ever-changing landscape.

May the year ahead bring you new experiences, timeless beauty, and endless inspiration. Here’s to a 2025 filled with luxury, creativity, and discovery.

HERITAGE AND INNOVATION

In a glittering celebration of artistry, heritage, and innovation, Piaget marked its 150th anniversary with a spectacular soirée in Abu Dhabi, uniting icons of fashion, film, and design under the gilded domes of the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental. The Swiss Maison, renowned for its Haute Horlogerie and High Jewellery creations, partnered with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) to host The Essence of Extraleganza—a tribute to a legacy of craftsmanship and creative daring that has spanned a century and a half.

Among the luminaries gracing the event was Bollywood royalty Aditi Rao Hydari, whose presence brought an understated elegance to this opulent celebration. Dressed in Piaget’s signature High Jewellery, the Indian actress mesmerized attendees as she joined an elite guest list that included global brand ambassador Apo Nattawin, Gabrielle Caunesil Pozzoli,

and Padmanabh Singh, the Maharaja of Jaipur.

Piaget’s exquisite exhibition was an ode to its ethos— “Always do better than necessary”—showcasing pieces that bridge the Maison’s rich heritage with its bold, modern interpretations of design. Inspired by the artistic freedom of the 1960s and 70s, the collection featured vibrant colours, precious stones, and daring forms, capturing Piaget’s signature blend of audacity and sophistication.

The highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the Maison’s High Jewellery and Watch collection, a breathtaking display of meticulous craftsmanship. Among the standout creations was the Precious Limelight watch, a symphony of diamonds and artistry that adorned Hydari’s wrist as she walked through the exhibition.

“Piaget has always represented the pinnacle of artistry and

heritage,” Hydari shared. “To witness 150 years of such exceptional craftsmanship is truly inspiring. This evening celebrates not just Piaget’s journey but also its timeless elegance and dedication to beauty.”

ABU DHABI: A GLOBAL STAGE FOR LUXURY

This milestone event also underscored Abu Dhabi’s growing prominence as a luxury destination. ADIO’s partnership with Piaget reflects a shared vision for excellence and innovation, positioning the emirate as a hub for global partnerships in fashion, art, and design.

“We are deeply honoured by the trust Abu Dhabi has shown in Piaget,” remarked Benjamin Comar, CEO of Piaget. “Being able to showcase our extraordinary savoir-faire in this magnificent setting is a rare privilege.”

Noura Al Foulathi of Abu Dhabi Retail echoed this sentiment: “The Essence of Extraleganza event underscores our commitment to forging global collaborations that elevate Abu Dhabi as a city of curated luxury.”

AN UNFORGETTABLE EVENING OF ELEGANCE

As the gala dinner unfolded, Piaget’s guests indulged in a feast for the senses. The evening culminated with a dazzling performance by Kool & the Gang, adding a lively crescendo to an event steeped in sophistication and grandeur.

For Piaget, this celebration was not just about looking back on a legacy of 150 years—it was about setting the stage for the future. With its enduring commitment to excellence and creativity, the Maison continues to redefine the boundaries of luxury, one masterpiece at a time.

TIMELESS CRAFT

Deepika Govind’s journey from traditional textiles to sustainable luxury

For over two decades, Deepika Govind has epitomised the fusion of tradition and modernity in Indian fashion. Known for her seamless blending of Eastern craftsmanship with Western construction, she is an iconic figure in the world of luxury fashion. With flagship stores in Gurugram and Bengaluru, her designs stand as a testament to artisanal mastery and eco-conscious luxury. Deepika Govind is not just a designer; she is an innovator, weaving a story of heritage, sustainability, and contemporary elegance into each collection.

ARTISANAL CRAFTSMANSHIP & DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Deepika’s designs are a celebration of the tactile artistry that comes with handwoven textiles. She deeply reveres the ‘sensitive touch of the human hand’ and honours the craftsmanship embedded in every fibre. Her mission is clear: to enliven the inher-

ent value of natural fibres and celebrate the legacy of handwoven textiles. Inspired by the rich cultural tapestry of India—from the vibrant bazaars of Banaras to the exquisite woven fabrics of Bhagalpur—her collections embody both ancient techniques and modern aesthetics. This harmonious blend defines her design ethos.

Her philosophy is rooted in the mantra “Fashion for the EARTH” (Elements, Art, Revolution, Technology, and Human Hand), symbolising her commitment to sustainable and artisanal fashion. A designer deeply committed to environmental responsibility, she embraces sustainable practices and integrates them into the luxury fashion sphere with ease.

MILESTONES & COLLABORATIONS

Since launching her label in 1998, Deepika Govind has garnered numerous accolades and achieved key milestones that have

shaped her career. The opening of her Bengaluru flagship store in 2002 marked the beginning of an expansion into menswear, home furnishings, and interior design. As head design consultant for Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC), she spearheaded the launch of the renowned “Threads of Gold” saree collection—an innovative project using pure gold threads and pushing the boundaries of textile design.

Her collaborations with luxury brands and international entities further reflect her ability to seamlessly merge fashion with technology. From partnering with Salvatore Ferragamo to creating exclusive collections with IBM and DuPont, her versatility has earned her a place in high-profile fashion events and luxury showcases worldwide. Deepika’s designs have graced the launch events of prestigious brands like De Beers Diamonds and Jacob’s Creek, while her association with Swarovski has seen her incorporate their crystals into her haute couture collections.

ACCOLADES & SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES

Deepika Govind’s influence extends beyond the runway. Her contributions to the fashion world have earned her multiple prestigious awards, including the Femina-L’Oréal Woman of Substance Award and the Pride of Karnataka Award in fashion design. As a respected judge on platforms such as Wills India Fashion Week and the National Institute of Fashion Technology, her voice continues to shape the future of Indian fashion.

A staunch advocate of sustainable fashion, she focuses on using natural fibres and eco-friendly materials in her collections. Through her work with master weavers and innova-

tive fabric blends, Deepika has brought forward cutting-edge designs that are both luxurious and mindful of the environment. Her incorporation of organic cotton, Eri silk, and Tencel into her designs demonstrates her dedication to fusing traditional Indian textiles with modern sustainable practices.

FABRIC INNOVATIONS & FUTURE VISION

Deepika’s work with fabric innovations, such as the blend of Tencel and Khadi silk, is revolutionising traditional Indian textiles. This innovative combination has transformed Khadi, a fabric with deep historical significance, into a luxurious, contemporary material that retains its cultural essence while meeting the demands of high fashion. Her collections like ‘Pop Patola’ and ‘Eri the Peace Silk’ showcase her ability to reimagine traditional techniques with a sustainable, modern twist.

Her continued dedication to sustainability extends beyond design, as she explores eco-friendly alternatives to materials such as denim and silk, ensuring that every garment tells a story of innovation and responsibility.

Deepika Govind’s legacy is not just one of artistry and luxury but also transformation. She has redefined the landscape of Indian fashion, creating pieces that are not just garments but narratives woven from the threads of tradition, innovation, and sustainability. Each creation from Deepika Govind serves as a testament to her vision of a more responsible and beautiful future for fashion. As she continues to innovate and inspire, her influence resonates across the global stage, leaving a lasting imprint on the world of luxury fashion.

TROPICAL PARADISE

A stunning fusion of nature, luxury, and innovation from FCstudio

PLACES

Tucked away on Brazil’s tropical coastline, Brisa House stands as a breathtaking example of modern design blending seamlessly with nature. Designed by FCstudio, the house redefines what it means to live with the land, offering expansive panoramic views of the South Atlantic and an immersive living experience that celebrates both innovation and sustainability.

A VISION OF VERTICALITY AND LIGHT

The architectural design of Brisa House is a statement of modern luxury. With its striking vertical structure, the house opens up to the infinite horizon, where large windows and carefully placed balconies offer uninterrupted views of the ocean. Each element of the design is intended to enhance the connection with nature, inviting the residents to experience the sea and surrounding landscapes in their most vivid form.

The interiors are a testament to the artistry of FCstudio,

featuring signature pieces like the Equilíbrio and Libélula tables, which serve not only as functional furniture but as sculptural elements that enhance the home’s aesthetic. The use of natural stone and innovative materials that resist harsh sunlight and salt air ensures both durability and ease of maintenance, making the house as practical as it is beautiful.

ART IN EVERY DETAIL

Brisa House isn’t just a home—it’s an art gallery. One of the standout features of the living space is the Rosso marble wall, which is not only a visual focal point but also showcases a stunning piece by Brazilian artist Bechara. A sliding panel cleverly conceals the TV screen, ensuring the focus remains on the artwork until entertainment is desired. The fireplace, designed for warmth and comfort, adds an extra layer of sophistication, turning this living room into a space for intimate conversations or quiet reflection.

A DINING SPACE THAT DOUBLES AS A WORK OF ART

The gourmet area of Brisa House is a masterclass in design and function. The sink, dry bar, wine coolers, and storage drawers are not just practical but beautifully crafted to reflect the modern aesthetic of the home. It’s a space that invites social gatherings and effortless entertaining, where guests can enjoy both the cuisine and the stunning ocean views that make this home so special.

THE ART OF LIGHT: A DYNAMIC CENTREPIECE

Among the many innovations in Brisa House, the 8-meterlong tensioned canvas light fixture stands out as both a functional and artistic feature. Not merely a source of light, the fixture is designed to change with the day, mimicking the shifting colours of the sunset and adding a dynamic quality to the space. Its ever-evolving beauty mirrors the changing skies

over the Atlantic, creating a living atmosphere that constantly evolves.

A ROOFTOP OASIS WITH AN OCEAN VIEW

Brisa House’s rooftop is a tribute to the ocean that surrounds it. Designed for optimal sea observation, the space is furnished with seating that faces the horizon, allowing residents to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Atlantic in complete comfort. One particularly unique piece in this area is the side table—a genuine ship propeller topped with a glass surface, adding a touch of nautical history to the modern space.

NATURE AND ART IN HARMONY

The garden at Brisa House is home to the Awapé sculpture, created by renowned Brazilian artist Hugo França. This organic piece, with its flowing curves and corten steel base,

PLACES

is seamlessly integrated into the lush vegetation, enhancing the connection between the home and its natural surroundings. The sculpture’s placement within the garden encourages contemplation and reflection, offering a peaceful retreat in the heart of nature.

FURNITURE THAT TELLS A STORY

The furniture at Brisa House is as innovative as the architecture itself. The Equilíbrio table, designed by FCstudio, draws inspiration from the fluidity and grace of a ballerina’s movement. The cantilevered metal structure supports a 5-meterlong top, creating a light and sculptural presence that effortlessly complements the home’s expansive views. Similarly, the Libélula table, inspired by the delicate wings of a dragonfly, introduces an element of natural beauty and lightness to the space, with its amorphous top made from Rafaello marble.

The Onda sideboard, also by FCstudio, is a tribute to São Paulo’s coastline. Inspired by a photo of Iporanga beach, it captures the moment when waves meet the sand. The curved Krion doors evoke the fluidity of the sea, translating the genius loci of the piece into furniture design.

SCULPTURAL LIGHTING AND TIMELESS MATERIALS

In terms of lighting, the Haste lamp, designed by Flávio Castro, founder of FCstudio, stands out as a minimalist masterpiece. Its horizontal form illuminates sculptures with equal intensity, creating an ambient glow that enhances the overall aesthetic of the home. The Stonehenge Table, also by FCstudio, uses raw materials left over from the construction of the house, creating a sustainable yet striking centrepiece that draws inspiration from the ancient stones of Stonehenge.

A HOME THAT CONNECTS ART, ARCHITECTURE, AND NATURE

Brisa House is more than just a living space; it’s a sanctuary where art, nature, and architecture come together to create something truly exceptional. Designed by Flávio Castro and his talented team at FCstudio, this home exemplifies the harmonious relationship between modern design and the natural world, creating a space that is as timeless as it is innovative.

PERFECT HARMONY

Hâle House is a timeless retreat in the heart of the Laurentians. A masterful fusion of architecture and nature creates a sanctuary for family and legacy

In the heart of the Laurentian mountains, nestled among towering trees and near the shimmering waters of Lake St-Victor, lies Hâle House—a contemporary retreat that captures the spirit of both the past and present. This intergenerational home is a true family haven, where modern design and the beauty of nature come together in perfect harmony.

Designed by Atelier BOOM-TOWN, Hâle House is more than just a residence; it’s a celebration of the surrounding landscape and the legacy of those who call it home. From the very first step, the house embraces its natural surroundings,

its architecture reflecting both strength and serenity. The clean lines and gabled structure speak to the timeless elegance of the past while incorporating modern sensibilities, creating a home that feels both ageless and ahead of its time.

A SEAMLESS BLEND OF TRADITION AND MODERNITY

The house’s design thoughtfully integrates with the forested landscape. Perched on a gentle slope, it offers sweeping views of the surrounding natural beauty while maintaining a sense of privacy for each living space. The exterior of Hâle House is grounded in the natural elements, using materials like light

wood for the facades and grey stone at the base, which anchor the home to the earth while evoking warmth and rustic charm. A striking black metal roof adds a contemporary touch, its clean lines and sharp angles creating a stark contrast to the organic hues of the wood and stone.

Drawing inspiration from the north and east winds— known locally as le Hâle—the design of the house speaks to resilience and strength. These winds, which dry the soil and plants in the region, have inspired the durable materials and robust architectural forms that define Hâle House. Every detail, from the stone fireplaces to the wooden cabinetry, has been chosen to resonate with the natural environment, creating a space that is both enduring and welcoming.

A SPACE TO CONNECT WITH NATURE

One of the home’s defining features is its seamless connection to the outdoors. Large windows and open spaces flood the interior with natural light, ensuring that every room feels inextricably linked to the natural world outside. The living areas are designed with conviviality in mind, offering open circulation and generous volumes that invite relaxation and connection.

The sunroom is one of the home’s standout features, a

luminous space that serves as a sanctuary for its residents. Oriented to the south, this room is bathed in sunlight throughout the day, providing a warm and welcoming environment where the beauty of the surrounding landscape is ever-present. With expansive windows and glass doors, the sunroom connects the indoors and outdoors, offering a panoramic view of the deciduous forest, where the seasons come alive in vibrant colour.

A LEGACY OF CRAFTSMANSHIP AND DESIGN

Every corner of Hâle House speaks to the values of craftsmanship and the importance of creating a space that fosters family and connection. The natural stone fireplaces serve as focal points, offering warmth and comfort while tying the home to the natural landscape. The selected materials, from the raw stone mantels to the light wood finishes, reflect the textures and colours of the surrounding forest, ensuring that every element of the house feels grounded in the world outside.

At Hâle House, architecture is not merely about structure; it’s about creating a place where family, nature, and legacy come together in perfect harmony.

Set within a beautifully restored Portuguese villa, Circle Goa feels like stepping into a work of art. The architecture, steeped in heritage, exudes understated elegance: terracotta tiles, airy verandas, and lime-washed walls evoke Goa’s colonial past, while modern minimalist touches ensure a fresh and inviting aesthetic.

The property’s nine individually styled rooms are a masterclass in subtle luxury. Crisp linens, bespoke wooden furniture,

and handpicked textiles make every space unique, but it’s the attention to detail that lingers—ceramic accents crafted by local artisans, lush greenery framing every window, and a sense of serenity that flows effortlessly throughout.

Yet, Circle Goa is not just about a stylish stay. It’s a cultural hub where creativity takes centre stage. The retreat’s carefully curated events calendar offers everything from art exhibitions and poetry readings to live music and wellness workshops. Each event is designed to bring people together, fostering connection and dialogue in an intimate, welcoming space.

Helmed by a passionate culinary team, the café serves an evolving menu inspired by seasonal ingredients, locally sourced and thoughtfully

prepared. From indulgent breakfast bowls to vibrant vegan plates, every dish is a celebration of flavour and sustainability.

Guests are encouraged to join this movement, with initiatives like waste segregation and an emphasis on eco-friendly travel tips woven seamlessly into the experience.

PALETTE OF BOLDNESS

Bold colours, flowing forms, and customisable elegance define Karl Lagerfeld’s visionary spirit in this luxurious range of upholstered furniture.

In the world of luxury design, few names carry the weight of Karl Lagerfeld, and with the launch of the Wellen Collection, Karl Lagerfeld Maison continues to redefine modern interiors. Unveiled during Milan Design Week, the collection is an homage to the late designer’s visionary spirit, seamlessly merging contemporary sophistication with playful creativity.

The Wellen Collection takes centre stage with its upholstered furniture—sofas, armchairs, and modular seating—that epitomise a balance between fluid curves and bold structural precision. Designed in collaboration with acclaimed designer Toan Nguyen, the collection draws on Lagerfeld’s artistic legacy while pushing boundaries to create spaces that are as inviting

as they are impeccably styled.

Each piece in the collection tells a story of elegance and modernity. From the modular sofa in sumptuous midnight blue velvet, with ten configurable elements to suit every need, to swivel armchairs with fluid silhouettes, the Wellen Collection prioritises comfort without compromising on design. The harmonious interplay of materials, including silver leather and richly hued velvets, elevates these furnishings to works of art.

What sets Wellen apart is its embrace of customisation. True to Karl Lagerfeld’s playful ethos, every element—whether the finish, fabric, or modular composition—can be tailored to reflect personal style. The collection’s versatility ensures it is equally at home in intimate settings or grand spaces, making it

an ideal addition to contemporary interiors.

The collection’s charm lies in its contrasts: bold colours enhance the softness of its curves, while the meticulous craftsmanship ensures each piece exudes timeless sophistication. Lagerfeld’s design philosophy—a celebration of individuality and creativity—is evident in every detail, from the vibrant velvet armchairs to the modular sofa’s seamless adaptability.

“The Wellen Collection captures the essence of Karl Lagerfeld’s legacy,” says Toan Nguyen, who infused the designs with a forward-thinking sensibility. “It’s about creating environments that are both beautiful and functional, spaces that resonate with the spirit of modern living.”

Perfect for the festive season, the Wellen Collection invites you to embrace bespoke comfort, transforming your living space into a sanctuary of design and elegance.

Karl Lagerfeld Maison reflects the iconic designer’s passion for interior design and architecture, offering a unique blend of Parisian chic and contemporary innovation. With its curated collections of furniture and bespoke projects in hospitality, the Maison celebrates Lagerfeld’s inexhaustible creativity and visionary approach to modern luxury.
